OpenSUSE Hardware :: IEGD Drivers For Intel GMA 500 Working?

Mar 12, 2010

I made a kernel module package for opensuse 11.2, kernel 2.6.31-12 (latest update at time of writing). It supports opengl (glxgears has 2000 frames in 5 s), 2D is faster than by using vesa only. But compiz/kwin effects dont work. Open Arena works but is not as fast as under windows xp. I think its a xorg.conf issue.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Intel PRO 2100 Not Working - RF Killswitch Button Not Working At All?

Feb 18, 2010

I followed the sticky about setting up wireless and I have come to an issue where the WLAN switch which is on this computer can be pressed, the light comes on, but no WLAN. When I looked in dmesg, this is what I get:

ipw2100: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection
firmware: requesting ipw2100-1.3.fw
eth0: Radio is disabled by RF switch.

When running iwconfig wlan0 heres what I get:

home/j-dub # iwconfig eth0
wlan0 unassociated ESSID off/any Nickname:"ipw2100"
Mode:Managed Channel=0 Access Point: Not-Associated

[code]....

Notice it says that the 'Radio is disabled by switch' in dmesg. I can press that switch until the end of the world comes and it does absolutely nothing but make the WLAN light put on a light show. And it shows the wlan to be unassociated with any clients. So, what are my options to get this Wireless up and working?

Computer/OS info:

Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M7400
1.4GHz Intel Centrino R
40GB HD
Suse 11.1 KDE

OpenSUSE Wireless :: 11.2 Intel PRO Not Working Modprobe Iwl3945 Fails?

Dec 28, 2009

until yesterday night wireless was working fine on openSUSE 11.2 After a reboot, suddenly wireless is not even shown as a possible network medium. In the network manager, the tab with "wireless" is greyed out. After going through many forum posts, here is what all I have tried.Output from various commands:

Code:

dmesg | grep firmware
[ 7.379074] IBM TrackPoint firmware: 0x0e, buttons: 3/3

[code]....

I guess that driver is not getting loaded since modprobe is giving an error which I mentioned earlier. What could be reason? Did driver crashed? Since this issue cropped up only after I rebooted the machine.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Microphone / Audio Capture Not Working Hda-intel Realtek ALC880

Apr 6, 2010

I'm using openSUSE 11.2 KDE on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 1536 laptop. My problem is that my microphone (I'm attempting to use a 3.5mm headset) doesn't work. Audio playback however does work through the built-in speakers and headphones.

I have gone through the SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE as suggested by oldcpu on the Welcome to multimedia sub-area sticky.

I have tested audio recording with

Code:
arecord -vv -fdat foo.wav resulting in a silent recording. The vumeter showed 0% during the recording.

Here is my url produced by the alsa-info script:[URL]

OpenSUSE Hardware :: 11.3 On Intel Core I5 With Integrated Graphics + Intel H55 Express Chipset

! I'm thinking of buying a corei5-660 on a motherboard with an Intel H55 Express Chipset. Does anyone know if it's fully compatible with OpenSUSE 11.3? I mean video (that comes from the processor, not an off-board PCI), audio (HD Audio), networking (Intel´┐Ż 82578DC Gigabit), SATA Controller, USB, etc. I've tried to google but didn't find much info so I wonder if anyone is using or knows where I can find more info about it...

I have found this thread on the forums about the H55 chipset: Core i3 Intel Clarkdale graphic controller problem But the problems were facing on 11.2, I don't know about 11.3...

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Intel HD Graphics (Intel Core I3) With Suse 11.3 - Poor Resolution

Jan 2, 2011

I've installed Suse linux 11.3 (kernel 2.6.34.7-0.5) on my brand new computer HP all in one 5130. Everything worked incredibly well : Wifi, wireless keyboard and mouse, sound, webcam.. OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Not Working Compaq 6910p Intel 4965 AG Or AGN?

