OpenSUSE Network :: Use Own Global Template For Akonadis $HOME/.local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf File?
Apr 7, 2011
I am looking for a way to set a default for new users for the akonadi mysql.conf file that is created for each user for the akonadi database. Usually this file contains a inno_db_log_file_size of 64MB. Because of this the database eats up 64MB storage even if its still empty. I would like to decrease this size globally for each "new" user since we have very tight storage restrictions on our NFS home directories now. And 64MB make up already have the quota each user has. So this is to much. where is this default mysql.conf file taken from?
I found hints that there used to be a /usr/share/config/akonadi/mysql-global.conf file that was simply copied but I cannot find such a file on my 11.4 system. It seems things have changed. how akonadis user specific mysql.conf file in ~/.local/share/akonadi/ is generated for a new user? How can I use my own template file here?
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code: the-matrix:~ # mysql start ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) or Code: the-matrix:~ # rcmysql start Starting service MySQL warning: /var/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds chmod: cannot access `/var/run/mysql/mysqld.pid': No such file or directory
I run opensuse 11.3/KDE:Factory. Recently, kmail updated to using akonadi. The following problem came up. My local emails are now managed by a "local folders" component of akonadi. The folder structure is displayed correctly in Kmail. However, no emails are shown for some folders. Emails still live in the .kde4/share/app/kmail directory hierarchy and can be imported into a new folder after moving them somewhere else. However, even after a fresh import sometimes emails are no longer recognized.
Every time I try to empty the waste bin I get dolphin error - 'The file or folder /.local/share/Trash/files/IMGP1676.DNG does not exist'I tried to recreate the file 'IMGP1676.DNG' , deleted it i.e. sent i to the waste bin and then tried the empty waste bin again, although this time it was there and deleted it still reported the same error.du -h .local/share/Trash/files/ 12K .local/share/Trash/files
I've downloaded and installed MySQL-client-5.1.53-1.glibc23.x86_64.rpm. I'm rather new to linux so it might be I haven't started the server. Unfortunately I have no idea which file is responsible for that. It is also possible that my head isn't functioning correctly ( if at all ).
Error I receive is:
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
After removing GDM, XFCE4, and the crap-load of dependencies that came with it, something must have gone wrong. I can not place items nor delete items any more. How do I fix this problem of mine? I'm using KDE at the moment.
Could not make folder /home/theif519/.local/share/Trash
Deletion of files is necessary. I have installed libtrash hoping it'd work, but it didn't, I even did chmod 755 like it suggested I do. What do I do?

There is a known bug with MySQL 5.1.42 that prohibits the QMYSQL driver from functioning properly. I finally found it on the MythTV bug tracker, which links it to the MySQL site. There is a patch available, but the bug was fixed in 5.1.43. To fix it on my system, I grabbed the all of -current/source/ap/mysql except for the actual source, and downloaded the latest version (5.1.44) from [URL].
I recently ran into a problem with my at&t vpn connection. I'm hoping someone in this forums may be able to help? It's been working beautifully then one day it just wouldn't connect. I'm wondering if AT&T may have something to do with this...? I have tried reinstalling agnclient-1.0-22.214.171.12400.i386.rpm and agnSUSE10Prep-1.0-2.i386.rpm but nothing seem to work.I'm running Linux 126.96.36.199-0.1-desktop i686System: openSUSE 11.2 (i586)KDE: 4.3.5 (KDE 4.3.5) "release 0"
There is this bug in the latest version of Ubuntu, which is also Jessie, which is:
Can't copy a file from SMB share to the local file system: Software caused connection abort
The problem, apparently, is that newer versions of Samba hit servers with multiple requests at the same time, and for some reason the Zyxel and Iomega boxes can't handle this. The best solution they've come up with is to modify the smb.conf file on your server to include this setting: "max mux = 1".
Here is the reference material on this bug: [URL] ....
People who develop samba have fixed it in the latest version but neither the ubuntu nor Debian have released the fixed version of nautilus, as of yet. Here, is the reference: [URL] ....
I'm about to set up file server for client, both win and osx and later on web server as well.first think is that i have an old box packardbell with 2.4 gh amd processor 1 gb of ram it's an oldie one 2000 i guess i think that there shouldn't be problem to install it as i was running opensuse on it before and accept sound card everything was running normally. I'm newbie in linux world but as much as i can understand is that i will need samba to make it work with win based os but what about mac's os x? is samba for it and how to set it up ?
