I am hosting apache service on the CentOS5.4. I configure the Apache in default setting mostly. But keep getting complaints from others about the website download too slow, pdf cannot download at all, flash cannot play smoothly, etc.. But on my own machine, everything works fine. Is there any tool for analyzing this problem?
To clustering my web server so that it becomes Highly available. Its currently running php, apache and mysql with no redundancy in place. I want to be clustered so that if one node goes down then the second one will automatically take over. I have done that with HA in RHEL but I want to use centos clustering solution for this. Also how willl they share the web contents and mysql database among two nodes I have no idea. I have managed a iscsi target to store contents but it doesn't work as expected.
tried hard to install oracle-11g-R2 in my CentOS5.5,during the install,I did all my job step by step as this article says: Q1: when I 'su oracle 'sqlplus /nolog',it said:"sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: libsqlplus.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".The article has a ution for this problem:"Solution: Install libaio and libaio-devel packages. If packages already installed and error still occurs try execute "ldconfig" as root."Then i executed "ldconfig" as root ,and run "sqlplus /nolog",it occured another problem:"SP2-0667: Message file sp1<lang>.msbSP2-0750: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory"
I'm running a linux cloud server with the following config 1.2ghz Processor allocation 752MB Ram
The site loads slow and clicking a link almost freezes the page for a second. Also, the page loads could be much faster. We've been running mysqltuner and have pretty much optimized all slow queries. Is there anything we can do to fine tune the server for faster and more responsive?
We have purchased Hp Proliant DL 380 G6 server after Raid 5 configuratin when i boot server from fedora or redhat bootable cd and i select "install fedora", after this installation cd is not able to detect hard drive or not able to copy required file in server.
HP Proliant Server will not boot to O.S. Upon power-up system performs POST and finally starts looking for bootable device...3 are listed CD-ROM, ?, SCSI. And then falls into a loop here. No errors that I recognize (I'm newbie to LINUX). Server has 6 SCSI drives and using the SMART START CD, are testing ok. I've broken down box to minimum hardware requirements and was even trying to boot in Safe Mode, if there is even such a thing for Linux.
I am getting frustrated to the fact that I am in charge of developing a Enterprise class solution for my company and I don't find the right answer on the WWW. I have 3 mail servers that I want them to share a Global File System (GFS) that will be mounted via ISCSI on a RAID1+0 SAN Md3000i device. All the documentation that RHEL offers include the setup of DRDB or VLS Clustering.
My intentions are not to setup clustering on these servers, at least for now, however I want them to share access to the same block device, giving enough write/read access throughput . My question is, have you done something like this ? Do you know of any good Tutorial that you tried, and worked for you ?
Used to work fine, mybb forums and a blog, accidentally chowned everything to wrong account, then back to root, fixed mysql, shell and php and it got back up again yesterday, made a new database and updated some packages using webmin (OpenSSL etc), tried to install virtualmin but qMail blocked it, few hours later out of the blue all our php files download as .bin files, as downloadfile.bin on my android phone but others on our game server reported it downloading too.
We shut off apache for obvious security reasons and are considering to close shop if we cant fix this.
I have One Server HP proliant Ml150 G5 with ARRAY Controller and I want to INSTALL REDHAT9 But OS When I install REDHAT9 IT gives NO hard disk Found ON HP SITE there is no driver for array controller for REDHAT9

I am not an oracle DBA, but need to find the cause of high load avg, even after adding more CPU power the load avg is the same.
Old and new servers load avg is the same (between 6-10 peak hours and 3 to 5 during off-peak hours) no difference. I expected the laod to come down as we added more CPUs.Our DBA says queries are optimise. Can some Oracle DBA give some tips to find the cause.
I have installed apache tomcat 5.5.27 in centos5. I edited the server.xml file also. The startup.sh and shutdown.sh commands are working fine. But tomcat is not opening in the browser. Can you suggest me something or tell me the steps involved in installing tomcat. Is admin.tar.gz of apache tomcat required for its working?
I have Hp Proliant 370 G machine, when i installed windows server 2003, it does not making any fan noise. and I have installed RHEL 5, its continous making fan noise start from booting to till power off the system. my question is why it is noising and how to set it at rest.
I'm installing Centos 5.5 on a HP ProLiant DL180 Server with ~8 TB of hard disk (4 disks that have been pre-RAIDED), from an installation DVD.
Normally when I get to the partitions screen, I would select "remove all partitions etc".
But this gives me an error message "Your boot partition is on a disk using the GPT partition scheme but this machine cannot boot using GPT. This can happen if there is not enough space on your drives for the installation."
Pressed OK, tried the other three partition options but they led to the same outcome.
Tried Advanced storage configuration: Showed that there was one hard drive (c0d0) with ~ 8 TB of space.
I figured I should create a root sector, set one up with 100 MB of space, ext3, set the mount point as /.
Created a software raid of the remaining space.
Trying to go "next" gave me a similar error about GPT partition scheme. Trying various other configurations all gave similar errors about the GPT scheme.
What do I need to do? Some earlier hard format of the disk or something?
I have yum installed mysql 5 on Centos5 and I can successfully run queries through shell. However, I want to now allow external access to mysql via some mysql tools (Mysql Administrator/Mysql Query Browser) which is on some windows machines on the same network.Mysql is running on port 3006.When i try connecting through mysql Admin i get the following:Could not connect to the specified instance.MySQL Error Number 2003Can't connect to MySQL server on 'ipaddress' (10065)If you want to check the network connection, please click the Ping button.Googling this I get the impression its something port related, but I have tried what I have found and still no go.When I ping the server I get:
Start Pinging: Reply from ipaddress: Time=0ms TTL=64 Reply from ipaddress: Time=0ms TTL=64
I'd like to build a server to run CentOS5 to host domains & run Boonex's Dolphin 7. I can't afford the hardware at present, but do have a spare laptop to test with. My two questions:
1) Is is possible to create a build on my laptop, with CentOS, PHP, Dolphin 7, DNS etc, and then create an image to transfer to the future hardware server when constructed? If not, are there alternatives e.g. to copy settings, and then paste then onto the new CentOS install? Anything else I should consider for doing this future move?
2) I presume it's not possible to transfer from 32bit (now) to 64 bit (possibly later) CentOS5?
I want to build a PXE boot server on rhel5/centos5 from which all type of OS(Linux distros,Windows - xp,vista,7) these can be installed on any client on my LAN . I have tried it for some linux distros with TFTP ,but unable to add windows.
I am facing problem in postfix. I am using centos5.2.My postfix was running well but some strange problem it failed today.after that I wanted to restart postfix service , it does not restrat. I am trying to see if a can get a centos 5.5 server setup as an smtp store and forward spamfilter by following the Centos Wiki and the freespamfilter.org guide by Mr88Talent at [url], which relates to another linux distro.
The spamfilter is essentially working! however, i have one issue with DCC.
I'm not sure if anyone else would be interested in a Centos version of Mr88Talent's tutorial, but a very rough and completely untested first effort is available at the following url: [url]
Any opinions on this setup or just a total slating of everything i have done wrong would be welcome as i don't want to waste time trying to use a setup that is just not going to be practical or reliable to maintain / keep operational.
I have read that yum update can break this type of system - which concerns me.
The intended use of the spamfilter is for a small business (only about twenty e-mail accounts). However, they still need to reliably receive e-mails (hopefully with less spam though).
I've been trying to install Fedora14 on HP ProLiant ML330 server but it doesn't recognize HP Smart Array P410/512 BBWC controller, and thus won't see HDD's(Raid 1).
