I have a small internal network with about 8 or so servers or workstations. My mail server is getting spammed from all over to the root and other administrative accounts. I also get valid email sent to the root and administrative accounts from within my local network. Is there a way to block all email coming from outside my local network while still receiving it inside the local network to these specific accounts?
One of our postfix servers is for sending/receiving internal emails only. When a user entered a wrong recipient address, it will take almost an hour for the user to get the "Recipient address rejected" email. What can be done to let the user get the "Recipient address rejected" email quickier.
how to unblock email with attachment .zip should be all attachment through to my email i have below message when people sent me email to my domain

This is a message from the MailScanner E-Mail Virus Protection Service The original e-mail message contained potentially dangerous content, which has been removed for your safety. I finally got E-mails fetched downloaded to local disk, now a further thing that I would like to do is to rip off the attachments to save as its original file name and extension.A E-mail like this for example:
From root Thu Apr 7 17:21:34 2011 Delivered-To: email@example.com Received: from pop.gmail.com [18.104.22.168]
I've searched high and low for an answer. This seems so simple...
Domain = chadmccan.com Server 1 = admin.mo.chadmccan.com Server 2 = leroy.mo.chadmccan.com
Email for my domain is handled by Google Apps. MX records point there, I receive a ton of email there.I have 2 systems. admin.mo.chadmccan.com, which is designed to be the "gateway" for all services, including email. On the same network, is leroy.mo.chadmccan.com. It's just an application server, for random apps, including a webserver.I just want all of my systems to email anything that goes to "root" to firstname.lastname@example.org relaying via admin.mo.chadmccan.com. Is this impossible?
I have a 64bit linux server with 5 virtual hosts on it. When someone fills out a contact form on one of the sites...I get 15-20 copies of the same email. At first I thought it was the kids clicking send multiple times because the first emails were coming from the children's ministry "Email The Cast" section. But then I started getting multiples from the adult sites too. All contact forms are set to come to me.
What's stranger is that my registration section for one of the sites uses the SAME php script (different file) to email me a notification that someone has registered but I only get 1 copy of that.
Sendmail isn't sending mail for some reason and keeping it in the Queue. I attemped to flush them but it deferres the connection to the server in which it is trying to relay the message to. I have checked to see if there is a DNS error or anything like that. I attemped to flush the messages through webmin.
This is the result.
I am not finding anything in the logs to let me know their is an error. I can ping the mail servers that it is trying to send to. Now it has started delaying when ping MX servers. So I knew something was starting to mess with it. I have checked the /etc/hosts. It is correct. The server isn't black listed. Mail to root just gives me.
this is sasidhar. we are getting problems with sendmail. we have a site, when user registers we are sending a confirmation mail to user. The problem is some times it is not sending mails to users. The user accounts are valid. This is what I am getting reply to my mail
I have installed Ubuntu onto a machine and am trying to get it to receive fax's and email them to me! After spending days on this I have installed efax-gtk and have successfully set it up to receive fax's and email them to me!
Everything is working, I can send and receive fax's ok, But when I set it with the 'mail_fax' script, I dont get an attached file, All I get is a directory location of the temp file, Witch is obviously deleted by the 'mail_fax' script! No Attachment is in the email.
/home/dell/efax-gtk-20101103135335.pdf Fax 20101103135335 received by efax-gtk attached All I want is the attachment to be attached!
I want to block a domain name in sendmail server. I added the domain name and "REJECT"in /etc/mail/access file. What has to be done for the changes to take effect? when i run make command in /etc/mail dir i get following error : make: Nothing to be done for `all'.

We have connected two systems with ethernet cables and have configured the two systems with ipv6 addresses. The IP of one system is 2001:0db8:0:f101::1 (let's say X::1) (This system runs OS Fedora 10) and the other is 2001:0db8:0:f101::2. (Let's say X::2) (This system runs OpenSuSE 10.3) We are able to ping from both systems to the other. We are able to ssh into the one with IP X::2 from the one with IP X::1, but not vice versa.
We have disabled iptables on both systems by using the following commands: /etc/init.d/iptables save /etc/init.d/iptables stop on the fedora 10 system and # iptables -X # iptables -t nat -F # iptables -t nat -X # iptables -t mangle -F # iptables -t mangle -X # iptables -P INPUT ACCEPT # iptables -P FORWARD ACCEPT # iptables -P OUTPUT ACCEPT on the openSuse system.
