OpenSUSE Hardware :: Nvidia 19.29-22.1 Suse 11.3 Dual Monitor Mouse Flickers When Moved To 2nd Monitor?
Jan 15, 2011just setup suse 11.3 , put on the Nvidia 19.29-22.1 drivers via yast , no kms is set in inetd , nomodeset on grub boot line etc... Even tried installing the driver " the hard way " dual monitors come up, setup xinerama to "Extend" my desktop , and the main monitor ( right side ) is good, visually the left monitor (2ndary) is good.. but whenever I move my mouse over to the left screen the mouse pointer dissapears, flickers along the right hand border of that screen... and if i move the cursor back to the original screen i have to really fight to get it back to the main screen....Copy of my xorg.conf , still very basic...

Feb 23, 2010I'm playing with dual monitors. I have an NVIDIA GT220 set up so that my monitor and my TV are running as extended desktops. Everything is working well enough, but there is one annoying bit I've noticed:
If I'm watching ..... on monitor 1 in fullscreen and working on monitor 2, clicking anything in monitor 2 kills full-screen in monitor 1. Is this something that can be fixed somehow or is it a hardwired "feature"?
OpenSUSE :: Firefox Can't Reach The Pages?
Feb 3, 2010i use firefox for a long time, but today in opensuse he just stoped working without any reasonable reason! The only page he opens from now on is my default page... when i try to go to other ones appears this error message: "by the way the server is redirecting you, you will never reach your destination" or something like that. After this, says that this may be caused by blocked cookies... the problem is with my firefox, cause konqueror is working ok!

Mar 4, 2010I recently upgraded my HP DV7 to 11.2. I did the install with wired network connection, my WiFi is always on as well. Install went fine, ran updates via YAST. I am running KNetworkManager, it loaded, configured eth0 and wlan0, prompted me for WEP keys and showed both connections working OK. I later found that when eth0 was disconnected, wlan0 was still connected but I could not reach internet sites. My router address was set as the gateway address and the DNS server address. Following several items on the forum, I tried 'dig' and 'route' commands.

OpenSUSE Network :: Can't Reach The Internet Since Installing The Updates
Feb 3, 2010Suse 11.2 > updated Feb 2 using the Update UI applet.
I had internet connectivity prior to installing the updates. Now I can't reach the internet since installing the updates. I can reach my router, log in to the router I also ping the router but I can not ping the WAN side ip on the router.
When I boot into redmond, no issues, which is what I'm using as I write this.
I have security enabled, WPA2 Personal, not that I think that is an issue as I can reach the router, my server, network printers, and PC's.
I am running a Linksys router but have replaced the standard Linksys software with DD-WRT v24-sp2 build date 12/28/09 std. One note, DD-WRT does hand out IpV6 address but I have disabled FF from using IpV6 address along with the network connection configuration applet from accepting them. (I don't remember the applets name)
In the redmond world this would be a certificate error, is this the same type of an issue? If so how do I fix it?

Jan 8, 2010I have an LG monitor that displays at 1920 x 1080 in vista, but it can only go up to 1440 x 900 in opensuse 11.2.
I already searched for LG's website but could not find a suitable linux driver for it yet.
Is there a way to reach the 1920 x 1080 resolution in opensuse?

As a result, I can see the webserver that's hosted in guest from my host OS's web browser. However, for some reason my current setup does not allow my guest to reach the internet. What settings do I need to enable both?

Mar 6, 2010I'm using two monitors, they're virtually placed next to each other so the virtual screen resolution is (1024+1280) x 800px. Now my mouse speed on the x-axis is automatically set higher, which is good if you permanently switch between both monitors all the time. But I don't need it, so how do I turn it off? It's kinda annoying if you're used to your "normal" mouse speed.Y-axis speed is still fine. also, is there a way do display the gnome-do dock on the right handed monitor? it places itself always on the left monitor....I'm using Mint 8 which is Ubuntu 9.10 with gnome 2.28.1

Apr 30, 2010I am using a Asus UL30A laptop computer. I just performed an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04. I remember running into this problem before, but I forgot how to fix it. The problem is, when I plug my laptop into the external monitor with my laptop screen turned off automatically when I first log in, I do not see the mouse cursor on the external monitor! The mouse cursor is still here, although invisible - if I do a right-click, the property menu will come up. My current workaround is simple- if I switch to the next workspace (by pressing Ctrl-Alt-right arrow), the cursor will appear from then on.

