Debian :: Flash Audio Just Stopped Working?

Jan 1, 2011

So everything was working perfectly on my system. I have Debian SID, with the debian-multimedia repos and liquorix repos for kernels. Flash worked perfectly one boot, then the next boot the video still works perfectly but no audio. I found several "fixes" on the web, including creating .asoundrc in your home directory and another that said to
Quote:edit /etc/firefox/firefoxrc -- change the line FIREFOX_DSP="none" to FIREFOX_DSP="aoss"neither of those have done anything. Have tried using both the flashplugin-nonfree and flashplayer-mozilla, same thing on either. ALL other sound works, smplayer, amarok, system sounds, etc.

Debian :: Flash In Iceweasel Stopped Working

Apr 27, 2010

I just got a new pc after my two pc's decided to die. I have had them for many years, maybe around 2001. So, I am new to this 64 bit OS. I'm running squeeze amd64. I am having some troubles with flash in Iceweasel. It just stopped working one day. So, I downloaded Firefox to see if flash would work in it. Here's the interesting thing. Iceweasel will play flash. I will close the browser and reopen to discover it no longer wants to play flash. I'll open Firefox, then close it. I'll then open Iceweasel and Flash will work in Iceweasel again.

This happens often. To get Flash to work, I just close Iceweasel, open Firefox, close Firefox, open Iceweasel and go to a flash site and all is good. Is there something I can do to get Flash to always work without opening Firefox?

Ubuntu :: Flash Stopped Working Even With Flash-Aid

i've suddenly got problems with flash - it was working fine until a cuple of days ago.i have flash 10.1.82. 76 ubuntu0.10.04.2 on ubuntu 10.04, but videos and other flash sites tell me i need to upgrade to the latest flash version 10.i've tried flash-aid, which seems to run ok but i still have the the same time, i can suddenly only run firefox tools > add-ons in safe mode - if i choose tools > addons in normal mode, fx locks up completely, and finally gives me the option to force quit. i've tried re-enabling add-ons one at a time, but no problem until i come out of safe mode.i'm wondering if this is a firefox problem rather than ubuntu or flash. my firefox is 3.6.8

Ubuntu :: Audio Stopped Working On 9.10 X64

Jun 23, 2010

I have a media center box running Ubuntu 9.10 x64 and XBMC. One day sound just stopped working on it. I did not install any updates around the time this happened. I have tried using a known working sound card. I verified the main volume is up and everything else in alsamixer looks OK. I have tried connecting known working headphones. Confirmed the kernel sees the hardware and loads to module for it. Confirmed several audio applications have no sound. I've confirmed it is set to use the correct sound card. I even booted into a live disk of the same version if Ubuntu and audio works fine there.

No errors are produced by any application, they act like they are playing audio just fine. The only entries in the logs about this I can find is below.

I went to the sound, tried a BUNCH of driver combinations, but zip, nada. Whenever I click "Test Sound", all it says it "Audio test failed!", no details or anything.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Audio CDs Stopped Working With Karmic?

Jan 20, 2010

I tried upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic, which borked booting on that partition. I made a fresh install of Karmic on another partition which is booting fine, but I can't get Audio CDs to work, period. They worked in Jaunty and every release before that I had installed. Data CDs work fine in Karmic. I'm using plain ol' Ubuntu 32bit. I'm not sure where to start. There have been other threads where other people had identical symptoms. Either the problem went away mysteriously on its own, or they gave up because nobody believed them. In any case, I'm beginning to wish I had stuck with Jaunty.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Audio Suddenly Stopped Working?

Oct 24, 2010

I can't get any sound from either online audio or from a CD in drive. I've watched videos with sound with only occasional problems until today. I have been using MPlayer with internal audio 1 output - analog stereo output. When I start a vid, it will begin to D/L and play, but without sound. When I try to check the volume level everything pauses and then my system freezes. Sometimes it will release in a few seconds, but mostly it won't allow me to close Firefox and if I try to close the tab or window or Firefox, I have to reboot. Sometimes the vid will D/L without a problem, but no audio on playback. Oddly, when I bring up the system monitor, processors will show 1 or 2 cores stuck at 100% while the others fluctuate wildly. Download speed falls to almost nothing with occasional blips or nothing. I checked several sites and they all have the same problem. I have checked my physical connections, and bios settings.

There is an option for a RS780 Azalia controller 1 output Digital Stereo (HDMI) output, but I have not been able to make it work since the system was new. I don't know why.

This is the most recent SYSLOG file. The pulse audio errors have always been there, but since it didn't seem to affect playback, I didn't run it down.

Ubuntu :: Flash Stopped Working In 64 Bit Hardy

Jan 15, 2010

I know 64 bit Flash has been a headache, but mine was working until yesterday. Symptoms began with it not working in Opera and Seamonkey. I checked the Adobe site and found what appears to be a later version, so I downloaded it, extracted it, then copied it to the relevant directories. That changed nothing at the time, but this morning it stopped working in Firefox as well.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Flash Stopped Working In 8.04?

Jul 9, 2010

I'm still using the last LTS 8.04. Getting ready to upgrade to the newest version

Flash was working perfect until one of the last software updates. Now all I get is "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed."

I tried running:

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-installer and got the following message"

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package flashplugin-installer

If anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated. I'd really like to get Flash working again before I build a new box and upgrade to 10.04.

