Ubuntu :: Using Wget To Save A Frequently Updated Webpage?

Mar 3, 2010

I'm trying to figure out how to use wget to save a copy of a page that is frequently updated. Ideally, what I'd like it to do is save a copy of the page every minute or so. I don't need multiple copies; I just need to know what the most recent version was. Also, if the page disappears for whatever reason, I don't want it to save the error page, just wait until the page is up again.

If I could use SAML 2.0 I would be home free with "Simple Saml Php" but I am not that lucky. Would the process be as simple as building the SAML in XML then submitting it with a SoapClient? According to the Docs I've read that would appear to work.

Programming :: Bash Script For Finding And Replacement In Any Webpage Code?

Feb 19, 2011

I want to write Bourne-shell script that will be to do finding and replacement in any web page code (.htm file) name of the tied folder in which have been saved pictures, .css, .js and other files. This folder create a web browser when we save web page completely and has so name as web page and has ending '_files'. I have many web pages where name of their folder are incorrect. Of course, my web browser shows these web pages without pictures. I can count amount of web pages in a folder (/path) needed for me.

1) find /path -type f -name "*.htm*" -print | grep -c .htm or find /path -type f -name *.htm | wc -l I can get list of web pages.

2) ls /path *.htm > out-list But I don't know how to assign the value from out-list (2) or result commands from pipeline (1) to a variable. Then I want to do next:

# where variable 'list' is an amount of web pages
while [ $var -le $list ]

4)assign the 1st (then 2nd , etc. ) value from out-list (2) to variable 'webfile'
sed -n $var,+0p out-spisok

5)find the 1st string value '_files' in the 'webfile' grep -m1 _files $webfile

6)For example, 'abracadabra_files' is an incorrect folder in the 'webfile' I must to know start and end position 'abracadabra' without ending '_files', "cut" name of the incorrect folder and assign it to the variable 'finder' finder = 'abracadabra' BTW, name of a folder before '_files' is between '="' and '_files' in any web page code.

7)foldernew = $webfile (without '.htm')' foldernew' is equal with name of the tied folder without ending '_files' in the folder '/path'

8)find and replace in the 'webfile' and save result in the 'webfile-out'sed s/$finder/$foldernew/g $webfile > $webfile-out

Programming :: Java And GTK (native Code) Not Compatible With Gcj And Gnome-GCJ

Jul 2, 2010

I'm trying to build a GUI for my java app and compile with gcj (to native code). I started googling and found 3 possibilities: Java-Gnome, Gnome-GCJ and libswt. Unfortunately, Java-Gnome is not compatible with gcj and Gnome-GCJ is, but is no longer maintained. The third option, libswt, I could not find any clear information what is it and how it works. Can you enlighten me a bit more about the subject?

Ubuntu :: Wget Webpage And Some Links For Offline View

Apr 25, 2010

I've looked around the other threads as well as the wget man page. I also Googled for some examples. I still cannot work it out. From the page [URL] I want to download the 48 linked files and their corresponding information page.To do this (the first file) by hand I click on the line that saysApplications (5) Go to the first optionDell - Application Open and copy the linked pageApplies to: Driver Reset Tool Then back on the first page click on the Download button. On the window that opens up I choose to save the file.

Then I move on to the next option (which is Sonic Solutions - Applications) and repeat this until I would have all my files. I do not want to download the many other links on this page. Just the above mentioned, so I can take it back to my internet-less place and refer to it as if I was on the net. I am using the 9.10 LiveCD at my friends place.

Networking :: See Whether Wget Can Be Used To Generate Actual Url Hits On A Webpage?

Jan 16, 2011

I am trying to see whether wget can be used to generate actual url hits on a webpage. This does not look good so far´┐Ż. I changed the following lines in /etc/wgetrc to:

Code: http_proxy=http : / /<proxy_ip>:<port>/ use_proxy on Output :

Code: root# wget -c <url>/ > /dev/null
--2011-01-16 12:26:38-- <url>
Connecting to <proxy_ip>:<port>... connected.