Oct 22, 2010This is a triple-monitor setup with two video cards, where the mouse pointer gets "stuck" if it tries to cross from one video card to the next one. It worked correctly in openSUSE 11.2 and doesn't work in openSUSE 11.3 with the same xorg.conf. This is a 64-bit openSUSE 11.3 with xorg 7.5-11.3 (the openSUSE prepackaged version). I've already tried NVidia drivers 256.53-16.1 (the openSUSE NVidia repository version) and 260.19.12 (the latest off of the NVidia website).
This is the same xorg.conf that I used successfully in openSUSE 11.2. I tried a new automatically generated xorg.conf using nvidia-settings and it had the same problem. This forum won't let me upload the relevant files, but here: [URL] is a tar-ball with my xorg.conf, Xorg.*.log, /var/log/messages, and the NVidia debugging output.

Mar 23, 2011Right now, I need to use a dual-monitor setup. Be it for my casual desktop usage, or to my projects and programs presentations with a slideshow. The latter is critical and that's why I'm here.So, after some Intel Drivers update, some programs started to work nicely, faster and beautifully. But it corrupted my Dual-Monitor Setup. I don't know what to say, I'm totally desperate. I had to show one of my programs to my teacher using a projector, but with the dual monitor corruption, I called in sick today. I need to use the netbook screen to make changes on the program and the second monitor/projector to show the program working.
I'll show some pictures, but I'm without a camera right now, so I'll use one china-phone that's hanging around here to take a picture. Sorry for the quality. Both Monitors, you can see on the right of the bigger one the corruption I'm talking about.

Jan 21, 2011I have just installed Os 11.3, it is my first time to try Linux. Install went fine have Dual Boot Win7 and openSuse 11.3 KDE I have a 26" TFT TV as Monitor 1 DVI and Dell 16" as Monitor 2 VGA all working fine . Autoconfig started and TV display vanished, install finished and went into display settings to check problem and for some reason it is saying both displays are on my 16" Dell. I will Add Screen Shot to show problem. wanted to switch to Linux for years but never had the guts, i was hoping to learn Linux with this distro and when have a grip on it drop windows and use Linux as Primary.

Nov 4, 2010I have a dual-screen set-up with Ubuntu 10.10. I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 video card. I use my lower-resolution laptop screen on the left and a larger monitor on the right. The monitor is also physically higher than the monitor. See attachment for a screenshot.I have correctly set up my displays so that if the mouse is in the middle of the screen it can move from one screen to the other without jumping. The jumping happens when moving off of one screen in an area where the other screen is not directly next to it (some people call this 'the void').
Example: (See the attachment for a visual example of this.) My mouse is in the external monitor (right monitor). As I move the mouse to the top-left of the monitor (position 1), I by mistake go a little too far and instead of hitting the Ubuntu applications menu, I ended up at the top-right of the laptop monitor (left monitor; position 2). I quickly realize my mistake and move the mouse back to the right monitor, but now the mouse is at the middle-left position (position 3).This same error occurs by moving the mouse on the laptop monitor (left monitor) passed the bottom-right position. This is a big problem when scrolling vertical scroll bars on the laptop monitor (left monitor).I am looking for a fix that if the mouse is at position 1 in the attachment and I move the mouse left, it stays at position 1 and does not go to position 2.
OpenSUSE Network :: Connection 1000Mbps Doesn't Reach 1000Mbps?
Jan 13, 2011I've two computers with 1000Mbps cards, one opensuse 11.2 32 bits (AMD K7 over 1Ghz and 2MB RAM) and the other Opensuse 11.3 11.3 64 bits (single processor, 3GB). Both of the cards are configured with skge. The swith is an SMC 10/100/1000 and it reports connection at 1000Mbps on both cards. The i386 is a server and the other is a client.
I've in the client some directories of the server mounted by nfs.
I'm testing the connection copying long files (1GB for instance) and the copy reaches 14MBps at most, and most of the time it is more or less at 10MBps, which is too far from 1000Mbps.
It may be a problem of configuration? The switch is not good enough? or may be another kind of problem ?

