Today I was using Gchempaint (part of Gnome Chemistry Tools) and found that the F12 version fails miserably to correctly export H to xyz. So I decided to install the latest version I found (0.11). There are, however, some problems I must sort out during compilation.
Apparently it does not see my 'cairo' installation and so I get the following error message:

What am I supposed to do from here? I know libpurple is installed but the package "purple" doesn't even exist. The application I'm trying to install is called gFire by the way.
I've used yum (and rpm) for some time now, and have finally run into one of those dependency problem. I am trying to install git (among other programs), and I have reach an empass. Nothing I've tried has worked, and I just know there is a simple solution to this that I just don't know. It all started by skipping a dependency in the past (don't remember the package). I figured there would be something to clean that up, so I just continued.
Here is my output:

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
If I need to, I could go and download the RPM package and install it that way, but I'd like to get YUM back working properly.
I have a standard Fedora 13 system where it is runnign fine, there it uses the uvcvideo kernel module and gives me a picture in resolution 640x480. Then I have a second system, based on Fedora 8, stripped down to a minimum size (it is working as headless system) and with a self-made kernel 2.6.33.5 that has compiled in i2c-core, v4l1, v4l2 and uvcvideo. There the webcam does not work, as soon as I try to access it with "webcam" of xawtv package I get an error

Beside of that v4l-info tells me, that it can handle a resolution of 176x144 only (instead of 640x480). Beside the difference of the resolution the output of v4l-info is identical on both systems.
I tried to upgrade my Fedora 12 machine using preupgrade to Fedora 13.I went through the initials steps of preupgrade and rebooted when requested.A number of packages were installed until I encountered the following error and the installation quit.
Error Installing Package..A fatal error occurred when installing the tzdata package. This could indicate errors when reading the installation media. Installation cannot continue. Exit installer.Note that before I started the preupgrade processes I updated all packages I had installed in Fedora 12 including yum.
When I try to rpm --resign a package I get file not found error. Its not misstyping its not doing any gpg stuff and it does not ask for passphrase.I then rpmbuild -ba --sign X.specIt makes all the files and dies right where it signs the filesWhy i know its the .rpmmacros it never asks for a passphrase! If I build without --sign it builds 100% and exits normally.

I tried doing a fresh install of F15 today on my computer, and I have a problem. When I try to install to hard drive, I get as far as choosing storage, then it examines storage devices and closes. I get an error that says a package has crashed. (I would post it up, but its not notifying me anymore)

In red hat linux server 6. I start up virtual manager and I get below error prompt:

These are required to create KVM guests locally. Would you like to install them now.
I press yes but the package cannot located ...
So, I have install the qemu-kvn-0.12.1.2.113.el6_0.8.src.rpm already.
I use command rpm -ivh XXX.rpm to install.

I'm logged in as root and want to run Add/Remove Software (Package Installer) but get the message telling me
Code:
Running graphical applications as a privileged user should be avoided for security reasons. Package management applications are security sensitive and therefore this application will now close.
How must I install applications? Surely the world is getting paranoid with all this hackers and viruses, because with every new version O/S, the security features gets more and more; up to the point that you can't fricken do and play around with your pc as you would.
I just did 'yum update' on my system and got a number of errors such as this one:
Code:

I then did another "yum update" and it redid 17 of the 18 successfully. It did not redo f-spot. Here's a snippet of the summary at the end of the first update:

Fedora 14 I recently went to install some software using the source files. When I ran the command ./configure I got a message saying that No package gthread-2.0 not found After searching the internet some one had the same problem. I needed to install a package called glib2-devel However, rather that searching the internet. Is there any yum command that can give me that information?
