Red Hat / Fedora :: Rt3070sta With 188.8.131.52-115.fc12.i686 - Drive No Longer Works
May 29, 2010
I had the rt3070sta running fine (built from a makefile) with the previous kernel. Since the startup with the kernel referenced above '184.108.40.206-115.fc12.i686', this driver no longer works. BTW, 220.127.116.11-115.fc12.i686 came with a new rt3070sta driver.
when ever i try to install updates i get shown an error & the updates stop the error i get says "librpmio.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.3-1.fc12.i686 (updates) librpm.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.3-1.fc12.i686 (updates)"
I have a tricky problem which I could soIve with a c program. I wrote one and found I didnt have gcc so I tried to install it. I was told I needed to install packages. I acknowledged and an error was generated gcc-4.4.2-7.fc12.i686 requires libgomp = 4.4.2-7.fc12 I try to install libgomp and go round again.
Forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong forum, first time poster with Fedora. I have been using Linux for some time now, mostly Mint, but Fedora 12 @ work. Anyway, I receive the following error in my /var/log/boot.log:
Code: nvidia.ko for kernel 18.104.22.168-70.fc12.i686 was not found and the driver does not load (My xorg.conf file is not loaded), but once I am at a
I had fedora 12 installed on a Macbook pro Intel first generation with ATI Radeon graphics card (see the attachment). Compiz crash when trying to watch *.wmv movie codified with wmvvc1dmo on kernel-PAE-22.214.171.124-67.fc12.i686. I want to convert the film to *.mpg, then I download the mplayer codecs in order to see the film, I can do it without problems with the on kernel-PAE-126.96.36.199-174.2.22.fc12.i686. But I updated my system last Saturday and when I was trying to see the movie again the computer began to respond really slow, then I began to close applications and when I tried to restart I got the message: "compiz is not responding".
I tried again but the same problem. Other thing that I noticed is that when the computer go to sleep, when I wake up it, the display show horizontal black spikes, it is like it doesn't have the appropriate refreshing rate. I think that the problem is related with the acceleration on graphic card. Yesterday, I booted on kernel-PAE-188.8.131.52-174.2.22.fc12.i686, and I watched the film, and the wake up was without problems. That is the reason I call it a regression.
I installed Fedora 12 onto my PC today and I've tried installing a set of updates and get the following
A package could not be found that allows the action to complete.
librpmio.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686 librpm.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686 : librpmio.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686 librpm.so.0 is needed by package abrt-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686
Is there something weird about the FLOPPY DRIVE on F12? Nothing associated with it works & I can't get an icon for it. Also the FLOPPY FORMATTER no longer works. (mine is an internal drive)- I had some really miner quirks with it in 10 but it worked. I had some workaround launchers that I used until an upgrade semi-fixed it. (It would give a false error that it couldn't run but did. I just ignored it.)
I tried to edit FSTAB to cure a problem of my BACKUP drive showing up twice*** so while I was in there I added the stuff for the floppy & it still doesn't work. If I try to mount it manually, I get the error that /dev/fd0 doesn't exist.I tried to find some info on it & it SEEMS that there MAY be a bug but I'm not sure as the info is a bit confusing as to just what version & such they are talking about. And there was also the problem that all the stuff seemed to be OLD or not related to my problem.I why I quite hacking at my system, is that all my workaround launchers & the formatter say that there are GNOME things missing & they can't run. So I figure that there is something missing or screwy already & that I'd better ask BEFORE I make things worse or actually break something. With the fact that floppies are about gone, it's getting to be not that big of a deal but I still find myself having to use them for repair purposes (albeit, not as much) & it gets to be a bit of a pain to fire up M$ just to do something like this.
*** It appears that the one in FSTAB was the one I needed, so where would the OTHER one be so I can get rid of it? Or at least make it auto mount.
i loaded the YUM suggested by fedora and adobe. the install went well and worked during that time during the next and all restarts after the flash player no longer works infact all websites requiring flash say it si not even installed. I tryed to reinstall it and it said it is already installed and to cancel.
