OpenSUSE :: Double Clicking Top Of Window To Enlarge ?

Jul 28, 2010

First thing I do is double click the top of the window to enlarge it and when I do that the window enlarges correctly, but it also lunches an app like the double click lags behind to click on an app after the window enlages, im using the 64bit version.

If u dnt knw wat I mean please try it out and tell me how I can fix this, just double click a sized window to make it fullscreen and tell me wat happens.

I also would like to knw if maybe its the fact that im using the 64bit version and that its glitchy.

The only way I ran it is using the terminal even after I check the is it executable box.

Do I need to add any commands to make it execute by just clicking on it?

Is there a way to increase the area around a window that can change its size? When I'm using the touch-pad I'm not that stable (to much coffee) and find it really had to get the mouse to sit on the one pixel that allows you to resize a window. Or another way to resize a window?

Big issue for me with rhythmbox. If I attempt to open a song in one of my folders it wont automatically play them. It will first add the song to the library. Is there a way to change this setting in Rhythmbox?

Software :: Double Clicking On Open Office Files Leads To Very Slow Opening?

May 15, 2010

I upgraded from Kubuntu 9.10 to 10.04. It was a fresh install of kubuntu, although I did leave a windows partition on there elsewhere. Grub messed up but I fixed that with a small text edit. Anyway, when I click on a file, i.e. Open Office writer or Calc, the computer thinks about it for like 60 seconds and then finally Open Office (version 3.2.0)finishes opening the file. It also does this while saving some files. It did not do this this version 9.10 which really amazes me. I have deleted OOo and reinstalled it several times and nothing helps. All other file handling seems normal, and it is a fast newer computer with a lot of memory.

General :: Mouse Single-click Equals Double-click - Can't Select The Entire URL By Clicking

Apr 13, 2011

when i click my mouse on something, it sometimes registers as two clicks. it doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be annoying. for example, when i click a videos video to pause it, it often opens into fullscreen (which you normally click twice to do). also, in the url bar of chromium, i can't select the entire url by clicking. i now need to use ctrl+a. that's also because when i try to select the url, the highlight randomly disappears.

if i have multiple windows open, my click on the first "x" of the top-most window also closes the next window. i'm on linux mint 10. it's not really important, but it drives me crazy sometimes when my mouse doesn't work the way i want it to.

Ubuntu :: Clicking Does Not Move Window To Front

May 25, 2010

I have two windows A and B open unmaximized such that their area overlaps with A in front. If I click window B it gets the focus as I expect, but window A stays on top of it. All my keyboard events get sent to window B correctly, but I need to click on the title bar for it to appear on top of window A. Switching windows using Alt+TAB or taskbar click works as I expect - window B will appear on top. I encountered this in 10.4, not sure if it was there before or I only noticed it now. Is this a bug or some setting somewhere I need to adjust?

Ubuntu :: GNOME - Left-clicking Anywhere In Window Results In Dragging?

Mar 25, 2010

When I click the window with the left mouse button my window gets dragged, instead that the GUI elements are getting selected.

For example: Opening Firefox and selecting the address field doesn't activate the field to write in. Clicking buttons is impossible. Any action in the window seems like blocked. I'm working this around by holding Shift + Left mouse button; then it's possible to activate the GUI element. Observation: This happened just today when I switched on my computer and seems to affect only me as my user! Logging in as another user doesn't bring up this error. Everything works as usual as possible. The Gnome Panel is not affected. Closing, minimizing/maximizing windows is possible. Clicking anywhere on the window with the right mouse button opens the window options menu, not the expected options. Hovering over a button seems to be recognized as it changes its properties, but clicking still drags the window. Restarting X and restarting Ubuntu doesn't change anything.

Ubuntu :: 10.04 "toggle Window Shaded" Double Click

Apr 29, 2010

Ubuntu 10.04 seems to have lost a feature in window management, or more likely I forgot how I set up the behavior I have. Here's my problem:

The windowshade behavior caused by double clicking the title bar of a normal sized window seems to have disappeared in 10.04.

A double-click on the title bar of a window caused it to roll up, like a window shade. This made the main part of the window disappear leaving only the title bar visible. Another double-click restored the window to normal size.

Yes, there is a setting in the compiz-setting-manager (General -> keybindings -> toggle window shaded) that will toggle window shade from the keyboard. However the double-click toggle has gone away.

Hardware :: Kernel Double Fault, Laptop Froze On Distro / Getting Error Double Fault: 0000 [#1] SMP?

Jun 19, 2010

My laptop's been locking up in Linux (Ubuntu, Backtrack, Puppy) periodically for a while now. When it locked up, it was always immune to the magic of SysRq, which I thought might indicate a hardware problem. It became so bad that I had to stop using the laptop.

Today, when I turned it on and tried to boot into Fedora 12, I got the following error (just once, it just locked up at various points during the splash screen after this once):

double fault: 0000 [#1] SMP
last sysfs file:
odules linked in:
Pid: 1, co m: swapper Not ta nted 2.x86_64 #VGN-T 250N
RIP: 0010:[<ff

All the seemingly missing letters were really missing, not my typos.

As you can see, kernel version is and my laptop is a Sony Vaio TZ 250N (Core 2 Duo ULV 1.2GHZ). Note that with the other remaining kernels from the updates, nothing ever happened other than the locking up. The core temperatures hover pretty high, about 55-60C peak but this is still below the critical temp. Memtest came up clean when the problem first started happening.

OpenSUSE :: No Color Option And Non Double Sided Printing

Apr 6, 2011

I have a Lexmark 736DN printer (color, 2-sided printing). With openSUSE 11.3, there was non specific driver to pick during printer installation: I picked up "Lexmark C772dn Foomatic/Postscript" and everything was fine (at least I didn't notice problems). With openSUSE 11.4, there's no such a driver! Even more, the list of drivers for lexmark is a lot, lot shorter than the list present in 11.3. C772dn is not present so i picked up "Lexmark 4076 - CUPS + Gutenprint v5.2.6": but there is no color option and non double sided printing! what's up? Maybe I miss a rpm with printer's drivers (not installed by default)?

OpenSUSE Install :: Double Checking Value For Update Repository URI (11.3 Or 11.4)

It says: "Check if [URL] (replace 11.3 with your version)"

I have currently 11.3 installed and want to move to 11.4. Now when it says "replace 11.3 with your version" does that mean current or version that i am migrating to?

Worst thing is i have done this before (from 11.2 to 11.3, but am not sure how i interpreted it at that time)