Aug 30, 2010I'm experiencing random lockups. There are 2 types.1st time this happened when I enabled Kwin compositing effects. The screen turned black and it froze, the mouse pointer froze. Nothing would move. 5 Minutes later I just hard reset the Laptop. I was afraid something could be corrupted as it was shutdown in a bad way. On boot up Kwin's compositing effects were in place.Randomly working on the laptop, everything will freeze except the mouse pointer. This happens like once in a while though.I have a feeling this has something to do with my Dell Studio 1555 Intel GM4500 MHD graphics.

Apr 30, 2010Intel motherboard DG33TL, chipset G33. I use the on-board graphics. The display is an Fujitsu-Siemens 22" with 1680x1050 res. The latest four versions including 10.04 of Ubuntu selects wrong resolution at boot up, 1024x768. There is no option for higher res. It should be 1680x1050 and I can't change it. Have not found a solution. It works on other quite modern motherboards, but just NOT DG33TL.

My machine's IP address is 10.5.0.34 I can't figure out why I can ping 10.0.2.22 but not 10.0.2.23 -- seems like there is probably some kind of routing thing that I'm missing, but I'm confused how it would have gotten set up for 10.0.2.22 but not 10.0.2.23 -- hopefully someone out there has an idea -- or can point me to references where I might be able to learn how to debug routing issues on a network?

Dec 13, 2010It should give me daily internet usage stats something/vaguely like this:-I have tried ntop and darkstat ,but they were too complicated and cannot be launched from notification area like this..Also tried using KtrafficAnlyzer by installing KDE core, i am not very amused by the idea of having to install a massive run time file package for a simple tool.

Ubuntu Servers :: PHP5 Can't Reach From Outside LAN?
Jun 23, 2011I have just installed ubuntu Server with Apache2, PHP5, MySQL and PhpMyAdmin.
Everything works fine when I access the server on the LAN. I have forwarded port 80 in my router to the LAN ip of this server. (I have other windows based web servers so I am familiar with port forwarding) however when I try to access the server from the true static IP outside the LAN I cannot reach it and the connection just times out with the Ubuntu server connected if I use canyouseeme it says port 80 is closed. If I replace the Ubuntu server with another server I can reach this just fine from outside and canyouseeme says the port is open. So I am pretty darn sure the router is correct and that there is some config problem with the Ubuntu box, but I cannot find it. the ports.conf file has listen 80 in it and the apache2.conf includes the ports.conf file.

Jun 23, 2011I run 11.04 from a USB-stick according to instructions on ubuntu.com (pendrivelinux) with persistence. I use an Acer Aspire One D255E (10" screen notebook).I cannot reach the Windows partition. (Win7 starter. It is not hibernated.) It was OK at first but the error then occurred suddenly. It has happened before and the only thing that helps is reinstallation. The problem causes me much trouble. I must find a way to reach the files. (There is no problem reaching the 4.3 G android partition. I always unmount Win before shutting down, but that does not seem to be the issue. When I tried to investigate the problem earlier I intentionally left Win mounted at shutdown, but it could not provoke the issue.)

I have switched 5 months ago to Telfort network ( i am not sure... ) but as far as i know it was no poblem to connect the samba server with windows explorer everywhere.No i get the only the login screen when connecting from outside the network and when filling in the credentials it just come back with the login screen. I don't have any problems internal when connecting to these shares and supplying the credentials.

Fedora Networking :: Can't Reach Internet Via Wireless
Feb 27, 2011I use Fed 14. I have China Telecom internet. The wired dsl connection works fine, but the wireless won't work. It has WPA security. The password taken from beneath the router is n2nqrcqx. This password is accepted. Network Manager says I am connected to ChinaNet-TRtk, but in fact, I can't reach the internet via wireless. If I disconnect the cable, I can't get through. I have the settings on automatic dhcp. I have nothing in BSSID, I don't know what that is. I unchecked the box 'require ipv4 addressing for this connection to complete' Ditto that for ipv6.
