Red Hat :: Call CGI W/POST Variables From Shell?

Jun 16, 2009

I've got a CGI that I'm trying to debug. Apache gives me an ambiguous 500 error; it would be nice to see the raw output via the shell. I've got the POST request w/headers as follows. What's the best way to troubleshoot this?

POST /cgi/packBoxes.cgi HTTP/1.1
Host: 70.87.60.214
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)

Ubuntu Servers :: Limit To The Size Of POST Variables?

Mar 3, 2011

I have a problem with a PHP/Apache program.

The website creates a RPG character through a traditional Wizard. It calls itself with a hidden variable being the page number and tests which page and returns the page data with the page incremented.

Each page should be treated as a seperate page and so would be unique. I am echoing the contents of POST to the top of the page and so I can see variables being returned. When I get data from an Ajax query from page three it saves the data (23 post fields of no more than 25 characters for each field). Page four does the same but with less fields - but it is NOT returning the data - only four fields being those that were originally posted.

I cut/paste the function from section three to section four and changed the displayed text and the names of variables to test so there are no code errors, since page three works and is saved to a database.

So the only option is that there is a PHP or Apache2 issue when POST variables are returned? I am completely out of ideas as to why this would even be an issue or how it could possibly appear.

Is the number of variables an issue? This page is less than the previous page.... And the form is POSTed...

PS: I am getting NOTICE errors from PHP being the POSTed variables that are not displayed/returned... I used:

error_reporting (E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);

to stop these form being reported but do I need to test each one? PPS: Using If Isset($_POST['xxx']) does NOT allow that variable through...

PS: I have the default Ubuntu 10.04 Apache2 with all the ubuntu 10.04 updates...

Software :: Dependency - Set The GTK_CFLAGS And GTK_LIBS Environment Variables To Avoid The Need To Call Pkg-config

Jan 29, 2011

I'm trying to install ettercap from source on my clearos box (centos based) and I'm running into an issue with a GTK dependency. When I run ./configure for ettercap, it tells me I need to install GTK, Pango, or ATK. But, I've installed them all with yum, and the -devel versions of them too. For example I did "yum install gtk+" and "yum install gtk+-devel" for GTK, Pango, and ATK.

But even though I installed all these dependencies, I'm still getting this error. I'm thinking the problem is that it's looking for gtk, atk, or pango in the wrong place. A copy of the relevant error section produced by running ./configure is below:

[Code]....

Alternatively you may set the GTK_CFLAGS and GTK_LIBS environment variables to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for

Programming :: Setting Variables In C-shell?

Jul 12, 2010

I'm running into a problem when I try to set a variable to an awk output in c-shell. Right now my command is Code: set STR_MSG_TYPE = `awk -F{ '/msg_type/ {print $2}' <filename> | tr -d }'/''*' ` I then run echo to see what the output is and it returns blank, however, when I run the same awk command from the command line, I get an actual output of "MT-715". Am I setting my variable incorrectly? I do something similar using the date command to set a STR_DATE variable earlier in the code and it works fine and I use the same syntax.

General :: Variables Between Shell Scripts?

May 20, 2010

Ive created some custom shell scripts to run during the kernels boot process (they are called from the init script).I was wondering if there's any way to assign a variable that can be accessed between different scripts.For example my first script checks which type of pc i am installing on and assigns the hard drive location to a variable.HARDDRIVE = "/dev/sda1"at the end of the script it calls another script. In this script I cant reference HARDDRIVE as it is blank, to get around this I need to repeat the same code for assigning it.Its more of a space/aesthetics issue but I figured someone might know the solution off the top of their head

Programming :: Exporting Makefile Variables To $(shell) Environment?

May 12, 2010

I'm aware that one can export make variables to other makefiles; however, how does one export them to the environment of $(shell)? Take the example below:

Code:
export TEST
VARIABLE=$(shell echo $$TEST)
.PHONY: all
all:
#$(VARIABLE)

In this example, I might call make TEST=test. The goal is for $TEST to be available to the environment of the shell escape. This is because I need its value in a script which is called. For example:

Code:
VARIABLE=$(shell i-need-TEST.sh)My current solution is the following:VARIABLE=$(shell export TEST="$(TEST)"; i-need-TEST.sh) but this only works if I know all if the variables needed at that point (as opposed to being able to export variables in included makefiles.) Is there an easy solution?

Programming :: C-shell Scripting Syntax Error When Defining Two Variables A1 And A2

Apr 5, 2011

I am trying to modify a script for research purposes and am having difficulty here as I have little prior experience with C-shell scripting.

The script looks as follows (it includes tcl commands like runFEP that you can ignore)

#!/bin/bash

for ((old=1, new=2; old<=4; old++,new++))
a1=${old}%50
a2=${new}%50
do
cat > input${new}.conf <<EOF
${a1}

My question: I keep getting a syntax error when defining my two variables a1 and a2. I essentially need these variables to be
a1 = value of variable old divided by 50
a2 = value of variable new divided by 50

Software :: CURL Post Data Command From Shell - HTTP Error Code 408

Jan 29, 2011

I am trying to connect to the web interface found at [URL] using curl. This first requires login information to be entered at [URL], but I am having an issue with the login process. I am trying to submit the following form via POST:

Code:
<form action="j_security_check" method="post" id="login_form" name="login_form">
<center> <table style="background: #cac1cf;FONT-SIZE: 12px;">
<tr> <td align="center" colspan="2">Please enter your username and password:</td>
</tr> <tr> <td align="right">Username</td>
<td> <input name="j_username" style="width: 250px" id="j_username" type="text"/> </td>
</tr> <tr>
<td align="right">Password</td>
<td> <input style="width: 250px" name="j_password" id="j_password" type="password"/> </td>
</tr> <tr> <td colspan="2" align="center">
<input value="Enter" name="enter" type="submit"/>
<input value="Clear" name="Clear" type="reset"/>
</td> </tr> </table> </center> </form>
The command that I am using for this is the following:

Code:
curl -c cookies -b cookies -L -d "j_username=user%40domain.com&j_password=pass" [URL]
The command is properly formatted as far as I can tell. I tested it with another website using a similar authentication scheme using different POST variables specific to the form and it worked fine.

When I run the above command with the -v tag, it reveals this:
Code:

I cannot tell why the login timeout is expired when I try to do this, and my investigation toward this end has been fruitless. I saw a brief snippet on Google that vaguely suggested that the underscores in the domain name were at fault, but replacing these with their encoded counterparts did nothing to resolve the issue (that, and underscores should be fine when sent unencoded according to the standards). I have extensively perused the man pages and have come up with nothing to adequately explain this behavior. I also talked to a friend who has worked with curl in his line of work, but he mostly has experience in the context of PHP and has not dealt with this issue before. I am running GNU/Linux 2.6.35-22-generic-pae.
