Fedora Servers :: Php Not Seeing Mysql Module Installed ?

Mar 4, 2009

long time user of redhat, first time user of fedora...

Installed fedora 10 to the hard drive (building a new web server, switched from RHEL5)

Started to install everything I need, apache, php, mysql, odbc, iseries access for linux, etc...

Got to the php modules, installed php-odbc, php-mysql, etc... but php doesn't see the mysql module

doing a phpinfo() produces -without-mysql

uninstalled it, reinstalled it (this is all done through kpackagekit so far) - no good

uninstalled and tried to reinstall via yum, no good

all the config files are fine - copied my php.ini from the old server and let the installs create the new mysql ini files

how to get it in ? this is my last step before i can begin pen and vulnerability testing it.

General :: Install The Python Module For Gnash?

Aug 5, 2011

How do I install the Python module for Gnash?

But apart from that, what basic concept am I not understanding about installing packages on Linux?

I am used to installing packages using package managers - mostly apt-get and zypper. I have occasionally installed from source, often with no trouble. However I recently installed Gnash and discovered that it has a Python binding that must be compiled from source and this has led down a rabbithole making me feel stupider at each turn.

First, I attempt do a ./configure --enable-python in the gnash source dir. This ends up failing with an error that

package pygtk-codegen-2.0 isn't found

The lead developer, Rob Savoye, was kind enough to point me at packages.debian.org, telling me I just need to locate this package. After many failed searches, I found that the python-gtk2-dev package contains this ... file? script? Great, but I couldn't figure out how to obtain the python-gtk2-dev package. It doesn't exist in any of my openSUSE configured repositories.

So I headed to the GNOME site and searched, found that the PyGTK package contains pygtk-codegen. Download the tarball, cd, ./configure, and this fails because I don't have GLIB. After some more searching I use zypper to install glib2-devel (libglib-2.0 was already installed), and now PyGTK fails to configure because I don't have GObject.

Find that, download tarball, cd, ./configure, fail. I don't have gobject-introspection-1.0, apparently. I DO have gobject-introspection installed, and it's version is ≥ 1.0, but that's what the script says.

So I will readily admit I am new to Linux, but I have to be missing some basic step here. Can anyone give me a clue about any of the above? Is it normal to have to install one dependency after another like this? Is OpenSUSE the wrong distro? What would make this process not so horrible?

Fedora :: Streamtuner2 - Pyquery Python Module Missing

Jan 14, 2011

Streamtuner2 installed via yum under either F13 or F14 complains that the pyquery python module is missing. My vague understanding is that it is relevant to parsing some xml. Pyquery doesn't seem to be in rpm form in any of the repositories, but can easily be installed from source:

As root:
yum install mercurial
As a regular user:
hg clone [URL]
cd pyquery
python setup.py build
As root, in the pyquery directory:
python setup.py install

Streamtuner2 works without pyquery, but I'm guessing can parse information about more streams with it.

Fedora :: MYSQL Error 2002 (HY000): Can't Connect To Local MySQL Server Through Socket?

Feb 22, 2011

I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.

Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.

Howver, just been trying to again to fix the problems with downgrading mysql and get:-

Error: Package: mysql-server-5.1.55-1.fc14.i686 (@updates)

Ubuntu Servers :: Webdav Access - When Connect From Nautilus - Says - Access Was Denied

Mar 26, 2010

I'm having a problem with my webdav share. I have a secure webdav folder that gets accessed via a non-standard port and requires basic authentication. I can connect and interact with it fine via cadaver. However, when I try to connect from nautilus, it says "Access was denied." To make it even stranger, sometimes I can click on the folder in nautilus (it still mounts) and access it. Sometimes not (just repeats the error message and won't show me the contents). I may not even un-mount it, but just look at other folder, then click it again and be able to access it, but again - only rarely.

I asked a friend to try connecting from his windows vista computer and it would not work. It would not work from my windows XP virtual computer either. However, it mounts and works just find from my work computer (also Windows XP).

So it seems to be a 50/50 chance that the drive will mount on any given computer/system and work. Do anyone know what the problem may be? I'm guessing user permissions, but I can't figure out what.

I've made sure the webdav folder is owned by www-data and www-data has read access to the password file as well.

When I try connecting from nautilus, I get this in the log file:

Here is one of the (many) sites I've tried looking at: [url]

Ubuntu Servers :: Unable To Access Mysql Database?

Aug 15, 2010

We started our project (it's a website "employee performance appraisal system") in windows by starting with some html forms and then slowlyadded php ,javascript and other stuff in windows we had no issues of insertion and retrieval of data from thedatabase. Now,we decided to shift the entire stuff to drupal the html forms along with those php files but we had 2 issues with this1. the first one was ..we created "page" for each html form and copied the html code into "page" but we didn't find where our pages are getting stored (do they get stored in mysql database that we create for drupal siter do they remain as html pages somwhere?)2.second problem was ...for admin in drupal I gave the username "root" and a password ..similarly for mysql also I gave a password.

now I used phpmyadmin and created another database called "appraisal" which is supposed to hold the data of our website.when I try to insert data into one of the tables of this database (attendance table) ,the following error occured "Attempt to connect failed access denied for user 'root'@'localhost'(using password:NO) cannot run querry insert intoattendance values('x','y')" Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (usingpassword:NO)Also I'm unable to access mysql as a normal user only super user can access and can we unset the password that's required to reach mysqlprompt?

Ubuntu Servers :: Can't Access MySQL Remotely Via PhpMyAdmin?

However since the upgrade it is not able to connect. I get an error #1130 Cannot log in to the MySQL server. The same happens if I try to connect remotely from the command line with: mysql -u root -h -pI'm not sure if this is an iptables/ports problem or a configuration problem on the MySQL end or something else entirely.I've searched and tried the suggestions I've found in various places but none seems to have fixed it.