Feb 17, 2011

I am running openSUSE 11.3 updated with all the latest patches and I cannot connect to my wireless router. I am running Linux Mint 10 on the same type of notebook HP Compaq 6910p and it worked right after the install. If I take off the security WPA & WPA2 Personal I can connect. lspci -v | less shows this for my wireless card.

10:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 4965 AG or AGN [Kedron] Network Connection (rev 61)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 1000
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 29
Memory at e4000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=8K]

[code]....

I am using the same settings for both notebooks just can't figure out why openSUSE 11.3 won't connect. I get the prompt to key in my password, I've even checked the box to show password to make sure I was keying it in correctly. Everything was good but it just goes right back to the password prompt after it fails trying to connect.

Debian :: KFreeBSD - How To Install Intel Video Drivers

Jun 8, 2011

Feel stuck between Debian and BSD worlds - not sure where to turn.

Running GNU/kFreeBSD debian 8.1-1-amd64 and base system working. Can not get X or xrandr to co-operate and use proper resolution of 1680x1050. I believe the basis of this is that it using the VESA drivers and instead should be using the INTEL drivers.

I have no 'pkg_add' for ports, plus obviously no Debian repos will help for this .... unless there are some specific kFreeBSD repos I dont know about? I can post more details on the system, but am hoping that there are other options besides compiling. I can do that if need be, but not even sure which one to use. Will these work on this system? Fedora Hardware :: Brightness Control With Intel Drivers?

Feb 13, 2011

I have a new netbook, a Lenovo Z360 and everything except one thing works "out-of-the-box". The one thing is the brightness control. I think it's the same bug like in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ux/+bug/538256 But I don't get anything in dmesg, it's just not working. setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=?? don't work, too. nomodeset acpi_backlight=vendor don't work, too. I'm using Fedora 14 with KDE, 2.6.35.11-83.fc14.i686 and the intel drivers. Maybe somebody knows a workaround, usually brightness control works very well in the newer distributions. I had like 4 notebooks all with Fedora installed and brightness works, especially with the open source intel drivers I didn't expect any difficulties.

Ubuntu :: Installing Intel HD Graphics Drivers On Maverick 10.10?

I guess thats where Windows comes in but I really like the stability of Linux and the fact it is Open Source and free. Wish I was a cool programmer or someone who has worked with the OS for a while, that would make things a lot easier. Where can I study up and get a little more educated about what I am doing? Anyway hopefully someone can answer the driver question. Lastly is there anyway to get Hardware Acceleration if using an Intel i5 system?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Intel PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN Stopped Working For 11.2?

Jun 6, 2010

The wireless on my 64-bit openSUSE-11.2 installed on my Dell Studio 1537 laptop stopped working some time back (possibly more than a one or two months back). I just discovered this last week when on business. I have not used the wireless under openSUSE-11.2 for a while so I am not certain what broke it, but I am suspicious of an update. I note openSUSE-11.3 milestone-7 works great with the wireless (on a liveCD). I note possibly two related threads, although I note no failed request for firmware in my case:request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode' failed [INTEL 5300 AGN] [OPENSUSE 11.2] - openSUSE Forums, and I see another thread here: Suddenly No Wireless Network Card - openSUSE Forums... but I can not tell if what I have is the same problem, so I did not add to those threads. In my case I can scan for the network, and see the SSID. An ip address is assigned. But a ping does not work.

Some details, the wireless is:

Code:

04:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 5300 AGN [Shiloh] Network Connection [8086:4235]
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:1121]
Kernel driver in use: iwlagn
In terms of installed apps:

Code:

rpm -qa '*wireless*'
wireless-tools-30.pre8-5.1.x86_64
wireless-regdb-2009.09.08-2.2.noarch

[code]....

I know the router wireless network is good, because I can connect to the router via wireless with another laptop (old Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo 7400M with older Intel wireless), and the router wireless also works with this Dell Studio 1537 PC (with same hardware) but with openSUSE-11.3 milestone7 version.