The error we get in trying to ssh from the openSuse system to the fedora system is: ssh: connect to host 2001:0db8:0:f101::1 port 22: Connection refused
We're trying to write server and client code to send data from one system to the other using SOCK_DGRAM. The code works fine when we run both the client and server on the same system. However, we are not able to send data from one system to another when we use the IPv6 addresses to run the client and server programs.
The error we get is: sendto(): Operation not permitted
The codes we are using for the server and client programs can be found here in beej's guide here : [URL]. We've only substituted the appropriate addresses in the right places... We've disabled the iptables...
I would like to send a data using one thread and receive a data using other thread by using a same socket connection using USD sockets. The calls i am using for sending and receiving are send(), recv(). let me know is it possible to send and receive the data parallel (Full duplex communication)?
I have a desklet that, occasionally after toying with network stuff, will tell me that large amounts of data are being sent/received. What's a good way to determine what processes are occupying these resources?!
I have a server which is used by number of client Apps. Now when a client initiates a sendto request to a server it has to respond(after recvfrom) by sending a message using sendto back to client and this should be done back and forth.
What I dont understand is, does the client have to open a new port to receive packets from client? If yes, then how will server know to what port of the client(assuming server ports are well-known to clients)?
I had given up on sending messages back and forth using UDP and switched to TCP. I could send a read and write message back and forth. But the trouble comes when I have more than one client wanting to talk to server using SOCK_STREAM. The first one gets through but the second client seems to get blocked forever(but I got no error upon socket creation or upon connect with the server on the same port as the previous client)..
I am looking for free and well known fax command line tools for receiving and sending faxes I wan it to save receive faxes in pdf format with file name included with caller phone number and date of receive:
Quote: for example: 5566545544-2011-5-11.pdf and any other format that I want.
I checked task manager the other day and I discovered that on the network history monitor some bits and bites were transfered in a repeating pattern (like a beacon). The transfer rate (when active) is about 149b/s receiving. And about 70b/s sending. What is this?
No Internet-related program was running from my part...In an attempt to pinpoint what was causing this, I occidentally removed the tools located left and right on the time and date. I've rebooted since but still no tools. The 0/I button is also gone.
I want to know that by default do we need to configure SMTP and POP3/IMAP sever for sending and receiving mails in Linux server and client machines or we can directly send and receive mails without configuring these mail servers?
I'm trying to configure our mail server to block email from a specific sender reaching a specific recipient. In other words, if one of our employees is getting harassed by a 'stalker', how would one go about blocking, at the MTA (Sendmail) level, a specific sender email address from reaching a particular users inbox? We do not want to capture the email - simply block it before it consumes server resources. The Sendmail server (MTA) is a front end to our Exchange server so no user accounts exist on the Linux server. We simply use it as a SPAM and Virus scanner then forward clean email to the Exchange server.
I'm currently running a server at home with F13. Now I've set up my sendmail config to relay through another server because my ISP blocks outgoing email. Now recently I've noticed that they have stopped this server from relaying emails so i need to sort out another way to send out.My current sendmail config has this added which was the relay server i was using.
# "Smart" relay host (may be null)DSrelay.02broadband.co.uk
Now i either want to set up the server to email through my main ISP using a username / password or go through my main email provider Gmail.Any ideas on how to set up either on Fedora? I've seen guides for setting up gmail but never anything related to Fedora and I'm a bit stuck
Sendmail will send letters OK, but they never show up. I cannot recieve with dovecot either. Everything seems to be OK, but it never works. I can send and recieve from localhost, but nothing outside.
The router is listening on 143, 110, and 25, and is forwarding just fine, or my site probably would not be visible. My HTTP site is at geekinsnthings.homelinux.org, the other address visible in the output is for anything else. THis is because geekinsnthings.homelinux.org redirects me to 8080 on my IP.
I am facing a problem while configuring a sendmail AS MY MTA.My problem is when is try to send mail from root to local user account(Any user existing in my local machine) , i m getting a unknown user error but normal users can successfully send a mail to root but root account does not.I can successfully compile a sendmail.mc without any error and sendmail deamons start successfully. When I Try to send mail from root account to local user Account , i got a Returned mail:see transcript for detail (which Has A following Detail )
