Subnet : 255.255.255.192
Gateway : 172.16.152.191
Primary DNS : 172.16.0.1

but after this setup when i restart my network #service network restart while bringing up the eth0 the following message is displayed before [OK] - RTNETLINK answers : Invalid Argument now it seems either this setup is wrong or not sufficient to set up the connection, whenever i try to ping 172.16.0.1 it showing connect : Network is Unreachable
issue in starting up Open view monitoring on couple of linux servers and here is the output from mii-tool looks like.
eth0: 100 Mbit, full duplex, link ok
eth1: 100 Mbit, full duplex, link ok

Based on what I understand, eth0 goes to monitoring and the other 2 ethernet cards go to FE. I am not an expert in system administration but would like to know if there is any issues with the above settings/configuration (in fact, im also looking for what do they infer and what is the settings?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to create a small network of 3-5 computers. I want to have one computer as my server and have services like NFS, DHCP, NTP, etc. I want to connect it to 2-4 other clients that have the bare minimal installation of linux on them. I would like 1 client computer to have a static ip address and I would like another to receive a dynamic ip address from the server. How would I go about doing all of this without the assistance of GUI's? I want to be able to do all this with the ks.cfg and network config files.

Code:
[vinay@linuxcoe4 fonts]$ cd /usr/share/X11/fonts
[vinay@linuxcoe4 fonts]$ ls
100dpi 75dpi encodings misc TTF Type1 util
[code]....
Also there is no fonts.dir file, which describes fonts under a specific fonts directory in /usr/share/fonts tree. But we can find fonts.dir or fonts.scale file under /usr/share/X11/fonts/ tree. Does files under /usr/share/fonts tree are not dependent on fonts.dir ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne monitor is working fine but the display is not coming on other monitor. I guess no problem in monitor because I swapped the cable to check the individual monitor. When I try to install the new driver its giving GCC-VERSION-CHECK while installing. And I do not think I have to install the new driver because it has already one. What should I do to configure the dual monitor. Do I have to edit any configuration file.

I am trying to manually configure my wireless interface similar to how I manually configure my wired interfaces on Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat). I have two wired interfaces that use static IP addresses. I set up these interfaces using /etc/network/interface file. I disabled network manager (it was never working correctly to start with). Now, I want to connect my wireless interface (wlan0) to an unsecured wireless private network. I know/can find out all the information about the wireless network (ssid, etc). Also, I need to do this without disconnecting either of my wired interfaces.
I have looked all over the internet/forums for information about how to set up this interface, but nothing I found meets my need. Is there any way I can use iwconfig or the interface file to connect to this wireless connection? Or is there any other tool that will allow me to manually do this?
Ubuntu @ Powerbook G4 400mhz
What's about:
I'm trying to install Ubuntu (or lubuntu) to this old Powerbook [URL] with 400mhz PPC CPU. I got it instslled and can use the terminal, but can't get the xserver running! The problem is the display is verey sensitiv with correct resulution and frequency, if it is not OK, it will not show enything (well, some colors like northern lights but nothing else ) I can login using the keyboard and hear the logon sound of gnome. but of cause i cant see anything I got no external monitor for testing.
Now the big question: how can i setup the grafic card in the actuel version of ubuntu? here i found some info, but it's not working anymore with 10.10 [URL]
here i found the following datas for the screen:
resolution: 1152x768horizontal

Creating a separate /tmp partition manually during install prevents a clean shutdown.
Setup: Debian 8 minimal server configuration (SSH only) using net install as virtual machine on Windows Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V (Gen 2).
1024 MB RAM, 20 GB VHDX, and 1 Processor, EFI boot
Packages installed: openssh-server, sudo, unattended-upgrades, bsd-mailx postfix
Application: IPv6 gateway using 6in4 tunnel
Symptoms: When shutting down the operating system (poweroff or reboot), the message
A start job is running for Unattended-Upgrades ( xx seconds / no limit ).is displayed on the console and will persist for several minutes before eventually timing out and shutting down.I've tried several different configurations. Any configuration that creates /tmp automatically (whole disk with single partition, or disk with separate /home, /var, and /tmp partitions) works fine and shuts down promptly. When I partition the disk manually (512 MB EFI Boot, 17 GB /, 3 GB /var, 512 MB /tmp, and 512+ swap) the problem occurs. I've narrowed it down to just the /tmp partition by testing and comparing various configurations (including/excluding partitions, placing partitions on a separate disk, changing the partition sizes, matching against automatic configurations, etc.).
I have also compared the /etc/fstab and /etc/default/tmpfs configuration file between working and non-working systems and cannot see any meaningful difference.
Installed OpenSUSE 11.4 with XFCE on MSI Wind U90. Unfortunately my RTL8187se buit-in wi-fi doesn't work.Finally found that driver r8180 works. After YAST2 configuration it worked, but after reboot stopped working. I've found that YAST2 forgets my manual configuration of the wifi card (forgets all settings).I've tried to remove card from YAST2 and configure again from scratch, but it forgets all my settings - mainly the module name - r8180, and without this driver network doesn't work!

I believe that SU log messages are supposed to be appended to /var/log/messages but I'm not getting any log entries. I edited the /etc/syslog.conf and added the line below
su.* /var/log/sulog
Then ran /etc/rc.d/init.d/syslog restart (I also ran this prior to editing the syslog.conf file just in case). I'm still not getting any SU log messages.
I have and RHEL5.4 conecceted to an SAN HSV200. When I present a LUN to it, In system-confg-lvm gui appears a device like /dev/mapth/mapth0 (thats the correct device to multipath) and other like /dev/sda or /dev/dm-N, as uninitialized entities. How could I configure to not display this device (/dev/sda) and prevent human errors?
This is the things I need:
1- I want (if it is posible...) to disappear the part where it says "uninitialized entities"
2- Is It necesary mantain the partitioning done to default (like /dev/mapper/mpath0p1) with device-mapper-multipath (kpartx command)? or Can I delete it without future problems?
This is the actual configuration that I have:
1- /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
Code:
preferred_names = [ "^/dev/mpath/", "^/dev/mapper/mpath", "^/dev/[hs]d" ]
filter = [ "a/dev/mapper/mpath.*/","a/dev/cciss/.*/","r/.*/" ]
2- /etc/multipath.conf
Code:
#blacklist {
# devnode "*"
#}
