I really wanna use the OS. I wiped my laptop and installed it but I can't change my screen resolution (it's stuck at 1024 X 768 and my refresh rate is at 0 HZ) I tried installing a driver that was for both the i9xx and i8xx chipset family but it doesn't look like it helped anything. I want to be able to play World of Warcraft Wrath of The Lich King but when I try it the way the computer is now the the frame rate is really really slow. I also need to fix my audio because there's crackling that comes from the speakers often. I attached a screen shot of what I get when I enter the command: sudo lshw -c video Changing the resolution isn't the problem so much as the fact that I can't change the refresh rate from "0 HZ" to anything higher so that my game will play smoothly. I would also like to put compiz fushion on my laptop as well but I don't believe it will work unless I resolve this problem.
When I installed Arch Linux on my Toshiba L10 Intel Centrino laptop, it detected my video card and monitors correctly "out-of-the box". Now that I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat", it has not.
How can I configure Ubuntu to use the correct Intel drivers with my Intel 82852/855GM graphics card?
Just got World of Warcraft Installed and when I start the game after I get past the 2 cinema's while I'm trying to click yes on the rules the screen seems to bee flashing over and over and over. I was thinking maybe the 3d accelerator isn't installed or maybe I need to install something because its Intel?
i upgrade a machine running centos 5.4 to 5.5 this morning. After the update the X start i saw the pointer and a black backgroud only the desktop doesn't appear. The machine is a barebone with this configuration
I have an ASUS P5Q PRO motherboard with an integrated Atheros AR8121/AR8113 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Adapter.I installed Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid" 64bit Kernel version 184.108.40.206 I have read that the driver isn't in the kernel, but there's a strange thing :
First if I try to run lspci from command line it doesn't reports Atheros Ethernet Controller.
Second If I try to run lshw -C network from command line it doesn't reports Atheros Ethernet Controller.
Third if I run ifconfig it only returns my loopback address.
Can I suppose that my Ethernet Intel Gigabit Controller is broken or that Atheros driver is missing?
Just put 11.4, 32 bit on a system with an Intel D865 GLC motherboard and 865G built in graphics controller. While the install went OK it turns out that X is totally hosed. After fighting with things for a while and discovering that Sax2 had disappeared I poked at Google and discovered some other poor folks that have had similar issues with Intel video cards. Based on a suggestion for a doc in OpenSuse.org I edited the file: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-device.conf
and added the line: Driver "intel" to it - after that things got better. Obviously the install process had not identified the video card correctly. I'm now left with another issue - while the system now identifies the driver and can talk to the monitor correctly, a Samsung S23A350H I can't open a window after X comes up and I login - basically the same issue as the unresolved Bug 673873: [Bug 673873] intel [865G] Windows flash rapidly or don't appear if Desktop Effects are on in KDE and GNOME
The workaround is to turn Desktop Effects off but since X doesn't work I can't figure out how to do that. I can't find the gnome-xgl-switch or a xgl-switch that used to exist to do it on the command line so that's out. Someone said you could drop the empty file "disable-compiz" in the ~/.config/compiz directory and that would do it but in 11.4 that directory doesn't exist. how to disable "Desktop Effects"/XGL/compiz or whatever it is now called on the command line in OpenSuse 11.4 without a gui if that is still possible?
i am using fedora 14. i need graphics driver for Intel 82579v . while moving folders it shows poor graphics.Login screen open as step by step. while playing videos ,it hang.my system is very slow now with high configuration. My system hang while improve graphics option in System-> Preference->Desktop Effects and select compiz and
what all graphics functionality does Intel's i915 graphics driver support?( blending, blitting ).By looking at the source code it appears to me that it support just 'fill rectangle' and 'image blitting'.Is that all?
I want to downgrade my Intel driver to version 2.11.0. I don't know what version I have at the moment but I have installed Fedora 15 (Lovelock). The reason is that Office 2007 has graphical bugs with Intel drivers that are newer than 2.11. So, will my gnome shell work fine after the downgrade and how to downgrade? I have searched a lot from google but didn't find any solutions.
My system occasionally, not often, but enough to bring me to do something about it, keeps freezing. Hard lock-ups. This is a known bug for openSUSE 11.3 and intel video cards. So, I tried some suggestions and updated my kernel to 2.6.35. Nope. Same prob. I updated Xorg, mesa, drm, cairo (had to go to Factory for that one). I finally got all the requirements met as listed on Intel Linux Graphics: 2010Q2 and I download the intel 2d driver, since it's newer than what comes with openSUSE, even in Factory (xorg-x11-driver-video-intel-legacy 2.9.1).Now, when I go to compile the driver, it errors out on ./configure.how do I let this intel driver package know where xorg-server is?
I've been using Mandriva (and predecessors) for ten years or so, but that distro really seems to be dying at the moment. Consequently, I am trying to move over my various PCs to SUSE. I've started with my EEEPC 901 which has a 945GME integrated graphics chip. Using Mandriva 2010.2 it works fine and I can have desktop effects (built into KDE) running with no problems. However, with KDE on openSUSE 11.4 I get irregular freezes, although I can still work within the focussed window. Moving around though, clicking on other parts of the desktop etc. doesn't work, then after a few seconds they all happen at once. I am getting the following error multiple times in the X log, which I suspect is associated:
Code: EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
I note this supposedly fixed bug report that may be relevant:[URL].. Secondly, I am getting hopeless 3D speed (glxinfo reports SGI and has all expected output). Desktop effects won't work at all, on boot it pops up a message saying they are disabled as too slow. I know it isn't a benchmark, but glxgears gives about 50, it used to give over 500. I remember a few X versions back having to enable UXA mode instead of EXA in the 'intel' driver, but presumably that is no longer needed and I cannot see any effect of doing that now (in the xorg.conf.d device file). According to the X log, X is definitely using 'intel' driver, not fb etc.
