After install I tried to add firefox but it wasn't found in any of the repositories. I thought it was supposed to be in there. Thunderbird also wasn't. What repositories do you guys add after install?

I am trying to dual boot Vista and F10 and I have 2 different 400GB hard drives to do it on. On the first HD, I have Vista installed but when I try to install F10 on the second, I get this error message:

I'm doing a Kickstart install of Fedora 11 with a DVD ISO as the installation source and the ks.cfg file in the root folder of the DVD. The error message I get is: "Unable to read group information from repositories. This is a problem with the generation of your install tree."

I have tried main repositories, US ones and the ones recommended in Software Sources as being the best choice, but I get the same response. I can't install any packages because of this. I am curious as to why Firefox 3.6 isn't in the Fedora 12 repositories. I've read the existing threads on this issue, but these threads were started in January/February of this year. It's been what, 8 or 9 months since those threads were created? I installed Fedora 13 at home over the weekend and realized that it uses Firefox 3.6.
I'm not trying beat a dead horse. I understand that people have priorities.
Firefox 3.6 is currently available for Windows, so I'm wondering why and/or when will it be added to the repositories?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running Suse 11.1 64bit, with KDE, recently I received a pop up on my screen, "something about update problems", I used Yast 2 and selected online Update and it couldn't find updates for Nvidia and froze at that point. I dis-enabled that repository and refreshed all of the remaining Repositories individually and it seemed to work. I then went to the repositories listing and selected "Add" and selected "community" repositories and received the following: WARNING Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. What is my problem? How do I acquire the list of community repositories? I can live with out the Nvidia repository for now but would eventually like to get it back.

Dual PII 400, 512Mb with a Promise SuperTrak 100 IDE Array Controller. At present I have only one drive on the controller, configured for 1 JBOD array. I install FC9 with no problem. New partition is created and formatted, Grub is installed, and then... Grub is found and booted, but then I get:

I changed the kernel boot parm "root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00"
After I upgraded from KDE 4.5 to KDE 4.6 I ran into a problem with changing the the status of different repoes from enabled to disabled, and vice versa. As I only did a desktop upgrade it is perhaps just a coincidence and hence the problem may be related to something different. But in any case, if I tick or untick the 'enable' or 'disable' option within the Yast module Software Repositories for the repo I wish to activate or deactivate, nothing happens. Deleting and readding the repoes has no effect, neither has rebuilding the rpm db or zypper refresh. I'm not very familiar with the command-line for these operations so I am grateful if anyone could give me a hint on what to try next.
View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter testing Opensuse 11.4 since it was released, I decided to go back to version 11.3. After installing 11.3 I find I cannot add the community repositories, such as Nvidia, Packman, etc. It attempts to download the repository list but gives the following error message : Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. I've used this DVD before and it installed perfectly. I then tried installing 11.3 from a network cd but got the same error when trying to add a repository. At this point I don't know what to do. Joe

I am meeting some problems on my opensuse 11.2 system in the last week, I see an higher load on CPU and the system seems to swap a lot of time. Checking on dmesg I found that at boot time I have a lot of errors: I paste a little part of the full log at the end of this post

i've just upgraded to Natty, and there are lots of 3rd party software sources that were disabled during the upgrade, and i've enabled them again. But then when i try to refresh my update cache, they fail to download. these are the list of software sources that fail to download:

I just installed ubuntu because the newer versions were not working for me. So I installed 7.10 and there is no repositories that are still up. Is there any repositories that I could add from the newer ones or other distro repositories.

When attempting to install F12 from the DVD I get various messages about needing drivers. The drivers listed seem to run the gamut from network cards to harddrives. I have an SATA drive installed as my primary disk. I have not been able to install any version since F9 so I thought I should finally try to nail down what is going on.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI downloaded and burned the Fedora-13-x86_64-dvd iso to install on my shiny new box (MSI NF980-G65 MB, AMD Phenom II x4 945 CPU, 8GB Corsair DDR3 memory, generic ATAPI DVD drive, 2 500GB SATA drives, 2 1.5TB SATA drives). I boot from the DVD and and take the default install/upgrade option on the menu. I've tried with the default boot options and with about a dozen different options, all give the the same thing.
Looking console 3, shows the following:
ERROR loader: removing ddmode.conf failed
ERROR loader: got to setupCdrom without a CD device
It can't find the CD/DVD drive that it booted from. The install on console 1 is prompting for a driver to load. Do I need to download a driver for a generic ATAPI/IDE CD/DVD drive?

Install went ok, but after rebooting it says: "No root device found. Boot has failed, sleeping forever."
During install from the live CD I didn't "v" the boot (efi or something?) because I thought Grub would take care of everything.
Should I just reinstall again and choose the Fedora bootloader? Won't it mess up Grub?

I installed Eclipse from the repositories and found it is very slow. It takes about 5 minutes to start up. Is that normal?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using F12 for quite some time now...and its working really great...although am still having some problems...but am sure will get used to it. I have a simple wifi setup at my place, with the dsl modem connected directly to the wifi router. For the past couple of days, whenever i try to access some websites it takes me to [URL] web page. with the following error. Theres no website hosted at this address

Couple more thing that i have noticed is
1. when i clear all my history cache cookies etc.....it starts to work fine....for some time.
2. If i type an address like...www.google or www.facebook it shows the same [URL] page with no website hosted error...instead of the default firefox error page.
3. The search toolbar in firefox also doesnt works properly when ever this thing happens......any search will give a 404 error 404 Not Found The requested URL /search?q=test&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a does not exist.
