Networking :: Existing Application Models For NS2 (Network Simulator)?

Jun 22, 2010

I am an undergraduate student doing some work in Cambridge, MA on NS2. As my project/paper relates to simulating different types of applications like FTP, RTP, and SIP, as they relate to commercial products (VoIP, email, bittorrent, http) and congestion, I was wondering if anyone knows of any simulation models already available besides the example ones released by NS2 and the contributed code found at [URL]. Also, does anyone know of any tcl scripts that simulate specific applications (including the transport layer and Internet layer)? I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NS2 2.34

Fedora Networking :: Cannot Start GNS3 Gnome-terminal In F13

Nov 18, 2010

I've tried to access the console in vain. Every time I try to, I get this message

Quote:

Cannot start gnome-terminal -t R1 -e 'telnet 127.0.0.1 2000' > /dev/nul/2>&1 &:No such file or directory

Then i decided to use the xterm client instead. But still didn't work

Quote:

Cannot start xterm -T R1 -e 'telnet 127.0.0.1 2000' >/dev/null 2>&1 &: No such file or directory

The last option I had was using Kconsole (linux kde) but still it doesn't work. And i get the same error message

Quote:

Cannot start /usr/lib/kde4/bin/konsole --new-tab -p tabtitle=R1 -e telnet 127.0.0.1 2000 >/dev/null 2>&1 &: No such file or directory

Fedora :: Wine Won't Go Fullscreen On F11 64bits?

Nov 11, 2009

I've just migrated to Fedora after 2 years of Ubuntu, and I'm rather happy with it, except for one problem left. When I launch a windows program through wine (I've only tried games yet), it won't go fullscreen. I tried everything I fond on the internet: disabling compiz, enabling/disabling virtual desktop, but no matter what, my game is still on a tiny window. I tried switching my resolution to the one of the game, it doesn't change anything. And pressing alt+Enter doesn't change anything either, except sometimes crashing the game. The 32 bits libraries for xorg-nvidia are installed, and I don't see what could cause this problem.

Debian :: Automatically Start Graphical (SDL) Program As Root On Non-graphical Debian?

Mar 3, 2009

I'm not a Linux noob, but I am far from guru. I'm running a single board computer with a slightly customized Debian Etch (customized by the SBC vendor). No Gnome/KDE/X installed. My application is a control application which uses SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) to paint some basic graphics on the VGA. I need to run it as root because the application calls iopl() to access an IO port.If I run my application manually from the command line, life is sweet. From Googling around, I found http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/28, and hence I:1) Created a script in /etc/init.d2) Executed "update-rc.d scriptName defaults" to link the script into the boot sequenceAll very straightforward. My application starts at boot. But when I try to SSH/SFTP into the SBC, I get "Connection refused". So I can't manage the SBC anymore, and this is a big problem. I am not sure if it's relevant, but my application starts before the SSH daemon.My script looked like:

case "$1" in
start)
echo "Starting my application"

[code]...

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Using A UPS That Works With 11.2 64bits?

Sep 8, 2010

I'm looking for a UPS for my computer setup. This one looks interesting:CyberPower CP800AVR 800VA 450W. The docs say: 'HID compliant USB port enables full integration with built-in power management and auto shutdown features of Windows, Linux and Mac OS X' Unfortunately I don't really know what that means? Will it work with OpenSUSE? My machine is not very power hungry buts its not light-weight. It's a quad-core system with 5 SATA disks, 2 burners, a 30" display plus some smaller accessories. It takes about 2-3 mins to shutdown due to all the services I have running on it, so to be safe I need a little margin of shutdown time from there.

Anyone used this UPS? or something similar? APC and Cyberpower are generally easy to get and have models which I can afford.

I edited grub.conf and added

Somewhere I read that that attribute is now obsolete and has to be changed to

Code:

But that did not work either.
