Programming :: Pthread_mutex_lock Returning EDEADLK For A Mutex Of Type PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE

May 28, 2010

I am getting following assertion in my application:

pthread_mutex_lock.c:275: __pthread_mutex_lock: Assertion `(e) != 35 || (kind != PTHREAD_MUTEX_ERRORCHECK_NP && kind != PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE_NP)' failed.

all my mutexes are of type PTHREAD_MUTEX_RECURSIVE and as per all the man pages/tutorials, EDEADLK error is to be returned for mutex of type PTHREAD_MUTEX_ERRORCHECK ONLY.I really should not be hitting this assertion.Would some kinda weird memory corruption be causing this? Or is there something more to it that I am not aware of.I am using linux kernel 2.6.2, glibc 2.5 on PPC.

Ubuntu :: Field 'struct' Has Incomplete Type

May 13, 2011

I'm building a symbol table and syntax tree using lex and yacc for a compiler.

I am stuck with an error for too long. I have defined two structures (one for Symbol Table and another for Syntax Tree).

Code:
typedef struct symbolTable{
char name[30];
.....
struct symbolTable *next;

[Code]......

here's the error:

bottomup.y:76: error: field 'info' has incomplete type.

I tried to define the structure definitions in a separate header file and included in .y file but it didn't work out.

I'm trying to get this done ASAP.

OpenSUSE :: Initial Keypresses Lost After A Pause Or When Starting To Type Into A Text Field?

Sep 12, 2010

I have just done a fresh install of OpenSuse 11.3 I am using KDE4.When I move my mouse and click on a text field, I start typing and the first few keypresses are ignored. Or if I stop typing and pause for a bit without moving the mouse or doing anything, then when I press the next key it is ignored again.If I go to System settings -> accessibility, neither slow keys, bounce keys or sticky keys are ticked.The effect of this is that if I momentarily pause for thought in the middle of writing then sometimes half a word can go missing. Unfortunately this makes the desktop extremely difficult to use as I am always having to check that all my key presses have been accepted.

Ubuntu Networking :: DHCP Server Not Handing Out Addresses?

Networking :: Cannot Access Public Web And Mail Server From LAN Addresses

Aug 5, 2009

I have two nagging problems on one network which I do not have on another elsewhere, both using uptodate Debian servers. The server is on the private subnet behind a router/adsl modem. The symptoms of the one which does not work

1) Users cannot access their web site from lan. If they try, they get to the router web interface, same as if they entered http:10.0.0.138 which is the router's lan address.

2) Users cannot access smtp or pop3 service using the domain name, they can access it only using the servers LAN address.

I fear that I might have not set up the router properly because appart from that the two servers are almost identical but I do not know where I might have made an error.

General :: Field-terminating Char Appears Within Field Values?

May 18, 2010

I've had a very colorful morning learning the innerparts of Linux's sort command, and have come across yet another issue that I can't seem to find an answer for in the documentation. I'm currently using -t, to indicate that my fields are split by the comma character, but I'm finding that in some of my files, the comma is used (between double-quotes) within values:

Jonathan Sampson,,foo@bar.com,0987654321
"Foobar CEO,","CEO,",ceo@foobar.com,,

How can I use a comma to terminate my fields, but ignore the occurences of it within values? Is this fairly simple, or do I need to re-export all of my data using a more-foreign field-terminator? (Unfortunately, I do not have any control over declaring a different terminator with this particular project).

Fedora Networking :: Can't Access Internet With Web Addresses ?

Jul 7, 2010

I installed Fedora 13 on my laptop today after deleting a badly screwed up Windows XP partition. Everything installed smoothly even my Broadcom drivers but I can't seem to figure out how to get Firefox to access the web with a URL.

I can ping Google, and can get to it in Firefox if I use the IP address from the ping, but going to [url] in Firefox will give me an error message about not being able to find the server at the web address. I was also able to update from the terminal with yum update just fine. I've tried searching Google for some answers, and maybe I just can't phrase my query right, but I found nothing that I could use to try and fix my problem.

I've attached a HardInfo report which I hope could be useful if you need to know what my hardware is (an HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop).

Server :: BIND Not Returning Windows DNS Hostnames

Jan 5, 2010

I have a situation where I have two DNS servers - a BIND one for our Unix hosts and a Windows Server DNS one for the Exchange and other Windows hosts. I set up the BIND server to slave from the Windows one, which it seems to do just fine.

Windows DNS has entries like "_gc._tcp.domain.local" in it, which are needed for domain logins, etc.

However, when I try to use nslookup on those entries, it fails when querying the BIND server. When I do a domain transfer with dig, I get all the answers I expect.

This failure means that the Windows boxes can't query the BIND server for the answers they need. By default, from DHCP, it is the BIND server they get, so that's a big problem. If I manually switch their DNS to the Windows server, it works perfectly.