I am running Opensuse 11.4 on a file server, based on an Intel Atom motherboard with 945G graphics chipset.I recently shut down and then rebooted the server (because I needed to switch off the power for a few minutes) after it had had been running quite happily for several weeks since the last boot. Now I cannot start X - it gives up after the line(EE) intel(0): failed to set mode: Invalid argumentI've tried googling but am none the wiser what could have caused this, or how to fix it. Excerpts from the X log file:
My computer is Compaq Presario CQ61-110ED notebook pc Mijn videocard is:Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD Where can I download a driver for Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD by the Ubuntu 32/64 bits, version 9.10?
I have installed the latest debian on a dell optiplex gx260 which has a 82845G chipset and there are some strange problems. The system is configured with autologon as a standard user. Sometimes, after logging on, the screen goes black but if I connect to it with vnc, I get a working desktop. Yesterday I booted it without a display attached to it and now I cannot set it to the right screen resolution anymore (1440 x 900) which was working fine before.
I have googled and searh the forum but cannot find the right information. According to Intel, the latest driver should be in the distro but I cannot find any details about that (version/date). grep Driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf returns
! I'm thinking of buying a corei5-660 on a motherboard with an Intel H55 Express Chipset. Does anyone know if it's fully compatible with OpenSUSE 11.3? I mean video (that comes from the processor, not an off-board PCI), audio (HD Audio), networking (Intel 82578DC Gigabit), SATA Controller, USB, etc. I've tried to google but didn't find much info so I wonder if anyone is using or knows where I can find more info about it...
I have found this thread on the forums about the H55 chipset: Core i3 Intel Clarkdale graphic controller problem But the problems were facing on 11.2, I don't know about 11.3...
I've installed Suse linux 11.3 (kernel 220.127.116.11-0.5) on my brand new computer HP all in one 5130. Everything worked incredibly well : Wifi, wireless keyboard and mouse, sound, webcam.. There is only one remaining issue : I get a very poor resolution (1280x1024) instead of the 1920x1080 allowed by the screen. The graphic card is an intel chipset (HD graphics) integrated to an intel core i3 CPU. Here is (part of) the X11.org log :
Code: X.org X Server 1.8.0 Release Date: 2010-04-02 [ 15.124] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 15.124] Build Operating System: openSUSE SUSE LINUX [ 15.124] Current Operating System: Linux linux-7xhd 18.104.22.168-0.5-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-10-25 08:40:12 +0200 x86_64 [Code]....
Am a quite naive user of linux. I would like to know whether there is a way in which I can remove/disable the USB Host controller driver from the kernel, without kernel compilation..Am using a custom system which has linux in it (Fedora) If not, how should i go about recompiling the kernel to have this module disabled.
need to upgrade my intel graphics drivers for Compiz Fusion (3d desktop effects) suse linux 11.1 kernel:- 22.214.171.124-9-pae my hardware configuration is as follows intel dg41rq motherboard 2gb kingston ram intel dual core cpu 2.5 ghz current graphics drivers:- 4 series chipset integrated graphics controllers
For years I have used a Slax live CD on a laptop to clone internal HDDs to USB HDDs. I recently purchased a Sony VPCF136FM laptop with Intel Core i7 CPU. It apparently has USB 3.0 ports. The problem is the USB ports are dead with Slax. There is a USB devise driver available for Windows 7 from Sony but nothing for Linux operating systems. Can this driver be ported to Linux? It is an exacutable (XXX.exe). The chip for the USB Host is from Renesas Electronics (no help there, either). Where can I find a device driver to use with Slax and how would I install it?
I am attempting to load CentOS 5 on an Acer 6900 desktop and I'm not even getting out of the starting gate. I am familiar with using linux but not the install procedure which is why I am beginning to dive into this. However, when I bring the system up off the Linux boot disk and go to install it's not even giving me the option of the controller so I can begin installing the os from the dvd-rom. This is what acer lists as the controller for the 6900: ich8 serial ata storage controller 2820 linux driver. I cannot find this driver for linux anywhere.
I shall start off by saying that I have just jumped from Windows 7 to Ubuntu and am not regretting the decision one bit. I am however stuck with a problem. I have spent a few hours google'ing this and have read some interesting articles (probably way beyond what the problem actually is) but still don't think I have found the answer.I have installed:
I am running the install on an old Dell 8400. My PC has an Intel RAID Controller built into the MB. I have 1 HDD (without RAID) (which is houses my OS install) and then I have 2 1TB drives (These are just NTFS formatted drives with binary files on them nothing more.) in a RAID 1 (Mirroring) Array. The Intel RAID Controller on Boot recognizes the Array as it always has (irrespective of which OS is installed) however, unlike Windows 7 (where I was able to install the Intel RAID controller driver) .Does anyone know of a resolution (which doesn't involve formatting and / or use of some other software RAID solution) - to get this working which my searches have not taken me too?
