OpenSUSE :: Add Application In "library" Used By Krunner?
May 23, 2010I had to install Eclipse 3.5 without using Yast or zypper because i) version 3.5 is not packaged yet and ii) I needed 3.5 to work with a specific eclipse plug-in. The installation was a simple uncompression of an tar.gz archive. Now I would like to start eclipse from Krunner but it does not seem to know anything about my install (as expected!). My 2 attempts to make Krunner aware of my eclipse install did not work. What I have tried was:- add an alias in my .bashrc file - add a $PATH call to the eclipse directory in my .bashrc

Mar 19, 2010Sometimes when I type something to run apps on krunner (alt + f2) it gets freeze for about 10 seconds. I say sometimes but sure it happens most of times I use krunner. Other times I write it on but then the app doesn't come up until about 10 seconds...Does someone else have this issue on krunner? KDE 4.4.1, openSUSE 11.2.

Sep 11, 2010After I upgrade the Banshee to 1.7.5-91 version, I can't start it. When try to start it, the window of it appears and close immediately.

Mar 5, 2011Through YaST's System Services I configured an application to start on boot. However, the application (mediatomb) is using mysql, so it should not be started before mysql. It is however, which means mediatomb fails to start.

Oct 12, 2010My SSH client for remote machine will sometimes hang. I have to wait until the session is finished hanging, I guess, to login with SSH again. I would get some message about multiple users or something.
I haven't been able to login this time for over 1 day. It's started saying something about Tcl_InitNotifier: unable to start notifier thread. My host can access the machine locally to fix this, but what is going on? Why is this occurring?

Sep 23, 2010I'm running opensuse 11.3 with KDE 4.5.1 and Digikam 1.4.0. In Dolphin I use ffmpegthumbnailer to produce thumbnails of videos and I like how it works.
My question is how do I get Digikam 1.4 to use ffmpegthumbnailer instead of mplayerthumbnailer?

Oct 9, 2010I wonder if there is an option to select one set of dups to erase. So far i think you can only delete individual images, which might take a long time. Is there any other way to speed deletion a bit? I checked the manual, but it doesn't talk a lot of it. Or is there by any chance another add on?

OpenSUSE :: Install The Latest Version Of Digikam?
Dec 4, 2010I attempted to install the latest version of Digikam, v1.6, by connecting the Factory repository , then an upgrade via YAST. It automagically included upgrade of certain kde4 packages to v2.5.80.
System ran OK for a while, then I got a Plasma Desktop Shell crash notice and now cannot restart X. I can boot to level 3. I upgraded all the kde components to 2.5.80, but that did not help.
Has anyone successfully done this? Was there a hidden secret to success?
If all else fails, am I correct that

Now since I have installed openSUSE 11.2, digikam insists to take over.
How can I configure SUSE 11.2 that it offers me the file manager option again? It would be great (but not necessary) if it offered a selection "Open with ..." when the USB cable is plugged in.

GNOME 2.28.0Last week when I rebooted my machine, I suddenly found my machine had no response to any click or typing. When the cursor move to any icons, they can be highlighted, but when I click them, no response at all. The weird thing is almost every time after I reboot the computer, it can work for a few minutes, then stop working. But if I press Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, it can be log out.
I think there must be something wrong with my GNOME, 'cause everything seems working fine when I login IceWM. may be recover the .config file in my home directory. But I don't have this file in my home directory.

Mar 8, 2010how do you adjust the response time of the taskbar menus, such as when you click on the start button on the bottom left of the desktop? My problem is that when I click them, it would delay for about 1 second before popping up the menu. But right-clicking on the desktop popped out fine without any delay though. Is this normal? Where do I adjust the settings for this? I have configured my ATI graphics card succesfully. Direct rendering, desktop animation and everything else is working fine btw.

For example, between the two previous words I had actually typed "something" ("yesterday something changed") but it was lost. I type at normal speed but the machine cannot keep up. Hopelessly annoying. This happens in every application I have checked. The only unusual thing I did yesterday was to load a bunch of photos off a relative's digital camera. Jul 21, 2010I recently upgrade my server pc from 11.2 to 11.3 via the net. Everything seems to go through ok. I restarted the PC and now i can not move the mouse or type anything at the login screen.
I can ping the pc fine and i can ssh into it, which tells me the pc is not froozen, just X is?
