Server :: Putty/SSH Login Failed When Using RSA Public Key: 'Server Refused Our Key'

Sep 19, 2010

ENV: openssh-server-5.4p1-1.fc13.i686 Problem: I am unable to ssh using Putty (when using ssh-auth/pki) to a fedora box . I get the message: Server refused our key. Here's what I tried so far:

- Tried generating rsa (as well as dsa) keys on the linux server and put the generated public key in the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys. Then I converted the private key using PuttyGen.

- Also, tried generating keys using PuttyGen and then converted the public key and placed it on the server

- Configured the sshd server (ssh_config) for using RSAAuthentication=yes. Tried all combinations and purmutations; however, I still get the "Server refused our key" error.

I setup logging in through putty client with keys, and password disabled, could log in from all machines on my network (xp and 7) with putty. When I finished hut down the server.Today I turned on the server box and thought I'd try logging in through putty. It kept telling me the server was rejecting my key.I plugged in a monitor and keyboard into the server and logged in via password then had no problem logging in through putty client.Question is, every time I shut the server down do I have to plug in the monitor and keyboard, then login, to be able to login remotely?

General :: Batch File To Login To Putty?

Feb 2, 2011

I've created a .bat file with this line: start C:USERSPuttyputty.exe -ssh user@server.com -pw password

That opens a putty session and logged in it with the user and password i've already specified. But now, I want to enter a simple command like "ls -l" for example.. How can I do that?

I've also tried plink...The line in that case is this one:

start C:USERSPuttyplink.exe -v -ssh user@server.com -pw password -m UNIX_commands.txt

and in that file "UNIX_commands.txt" I've added the following lines:

cd /projects/test
ls -l

all works fine (the commands are executed) but i can't see the putty session... all i can see is the verbose in my DOS windows of the last line "ls -l"...

The putty session vanishes away. How can I have the session opened and list the mentioned directory.

I'm interfacing with a device using putty and right now I have to use a reference document to dissect the data I'm sending and receiving. The packets come in varying sizes, but are composed of well-defined fields and values.

CentOS 5 Server :: Login As Postgres User And Enter Commands?

Sep 10, 2010

I've had a server setup working perfectly for the last 2 years. Today we installed a newer version of postgresql and recompiled apache/php.

Postgresql will not start now.

"service postgresql start" = /var/lib/pgsql/data is missing. Use "service postgresql initdb" to initialize the cluster first. To initdb we need to be as user postgres.

"su - postgres" = "no file or directory"

In /etc/passwd = postgres:x:26:26:PostgreSQL Server:/var/lib/pgsql:/bin/bash

how i can login as postgres user and enter these commands?

Server :: Easy To Learn Server-side Language?

Oct 18, 2010

Coming from a C and C++ background, with a little SQL at university, I was wanting to move to web development and implement an idea of mine for evaluating movies. In a nutshell, the idea is this: produce a score for each movie by only taking into account opinions of people of your age and psychological profile, as derived from a questionaire. Or a score derived from the opinions they have given about other movies, the more match there is with your opinions about those movies, the higher the coefficient for their opinion in the production of the movie score. What's the easiest way to implement this, what language is the easiest to learn?

Security :: Disable First Level Login Via Putty

Sep 4, 2010

Is there anyway I can disable an account from being logged in via Putty, but permits someone else to "su" into the account? For example, an application is being run as "app_account". Because there will be multiple people administering this application and the password is shared for this "app_account", I want to disable 1st level login for it. I want to make it such that only the permitted people can "su - app_account", once they have logged into their personal account. How can I do this? If I set app_account's shell to /sbin/nologin, the users are also not allowed to do "su - app_account".
