I want to change the login screen in Fedora 10. I know in previous versions gdm manager or something like that was used to change this. I have a theme file that I downloaded from Gnome-look, but I can't use it in Fedora 10 because gdm wasn't included in 10 or something? How can I sort this, and does anyone know if gdm is making a return in Fedora 11?
i'm running F15 with the Gnome 3 shell and also changed the shell's style to a theme called 'Zukitwo', it can be found here..
follow the instructions in the 'Install' document closely, i found after installing a different package manager called 'Yum Extender' which made things simpler for me, i installed the 'Gnome tweak tool', 'gnome-shell-extensions-user-theme'' and 'gnome-shell-extension-common'', but i also had to install the latest 'Murrine GTK2 engine' for the 'Zukitwo' theme to be recognised in the 'Gnome tweak tool', the location i chose to copy the Zukitwo folders to was.. /home/your username/.theme I'd like to now change just the style of the Fedora 15 login window(as in username/password popup box), but without changing my background wallpaper that being used, i have found a 'login' box style from a website below which i'd like to use.
is changing just this part of the 'login' box style possible without altering the exsisting background, and how might this be done?
I've tried to change the log-in screen on Fedora 15 (gnome3) to have a custom background, however none of the guides I've found have worked - I'm now left with a blue background with no image. They all follow the same instructions as this guide. (I did change the address and PID to my own ones, although the PID was always increasing everytime I typed it) If I type this into the terminal logged in as my user I just get my desktop background changing, although I'm assuming this is correct.

Just installed F11. Been totally frustrated all day and all night with resolutions and DNS bugs. I installed system-config-display so I can get my video working properly. However, my monitor says it's out of range only on the login screen. How can I change the resolution for the login screen to match that of my working environment?

But I don't find that way on fedora now. The theme package I download is named GDM-BrasillinuxEye.tar.gz . I download it from official web [URL] .

I tried to change the name of the default user I created when I installed Fedora 14 to" Administrator". That apparently succeeded, but the login screen still shows the original name I specified. How do I go about changing that. don't need to change the home directory or anything else for that user.

After trying to personalize GDM's login screen, I have been able to change the background (If anyone know how to personalize GDM's login screen, Sometimes when I go on the login screen, I see a gray box without anything on it (I try ALT+CTRL+F# and ALT+CTRL+BACKSPACE) but nothing is shown. (No user list nor white box to enter username). So I must restart while it doesn't appear. Here is what GDM's error log gives me ( /var/log/:0-greeter.log ) :
Code: Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "atk-bridge": libatk-bridge.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory (gnome-settings-daemon:1686): Bonobo-WARNING **: Bonobo must be initialized before use (process:1705): DEBUG: Greeter session pid=1705 display=:0.0 xauthority=/var/run/gdm/auth-for-gdm-dn4VnG/database (gnome-settings-daemon:1686): GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL **: gdk_pixbuf_format_get_name: assertion `format != NULL' failed
How do we go about changing the login page so that it is not a drop down listing all the users? I'm looking to configure the login to be like how RHEL 5 and below is. Where you have to type in the account name, then it prompts for the password. I don't want the system to show a user history.
With the new changes to RHEL 6, and it being more inline with Fedora, how do you change the login screen background? I'm talking about the main login screen, not after you have logged in and need to change the desktop background. We use a custom background for machines in our lab, and need to implement this on 6.
Every time I log in, I get 5 alerts. When I check them out, there is nothing to see. Everything is blank. I'm tired of seeing this lousy popup each time I login. How can I fix this? Also, how do I change the systems default keymap to dvorak (before login screen)