Slackware :: Flash Mysteriously Stopped Working

Feb 16, 2010

With Firefox 3.6 from the official repository, and the flash-player-plugin from installed here. It's worked fine up until now, where websites either claim it's not installed, or show a blank box instead.NoScript is installed on my Firefox, but given that on fully trusted pages (of which there are very few) it still happens, and nothing else blocks Flash besides AdBlock and Firefox's own settings (both checked too) I suspect the plugin.I also tried downloading direct from Adobe, and plonking the in /usr/lib / mozilla/plugins and making a backup of the original one (The one provided from Slacky's package) but to no avail. So it seems to be the plugin, but for inexplicable reasons.Would anyone happen to be able to explicate this inexplicability?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Flash Stopped Working After Update?

You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version".So, I clicked on the download link, which took me to the Adobe site where I selected APT for Ubuntu 10.04+, but that didn't make any difference, so I then tried to view the same video using Firefox, but that displayed the same message.Could someone please tell me what I need to do, in order to get Flash working again?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Connexant / NVidia Audio Just Randomly Stopped Working?

Mar 18, 2011

My Compaq Presario F739WM laptop has a Connexant HD Audio/NVidia MCP51 (reported by lspci) sound card.Ubuntu has always supported the card with no problem except the random popping noise but then I found a work around for that. Now for some reason, when I first turn on my computer and at login screen I can hear Ubuntu noises, yet seems once I login, no more sound or sometimes the successfully logged in sound.

The only changes that I have since the sound worked, was I installed pulseaudio but that caused no problems with that. The other change was a few kernel upgrades and other packages through normal update manager.I have checked that snd_hda_intel driver was loaded in the kernel and in alsa, all seems well.Pulse detects audio output in it's meter.I also tested the sound card to make sure it wasn't bad, in Windows 7 (dual boot) and it wokrs perfectly.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Flash Working Videos But No Audio

I've been playing around with the latest RC of 11.4. Overall, it works great, but just have 1 issue. No flash videos have audio. Video works just fine. I've tried installing both the flash-player package so that it loads the official 32-bit plugin through ndiswrapper, and tried downloading the Adobe Square 64-bit plugin and installing it. Doesn't make a difference, either way I have working video but not audio. Audio itself on the laptop works with no issues, I listen to Amarok all the time on it. Laptop in question is a Dell Latitude E5500. I've also had Debian Wheezy and Kubuntu 10.10 on here, both had no issues.

Debian Multimedia :: Flash Audio Has Weird Beeping Noise After Update?

May 15, 2011

Here's what I updated yesterday The following NEW packages will be installed:libboost-program-options1.46.1{a} python-chardet{a} python-debian{a}

Whenever I play a flash object that has sound, there is this repetitive beeping noise audible over the audio track. I've tried this on different videos and different sites, always with the same result. Whenever I play a multimedia file in Iceweasel, for example [URL]... plodes.ogv , the sound is normal, as is the sound for any multimedia file that I play in MPlayer. So, I am convinced it is a flash issue. What I don't get is why this just started happening for no apparent reason.

Software :: Flash Audio Frozen In A Loop In Firefox On Debian After Some Hours Of Usage?

Aug 10, 2010

my system:
Debian v.5.0.5,
architecture: i686,
Firefox 3.6.3 (but had the same problem with older versions of Firefox),
Flash: Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32

After a fresh X start, Flash works without any problems for a day or so but then at some point the audio starts to freeze in a loop (sounds like an old record with a scratch) and the video also freezes up. This happens while listening to, but the same problem affects other flash videos on other sites but apparently only if they have an audio track, so I think it is mostly an audio buffer problem.Restarting Firefox doesn't seem to help but when I log out and start a new session (rebooting is not necessary) it is fine again.Does anybody else have that problem? I couldn't find anything so far and I don't have rootaccess to this machine, so I'm a bit restricted.Does anybody know which files flash writes to for buffering stuff? Maybe I can just delete a file that has been somehow corrupted instead of restarting? It's quite annoying if you have lots of applications running

Debian :: Wakeonlan Stopped Working On Upgrade To Jessie

Jul 2, 2015

Dell Vostro 230 with integrated Broadcom NIC.

Wakeonlan was working just fine with Wheezy on this machine. After upgrade, wakeonlan will resume from suspend but not from shutdown.

I have no problem with other machines (same software setup) after upgrade. None of my other machines have a broadcom NIC.

No BIOS settings were changed during the upgrade. If I enter the BIOS on boot and make sure settings are correct then 'save' and shutdown, without booting to debian, I can then successfully wakeonlan. Then, if I do not boot debian, but shutdown before debian starts, I can wakeonlan successfully again.

If I boot debian and then shutdown, game over: wakeonlan nolonger works.

$ ethtool eth0 | grep -i wake
Supports Wake-on: g
Wake-on: g

A bit of research found the suggestion:

$ lspci -tv | grep -i ether
+-1c.2-[02]----00.0 Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57788 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe

$ cat /proc/acpi/wakeup
Device S-state Status Sysfs node
P0P2 S4 *disabled
P0P3 S4 *disabled

[Code] ....

How to get wakeonlan working under Jessie with a Broadcom BCM57788?

Normally to start scim I press Ctrl and the space bar at the same time. Then I use the input method Cangjie to input Chinese.

Now when I do so in Libreoffice-writer "English/European" appears in the scim panel. The other choice is "English/Keyboard". The choice of either doesn't enable me to input Chinese.

In all other software scim works as before.

The computer runs Debian sid. On another computer that runs Debian sid too I don't have the same problem. I have version 5 of Libreoffice on both computers.
