Debian :: Blueman-applet Not Using Current Icon Theme

Jul 16, 2015

I have the Faenza Icon Theme installed, but it seems blueman-applet could care less. The applet's icon does change to use the Bluetooth application icon, but when it is active or disabled, it uses the icons in /usr/share/icons/hicolor/24/status/.

Part of the problem may be that Faenza has the status icon named bluetooth-active/bluetooth-disabled instead of blueman-active/blueman disabled. However, even if I rename these in /usr/share/icons/Faenza/24/status/, nothing changes. If I copy the icons into the first location mentioned and rename them, it does work. I don't have a problem doing this, but if I ever change themes, I'll have to do it again. Anyway I can make it use the icon theme?

Ubuntu :: Windows List Applet Does Not Follow Icon Theme For Certain Applications?

Mar 30, 2011

I am using Faenza Icons, which is reflected in the icons on the throughout the system except in the windows list applet for certain applications like Firefox and Chrome in the gnome panel. The indicator applet and the menu do show Faenza icons for all the items (including firefox and chrome). I am yet to check for other applications which do not follow the icon theme. I want the windows list to be consistent with the menu and it feels strange that certain applications follow their own icons disregarding the theme I have selected.

Ubuntu :: Current Theme Defaults To Silver Theme For No Reason Randomly On Login

May 4, 2011

For some reason, from time to time on login, as my normal theme starts to load, it changes to some sort of silver theme (a very basic one), and I am unable to change it over to any other theme. Checking the theme being used, it still says my desired one is set, but it is not. Also, no matter what theme I change it to, that basic silver theme is the one being used. This includes a default icon theme, not the one I prefer.

The only option that seems to fix things is a restart, and the hope that on this login it won't mess up like before.I am using Natty, from a fresh install, with Ubuntu Classic as my desktop, and have reinstalled things more than once to try and fix a few of the Natty-related issues, but this one keeps coming back.

Ubuntu :: Inconsistency Of Icon Emblems When Using Custom Icon Theme?

Feb 16, 2011

I have recently installed Faenza icon theme and just began to notice the inconsistency of icon emblems being displayed by compiz.Attached image shows the emblems of Chromium, Nautilus and Comix are that of the default icons, while Empathy andCompizConfigSettingsManager displayed the custom icon correctly. The dock displays all apps' icons correctly though. The issue does not occur exclusively to Application Switcher (Alt+Tab), it also occurs with Scale (Super+W), Shift Switcher (Super+Tab).

I d/l an empty and full trash icon. I looked in the /home/username/.icons/themename folder and found the two trash icons that came with the theme (they were in ~/.icons/themename/scalable/places). Changed the names of the ones I d/l and replaced those current ones with them.how to do this? I would also like to change the Menu Bar icon back to the gnome foot.

Software :: Will Current GTK Theme Stop Working?

May 13, 2011

I am using Arch with Gnome 2.32 installed a couple weeks before Gnome 3 was out. And this means I use GTK 2 themes for GTK apps (if I'm not mistaken...). I have some awesome theme which I modified and my WM is IceWM, so it's just for GTK programs. And I don't wanna switch this theme to any other. So the question is: if I update Gnome 2 to Gnome 3, will my current GTK theme stop working? I won't update any piece of software untill the strong need, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to use my fave GTK 2 theme with newest Gnome.

Debian :: Blueman Input Service Missing

Jul 16, 2015

I'm a recent convert from Linux Mint to Debian for use with an HTPC media center.

I've been using Kodi + Playstation BD Remote for some time successfully with Mint.

I'm having issues getting the remote to work under Debian.

Typically I've been able to pair with Blueman and connect to the Input Service, however, under Debian, There are no "Input Serivce" options in the menus of Blueman..?

I don't know if this is because I'm missing some package that enables this or because my remote is not recognized as an input device. I suspect it is the former, because a bluetooth keyboard I have doesn't expose the "Input Service" menu option either.

Debian :: Blueman Connection Failed (Jessie)

Oct 18, 2015

I recently Installed debian 8.2 on my toshiba satellite l505-es5034. Using cinnamon desktop.

Did googling regarding how to get my insignia usb bluetooth dongle functioning and ended up installing blueman.

It can search for devices but when i try to connect to my logitech bluetooth adapter for my stereo it reads "Connection Failed: No such file or directory"

saw on arch linux wiki that this may happen if the user isnt in the lp group so I added the user to the group and still the same result.

I tried connecting to my phone with same result. No issue pairing, connection failed.

General :: Force X To Re-theme All Open Windows To Current X Resources?

Aug 24, 2010

I've got a ~/.Xdefaults that has a specific color theme defined for Xorg, and this works. I've got a ~/.XdefaultsNew that specifies an alternate color theme. Xorg starts and loads ~/.Xdefaults which is correct. After running some applications, I run

xrdb ~/.XdefaultsNew

This overrides all my X resources to the new defined values (correctly). If I open a new window, the theme is seen correctly. However, all the previously opened windows retain the original theme. Is there a way to force X to "re-theme" all windows it is managing with the currently loaded X resources?

Ubuntu Networking :: Nm-applet Icon Missing From Panel

Jul 2, 2011

In 11.04 on a Dell Latitude D610 laptop, there are two logins. User1 has sudo privs, User2 does not. When either user logs in, network-manager picks up on whatever remembered wireless network is available, connects, and the nm icon shows in the panel. If the other user logs in (via Switch User), the connection persists, but the nm icon does not show in the panel.

Under 11.04 it appears there is no way to put the nm icon back in the panel, even when the connection is set to "available to all users", and even when the user missing the icon is User1 (who has sudo privs). If control is now switched back to the first user who logged in, the nm icon is still there, and the system is still connected, but if that user logs off (rather than clicking Switch User), the connection is dropped, and when the other user gives their password to resume their session, there is now neither connection nor an icon with which it can be re-established.

This would appear to be a bug, but is there a way to ***FORCE*** the nm icon to appear in the panel? The connection is already set to "available to all users", and doing a networking start does not do anything. Under 11.04 it appears that there is no way to make any icon appear in the panel if it is not already there.

OpenSUSE :: Changing GTK And Icon Theme In Gnome3?

Apr 8, 2011

I'm slowly getting used to Gnome 3 and trying to give it a chance. After a few oddities (like it swallowing my Gnome Shell and Tilda invocations because I use Super in them) then I think I'm slowly getting used to it. There are still some things I miss from Compiz, but it has potential and I like some bits (the notifications and dialogs).I don't know what got upgraded, but my themes seemed to be working before yet today I've got the default Sonar rather than my darker Sonar theme with a fixed Chromium style. I've managed to change the titlebar theme, but I can't change the GTK theme or the icon theme.

Running "gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface icon-theme" reports "Tango-green", but I still have the default icon theme and using Appearances only partially works.Running "gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme" reports "SonarLighter" (the menu bar is lighter to match the Uniq theme) but I'm definitely seeing Sonar.I've tried gnome-tweak-tool from someone's OBS, but various dependencies seem to be missing (first it bails with the wrong GI version, then I updated some other bits and tried again, but even after switching a dozen or more packages then it never started).