2011-01-16 12:26:39 (88,9 KB/s) - `index.html.3' saved [50548] This does NOT generate a hit on the actual web page! It does not seem like the, > /dev/null part is working either... How can I get this to work?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Saving An Mp3 File From A Webpage's Xml Source Code?

Sep 1, 2010

I listen to a radio show that broadcasts online a lot named ChatterBox Video Game Radio, and when i e-mailed one of the hosts about retrieving archived shows since the site didn't have any archiving of old shows or a link to it. Alon was nice enough to send me one of their old web pages with a HUGE list of archives but it's only the xml source code of the page. since the page isn't live of course, and because of the how he had to send me the code for the page and not a hyperlink to the page, i have the source code. now going through the source code of the page he emailed to me, i can find links to .mp3 files and i can open them and listen to the shows in web browsers, but i was hoping to save them to my computer forfuturelistening.URL]ww.chatterbox' in firefox quicktime comes in and lets me listen (as long as my internet connection is active) but wont enable me to save because i dont have the pro version of quicktime. quicktime is good, but i dont use it enough to actually buy the product, and i'm not going to buy the product for just a one time use. is there another way to where i can save this file using the address from the source code (and the ChatterBox allows listeners to save their shows to computer for free, so it not some work around to rob them of money. i fully support them) without having to buy quicktime 7 pro(a product i never really use)?

Programming :: Implement Two Periodical Processes In C++?

Jul 28, 2010

I am doing real time programming in C++, under Linux. I have two processes, let me say A and B. A process is being started periodically, every 5ms. B process is being started every 10ms. The process A is doing data processing. The process B is reading that data and displays it. I am confused about how to run periodically processes. The problem is that the period of process A should be as much as it is possible accurate (5ms). For the process B it isn't so important. I have created independent processes, each in one .cpp file, and I am starting them from bash file. Is that OK? I don't have to make child processes in order to have parallel processes?

Programming :: How To Implement Whole New Writing System

Aug 11, 2010

So basically, there is a really cool writing system I have been working on. It could be viewed (for simplification purposes) like an encryption method for the Latin script.

Facts about the writing system:
It has a little over 300 symbols.
It is syllable-driven.
It is highly compositional (eg. "c", "ca", "cae", "ca " and "ci." all map to different symbols - and NOT by overlaying elements)
Symbols have medium graphical complexity (comparable to Korean Hangul, or Japanese Hiragana)
Has a rather complex set of diacritics (~10, some of which can go on any symbol)
Has no ligatures

How transliteration occurs:
Sequences of Latin symbols map to certain symbols. Example below:[G][rou][p ][hu][g.]Characters sequences between "[" and "]" map to a single symbol (so it would take only 5 symbols to write "Group hug.").

How I want it to work:
I would like to have a daemon that: Intercepts all text displayed on the screen.
Converts it to my writing system (changes letter sequences with individual Unicode codes)
Leaves unsupported symbols unchanged.
Displays all the text on the screen using my font and characters intertwined with the fonts and characters left unchanged.

For example, if you take the following line of C++ code:for (i = 1; i <= n; i++)
I would like it displayed like this:[fo][r ]([i ]= [1]; [i ]<= [n]; [i]++)
Bold-symbols should be in my Unicode font with special symbols defined for this writing system, and the rest should be in its original font and encoding. Also, I would like this encoding to hold for display-purposes only. The data in the memory should remain unaffected. This also means real-time adjustments: if I open a text editor (say, from the OpenOffice Suite) and I start typing, I would like to see what I type encoded with my writing system, even though the document actually contains Latin letters. This also means that the symbol immediately before the cursor may change as you type.

Programming :: Implement Variable Substitution In Strings?

May 6, 2011

I have an interpteter that supports string literals, and the way it works is that the lexer returns the entire string as a single token, with the quotes removed and escape sequences replaced with the literal characters they represent.

I already implemented single-quote strings, they don't interpret any characters specially except for the single quote. I partially implemented double-quoted strings, they already support all the same backslash escape sequences that C does. But I would also want to add variable substitution.

The way it would work is that "${expression}" would interpret the expression (which could just be a variable name) and replace itself with the result. But I have no idea how to do this.

In case it matters, I'm using a hand-written lexer and recursive-descent parser.
