Hardware :: XD Picture Card Doesn't Work (in 5 In 1 Internal Reader)

Feb 13, 2010

When I insert the xD card into the built-in 5 in 1 card reader of my laptop it doesn't work. An SD card for example does work with this reader, so it is not a "faulty hardware" problem we are talking about right now, and neither is a "HW is not recognized" kind of a problem. My card reader is seen as a

Code:0f:06.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD)in the lspci output.I use debian testing with a 2.6.32-trunk kernel (what is this "trunk" here anyway?)I know this isn't a unique problem and with a cheap external USB powered card reader (I have one) this whole thing can be worked around, but still.

Ubuntu :: Integrated Card Reader Doesn't Work And Causes Mouse To Hang At Startup

Nov 24, 2010

Everything worked fine in Kubuntu 10.04 (64-bit). On the upgrade to 10.10 (64-bit) it takes about a minute until I can move the mouse after startup and the integrated memory card reader doesn't work (but the green LED which used to only come on when there was a card in there is now always on). This has been discussed twice before: here (closed and solved by unplugging cardreader which I do not want to do) and here (unsolved but closed as maverick no longer in beta) dmesg (note the errer -110) follows. Let me know if I can/should include any other logs/info!

Hardware :: Locate Internal SD Card Reader?

Apr 16, 2010

I have a new computer with with an SSD internal drive, built in SD card reader, and USB expansion ports. If I populate media in all slots and type "fdisk -l" I get a listing of the partitions for the external USB ports but fdisk doesn't report anything for the internal media. If I unplug the USB drives and type fdisk it just goes to the command line. If I type "df" it locates the partitions for the internal SSD drive but doesn't report anything for the media in the built in reader. If I type "mount" the same thing.

I've looked in /dev/ but I can't find anything that looks like something I can mount. I'd expect something like sda1 or something similar but it's not there. The contents of /media/ do report something called "card" but going there and typing "ls" doesn't get me any result. There is also an entry for "mmc1" but it too doesn't report anything.

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Internal SD Card Reader Not Functioning In 11.4 On HP 630 Laptop?

Sep 2, 2011

I'm running openSUSE 11.4 on an HP 630 laptop with KDE. Everything works fine but cards inserted into the internal SD card reader are not read, and from what I can tell the reader is not recognized at all by openSUSE on my system. The reader does not appear listed in hardware information and is not listed with the command fdisk -l . There appear to be no references at all to the reader. The reader is recognized, however, on a live USB of Linux Mint 11, where the model is listed as "Generic - xD/SD/M.S." (the vendor too), revision 1.00. It is listed as an SCSI Controller scsi5. Typing lsscsi in the termal of openSUSE provides the following:

Code:
linux-mlxx:/home/eve # lsscsi

Ubuntu :: Addonics Reader Not Work Properly On Internal SATA Port

Jun 12, 2010

I've got an Addonics AEIDDSAU multi-flash reader/writer that uses the SATA port LINK. I'm running XUbuntu 10.04, 64 bit on an Intel DQ45CB motherboard. The board has 5 internal SATA-300 ports and one external eSATA-300 port. The Addonics reader works fine on the eSATA port, but it doesn't work (properly) on an internal SATA port. By "doesn't work properly" I mean that when connected to the eSATA port, plugging in a memory card causes an immediate detection and the contents of the card pop up in a window (as they should).

When connected to an INTERNAL SATA port, a plugged in card does not show, and using CFDISK to look at the "drive" shows an unformatted 64MiB disk that really doesn't exist. Being an INTERNAL device, the Addonics reader is rather worthless if it doesn't work on an INTERNAL port, and there's no clean way to bring the eSATA port inside the computer. By the way, I'm sure this is NOT a "Linux" problem because the reader behaves the same way in Windows XP.

Below I have listed all the hardwire of the PC, as obtained from "lshw". The italic part at the bottom deals with the IN-WIN module. I suspect that it may have to do something with the "emulated scsi-host" thing, of which I just know nothing about.

Fedora :: Loading Modules To Work With Card Reader Using F13?

Aug 7, 2010

I found a solution to my card reader problem in a another fedora post but when I type the code in terminal I get:
all config files need.conf /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
How to write this code so I wont get this error and I can load these modules and also how to edit the modprobe.conf.

The code is below, using fedora 13.
You must load these two modules to work with card reader.
First : Remove the card from the Reader!
AS superuser type in console :
1. /sbin/modprobe tifm_core <enter>
2. /sbin/modprobe tifm_sd <enter>

If you want to automate these modules loading do the following :
edit the /etc/modprobe.conf file
add these :
alias mmc_core tifm_core
alias mmc_card tifm_sd

at first i tried to install my ati driver, but my x1800 is not supported anymore, so i decided to run xconfsetup to use the default ati driver. After that i have been in the xorg.conf generated by the setup and it seem they got the right driver, it say radeon in the device section. another problem i experience is that everytime i lod KDE my default resolution suck, and when i open the control panel and click on display, everything goes right.

the last problem is more serious, when i order my computer to shutdown either by command line or with the logout button, the screen goes black and nothing happen at all. Its sad beccause so far everything else seem to work fine, i installed my network card and my sound card properly.

When I try to copy the image, it works except the pasted image is just a blank rectangle.I've tried this with The Gimp on Linux and Windows, Photoshop Elements on Windows, and some other programs. I get similar results from all of them. Sometimes the rectangle is transparent, sometimes black, but never the image I've selected. However the rectangle does appear to be the size of the selected image, so something is being picked up.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Internal Microphone Doesn't Work In Cheese And Skype / Why Is So?

Jan 21, 2010

I am using UNR 9.10

Sound recording from build-in mic was fine in skype and cheese after i installed UNR in my Acer Aspire One 110L in early December last year.

But somehow, i just realized that my sound recording was not functioning when i use skype this morning.

(i don't know since when this problem occur as i never use skype and cheese in past few weeks and i did update a few time from synaptic and install ubuntu-boot kernel)

just now i remove ubuntu-boot and reinstall the 2.6.31-17-generic kernel and run

sudo dpkg-reconfigure pulseaudio

but skype and cheese still does not record from build in microphone but only record from external microphone.

One weird thing is Sound recorder do record from both the build-in mic and external mic.

i tried "parec -r test.wav" and "parec -p test.wav" and it also record from both mic.

Anyone know how to configure my netbook so that the internal mic work on skype?

Debian Hardware :: Internal SD Reader On Acer Aspire One?

Jun 7, 2011

I've recently acquired a little 10" netbook (Acer Aspire One D255) and am running Debian squeeze on it. It runs great except for the internal SD card reader, which doesn't do anything. If I have a USB card reader handy then it works fine, but it would be nice to have the internal card reader working if possible.

/var/log/messages says this:usb 1-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-5: New USB device found, idVendor=0cf2, idProduct=6250
usb 1-5: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=4
usb 1-5: Product: UB6250
usb 1-5: Manufacturer: ENE FlashBut no device is created and nothing can be mounted.

Doing a little searching reveals many similar complaints from last year, without particularly satisfactory solutions, but I can't find anything more recent. Does anyone know if there's a Debian fix for this yet? By which I mean a simple fix involving adding a module package or maybe upgrading to a wheezy kernel or something like that?
