Ubuntu :: Web Script For Apache As A Simple File Sharing Server?

May 23, 2010

Quite often I need someone to transfer a file to my laptop, and it's often different OS to different OS, and setting file-sharing, sshd/ssh, ftpd/ftp, and whatever else not is often not worth it. A USB key is also not always handy or big enough.

But, it's easy to be on the same network, just hard to get service working on top of it in less than 3 minutes if you've never dealt with that person's computer before.

What I was thinking would be the simplest thing would be if I could run apache, and have a very simple web script that simply allows file uploads. Something that would serve a web page that has a "choose file" button which brings up the file dialog, pretty standard I guess. I wouldn't say no to a few more functions on top of that.

Given that, does anyone know of a simple apache modules, or a web server script (language doesn't matter) that would allow for this?

I don't have any rewrites/redirections (I checked wherever possible) and checked apache2.conf (httpd.conf is empty).

Server :: Apache On :443 Only Or Find Another Free Port?

Jul 13, 2011

I want to run these services on these ports:- ssh:8080- shellinabox:80- squirrelmail via apache2 and SSL:443These appear to be the only ports I can generally connect to through various firewalls I encounter. If I try to get apache2 to not run on 80 shellinxabox appears to bind to it ok, but when I visit my site at port 80 via firefox I get apache instead. 1) How do I stop this and get shellinabox and apache2 working at the same time?2) How do I find another free port that isn't firewalled? All I have been trying is starting shellinabox on various ports and trying to connect and this is a very slow process

Do I want to just have GoDaddy forward traffic to my dyndns account? Or do I manually change the nameservers? To what? Also, this seems to work for http(s) traffic only. What happens if I want to use ssh/ftp/smtp? And do I need to configure anything on my end aside from installing/configuring the appropriate server binaries? Is there a way to update GoDaddy when my ip changes?

Ubuntu Networking :: Simple UDP Port Forwarding?

Jan 30, 2011

I'm trying to set up very simple UDP port forwarding, but can't seem to have good results. I read trough netcat and iptables manuals, but can't seem to figure things out. my setup is the following:

I have machine1, listening on UDP port 49000. I have machine_fw, which accepts connections on 59000, and forwards all this to machine1:49000 (and returning traffic too) I have machine2, which will connect to machine_fw:59000, and this way communicate at the end with machine1:49000, as machine_fw is taking care of forwarding is there an easy way to achieve this?