I have iMac 2.4GHz with rEFIT installed. I installed Unity on one of the partition. Kernel is still 188.8.131.52. I am getting error message when I run the command sudo gedit /etc/x11/xorg.conf
The error message is
(gedit:2139): Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to store changes into `/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: Failed to create file '/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel.AC7YXV': No such file or directory

I would like to build a server to act as a file/print server for my home. My wife, sister in law, and myself would use it. I would like it to be friendly to both windows and linux. My sister and I are both dual boot and for now my wife is windows only. Pretty soon though I plan on setting her up on linux as well. What would I need? And are there any "good" guides to setting something like this up?
I would like to use the system to:
- Store media / files - Maybe have KMyMoney on it and share with the wife - Hook a printer to and use as common printer
I've got Samba up and running with the correct workgroup information, and I can access files on my network share, but I can't figure out a way to point Thunderbird to a network folder to import my old local folders. Is there any way to do this? Do I need to some how map the location so Thunderbird thinks it is physically on the local machine? If so, how would one do that?
At home I have two computers running linux connected to the same router. I would like to be able to connect them so that I can move files between them and execute simple commands. What is the most simple way to access a prompt on the other computer or to mount a partition currently used by the other computer?Using the www it is possible to connect two computers using ssh, but it should be easier to do this over the LAN, right? I have been googling a lot but not found anything.
I have a computer, the one I am on now, with Ubuntu 10.10, it should be completely updated... and I can network with other computers, I can access Windows XP and 7 shared locations on other computers, and I can also get Ubuntu on other computers to access this computer's shared files. What I can't do, however, is share my hardrives that are on this computer, I have tried sharing them in /media/ and etc, but it is not working, apparently you have to mount them in some mystical way.
Another problem is getting Windows machines to access Ubuntu computers on the network - which I believe is a Windows problem, so I can figure that out some other time, but importantly, I want to be able to share my hardrives over the network.
If someone can give me some instructions to mounting and sharing hardrives(internal), and even my DVD-Drives, and portable USB devices, would also be fantastic - since, in Windows you can just right click, "share", and it's done.. It is a very useful thing to have, and I don't want to use Windows on this computer anymore, but I have no choice, really, if I can't share my storage to the other computers.
I just set up my firewall, and now I can't see any Samba workgroups. It says it can't find any workgroups on my local network, and it may be caused by a firewall. It is a firewall issue because if I disable my firewall, I can see the workgroup. What do I need to open on my firewall to see the workgroup? I am using Slackware64 13.37.
Here is how I set up my firewall.
Code: iptables -P INPUT DROP iptables -P FORWARD DROP iptables -A INPUT -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -s 127.0.0.0/8 -d 127.0.0.0/8 -i lo -j ACCEPT iptables -A INPUT -p icmp -j ACCEPT I got the commands from here url.
I have installed apache php and mysql on my pc during debian installation... some of my friends complain they cannot access my webserver from their home and it's available only within my local network... Please help regarding this...
I turned my home PC running Ubuntu 10.04 into a server, and so i am so lost, after reading like a 10-20 different guides and/or official docs, I am totally lost.
All I wanted was to create a custom 404 error page...i read about how people edited .htaccess files to customize error pages, i tried and failed also, editing apache2.conf, I got lost and i dont wanna mess up everything and also, how you're supposed to not touch either of those as its not how it should be done and instead you need to edit httpd.conf and i did and FAILED! again...
Also how do I make it so that I can make subdomain(s) on my site? and wth is a name server and where do I get one?
I just switched over to ubuntu 10.04 LTS Netbook Edition from Windows XP and I am wondering how to setup a home network and share files with other computers in my house? I tried going to Preferences -> Personal File Sharing. But the options for 'Share Files over the Network' is grayed out. The message is "This feature cannot be enabled because the required packages are not installed on your system."
I'm using Internet connection through local network, receiving white (global) IP, route, DNS with local DHCP server. Lately I noticed that my Ubuntu gets ipv6 autoconfiguration from ISP router, receiving global ipv6 address and automatically adding ipv6 route. I can access Internet resources using ipv6 connection: I can ping inet resources using my ipv6 global address and access, for example, ipv6.google.com or URL..
How can I share ipv6 connection to my home network? Using ipv4 it's easy, I just can use NAT for this. But if I understand correctly, in ipv6 there isn't such thing as NAT, because there is no limit in ip addresses.