Fedora 9 used to support a timed login via the gdm program. This feature no longer works with the gdm that comes with Fedora 13 (gdm-2.30.2-1.fc13.i686 ). I made modifications to /etc/gdm/gdm.schema as follows:
For some unknown (to me) reason, "Ctrl+Shift+u, <unicode number>" doesn't work in F12. I had gotten quite used to this method in order to input several symbols and if you know what you want, it is a lot faster compared to using the character map. This was working in all recent Fedora versions.Does anyone know how to enable this functionality?
how do I install fc12 from a hard drive partition? I downloaded thec12 dvd iso file...when I burned this to a DVD it wanted to install from my DVD and not a file on external media.---------- Post added at 08:03 PM CST ---------- Previous post was at 07:53 PM CST ----------this looks like it:[URL]
I am a recruit for Linux and install FC12 on my PC. The motherboard is ASUS M3N78-CM. The nvidia GeForce 8200 chipset on the motherboard is directlt used for vedio. The driver : NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.42-pkg2.run is downloaded from Nvidia website, but it can't drive the chipset successfully. So i can not start X-window. If anyone has a solution to this problem?
I upgraded from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11, and it seems that when I saved my main.cf file, something changed in the versions and it no longer works. I've tried going through the file and tweaking it, but it's not working. Here is the postconf
I just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.
Last nights upgrade of java-1.6.0-openjdk-184.108.40.206-220.127.116.11.fc13.i686 and java-1.6.0-openjdk-plugin-18.104.22.168-22.214.171.124.fc13.i686 prevent the loading of Ameritrades Command Center.Downgrading to version 126.96.36.199-37 fixes the problem. I'll post the bugzilla number as soon as I get the chance to file it.
For everything else I have tried at this point on the computer, the lowercase letter 'e' is just fine (this message being an example);Has some configuration file for terminals (konsole, xterm, Yakuake) or whatever got messed up and I need to correct it?
I just updated my system to a new kernel with the update manager and now my WICD no longer obtains an IP address. Everytime I try it says "Connection Failed: Unable to get IP address".It was working fine before and even when I reboot into an older kernel it still doesn't work.I'm using a Belking Wireless G adapter.I would have tried downloading another network manager but since I can't even access the internet I'm stuck with changing current settings and nothing seems to work.
I made a USBbootdisk and installed 10.04 the day the final release came out. I installed it, used this post install guide http://blog.thesilentnumber.me/2010/...de-what-to.htm, and it has been working like a charm since then. When I went to log on to it today, the log in screen comes up as normal, I enter my password, ubuntu thinks about it for a minute, and then sends me right back to the log in screen.
I have an Asus EeePC 1005, dual booting Windows 7 Starter/Ubuntu 10.04
I just want to see if this is fixable before I wipe the partition and reload ubuntu.
Have recently updated 10.04 with latest updates which included a new kernel and the printer no longer works. In-fact I can't even define the printer and I don't have a printer installed, the install script can't locate the printer on the USB. I have a cannon MP640.
I can print OK through windowsXP on virtualbox, printer is found OK.
Everything was fine until latest update.
Also my USB TV card doesn't work anymore, it also was OK before the update.
I installed Lucid several days ago, and have just noticed that SCIM no longer works. I need it for Japanese input, but cannot turn on Anthy. The manual is either nonexistent or extremely terse with a lot of presupposed knowledge.I've installed German, Russian and Spanish language support, along with CJK. I can't even get the SCIM tool to pop up now---except ONCE!Simply reinstalling using Synaptic overlays the existing problem(s), and does not resolve any issues.SCIM may be conflicting with the desktop Switcher applet? Actually, SCIM seems to be conflicting with other Gnome desktop shortcuts, as well
Ubuntu, been using windows for years and now use Mac. I have Ubuntu running on a netbook at work and all of a sudden my wireless connection not only doesn't work, it doesn't seem to exist! Wired still works fine, but the wireless option has vanished. How do I reset or restore or whatever it takes to get my wireless working again?
