Server :: How To Connect Qmail / Vpopmail To Remote Mysql Server?
May 14, 2010
I would like to connect to a separate mysql server, yet I can't find any documentation on how to do this. How would one achieve this? I am running qmail on centos4.
1) I have a qmail/vpopmail/mysql setup (someone else did) and I see that the "vlog" database is eating up disk space. It's only growing and not shrinking or being pruned of old entries. At this rate the disk will fill in the next 60 days. I googled around but found nothing on managing the vpopmail databases. Is "vlog" even part of vpopmail or something the last admin did for inhouse customization? If it IS part of vpopmail can I delete old entries or at least shrink the log?
2) My MySQL 5 server is pretty beefy. The connections max at 500 and usually average about 50. However, when we get extremes fits of email and connections start creeping up on 400, 450 the server crawls SOOOO slow that VPOPMAIL fails to authenticate out of timeout. The server load goes from .16 to 2 and 3 but the instant I restart MySQL it's rite back down to .5 then .3 and .15 again as all the backed up requests from the other mail servers are processed.
Below are my server variables and stats: Initially I dropped the wait_timeout from 8 hours to three minutes which reduced the connections significantly but still I'm having this random overload issue.
i desperately need help on a qmail server.I have followed the RedHat guide from qmailrocks and have qmail installed on a Centos 5.4 system and everything works properly.i need to get emails forwarding working and don't really know how to go about doing so. This is what i need.im using vpopmail to add/delete users.
We have Exchange as our Mailbox server > Qmail as our SMTP server > and we use postini for filtering. We recently got word from a customer that he received a "451 error - can't connect to server" message from Postini - stating that the server is unreachable. This does not happen often so obviously Postini can connect to the qmail server. Are there logs that I can look at to find out why and when these would occur?
I have two Centos 5 servers one running Asterisk with PHP installed and another sever running as a MySql Database server, at the moment when I try run simple script to see if I can connect to the remote server I get the following error.Quote:Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code: the-matrix:~ # mysql start ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) or Code: the-matrix:~ # rcmysql start Starting service MySQL warning: /var/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds chmod: cannot access `/var/run/mysql/mysqld.pid': No such file or directory
Scenario:A - Local Unix machineB - socks proxy server port 1080C - remote mysql server port 3306I want to connect to the remote mysql server(C) from local unix machine(A) using sock proxy(B).
i am using liferay5.2(mysql included in the download pack) on fedora. while liferay is working fine but i cannot connect to mysql.i am getting the error
[ [root@localhost ~]# ln -s /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock /tmp [root@localhost ~]# /etc/init.d/mysqld start Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.
[code]....
i didnt find the mysql.sock file in the location /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. i cannot find the portal-ext.properties file also to make intial settings.
I have just installed CentOS 5. I have set mysql database to access from remote machines. But now the problem is it is not connecting from the local machine now.
while sending mail form squirrer mail it gives erorqmail-inject: fatal:unalbe to exec qq(#4.3.0)iam not able to send mail.i googled but not got solution.
I've tried /etc/init.d/mysql start, and it actually starts, or at least, it doesn't error out. But when I do pgrep mysql I get nothing, and when I try to login with mysql -p as root, I get
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
None of my other logins work, either, but since pgrep mysql didn't work, it's clear that MySQL just isn't running. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling mysql-server via apt-get, but I get the same thing. The logs in /var/log/syslog show this:
Apr 11 14:31:26 /etc/init.d/mysql[9774]: #007/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed Apr 11 14:31:26 /etc/init.d/mysql[9774]: error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server
I'm having problems connecting to the mysql database on my system. I first noticed this when I was trying to set up the program anymeal. I subsequently tried using MySQL Administrator (mysql-admin), but had no luck. It gives my the following feedback:
Code:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
Click the 'Ping' button to see if there is a networking problem. I press the ping button, and it seems to connect.
I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-
I am implementing an automated backup scheme so I created a shell script which first creates SQL dumps for all MySQL databases, then retrieves all websites from the /var/www directory of a remote server. The latter is working as I am using rsync to get the remote files. However, the MySQL dumps being retrieved are the ones from the local server which is not what I want. I want to get the SQL dumps from the remote server as well.I have a tunnel between the local and remote server which I can connect to without using any password (I added the public key to the authorized_hosts), so I tried to add the following code to the script:
ssh user@192.168.x.xxx
I then attempted to retrieve the SQL dumps and exited from the remote server. However this does not work as I still have to enter exit manually in the terminal for the SQL dumps to be retrieved from the remote host. I don't know why this is happening. This is what the script is trying to do:
//connect to remote server ssh user@192.168.x.xxx //retrieve SQL dumps
[code]...
Is there a way to connect to the remote host AND run the script's code on THAT remote host?
I am using slackware12.2, I have a mysql5.0.67 which system has install for me and I had install a zend server4.0.6 from URL... It runs all right .When I try to run my php code in zend server(apache),it break out an error with connect to mysql. But when I login mysql in command line ,I can see all my databases what my codes need in it.The code was running well in windows. I try to build the zend+mysql+php environment several times in linux but never success。how can I do to let it runs all right ? some one said I can edit php.ini, It's it right.
I'm using slackware 13.1 and I have a problem to accept remote access to mysql server. The steps I have followed to do that thing are:vi /etc/my.cnfline skip-networking is commented bind-address my_ipaddressI opened the port 3306 of my firewallAlthough I can connect locally, i.e. mysql -u a_user -h localhost -pI can't do it remotely i.e. mysql -u same_user -h my_ipaddress -pI have also turned off my firewall, but nothing.telent 3306 my_ipaddress results in: telnet: connect to address my_ipaddress: Connection refusedMy my.cnf file is:
I have a question in regards to enabling root remote access to the server.I am trying to use the mysql workbenchit kicks back an error saying "Access denied for user 'root'@'10.x.x.x' (using password: YES)" But I am able to login locally on the server. How do I enable root to long on remotely from any workstation?
I have yum installed mysql 5 on Centos5 and I can successfully run queries through shell. However, I want to now allow external access to mysql via some mysql tools (Mysql Administrator/Mysql Query Browser) which is on some windows machines on the same network.Mysql is running on port 3006.When i try connecting through mysql Admin i get the following:Could not connect to the specified instance.MySQL Error Number 2003Can't connect to MySQL server on 'ipaddress' (10065)If you want to check the network connection, please click the Ping button.Googling this I get the impression its something port related, but I have tried what I have found and still no go.When I ping the server I get:
Start Pinging: Reply from ipaddress: Time=0ms TTL=64 Reply from ipaddress: Time=0ms TTL=64
I am fresh out the box to linux I am using mysql for the 1st time also, my question is what is the correct command to run on a mysql command line to connect to remote server.
I wish to connect to MySQL using an ODBC connection and I'm using isql to test. On the server connection using isql to local host is sweet however the problem is the client.Okay my set up looks like thisOn the server /etc/odbc.ini is[MySQL-scopus2008]Description = MySQL citation databaseDriver = MySQLServer = localhostDatabase = scopus2008Por
One of our client having issue with the qmail. The issue is if any one send email to abc@ourdomain.com (abc@ourdomain.com the email address which is not exist) it should send failure notification i.e."email does not exist" to the sender. The qmail server is not notifying that email address does not exist.
