Despite enabling the "auto-complete" to complete an e-mail address from my personal Address-book, it doesn't work. After pressing on the "To"-button, no e-mail address is visible in the list of contacts. That is strange since the contacts are visible within the address book itself. However, when I typed the name of a contact within the "Search"-field of the address book, it also shows no result. Strange... Additional info: two days ago I replaced addressbook.db in Debian manually by the addressbook.db from Ubuntu 11.04 (I'm migrating from Ubuntu 11.04 to Debian Squeeze). It seems that there is no connection between the visible contacts in the address book and the rest of the Evolution. How can I solve it?
how to remove some email addresses from the auto-completion list which appears when starting to enter a new mail address into the "to:" field. Since I'm using Evolution for several years now there are a lot of e-mail addresses which are either obsolete or simply incorrect.
I have wiped Windows and am running 10.04 exclusively. 32 bit, when setting up evolution e mail account i dont see where to enter password....where is it? anyone have link with screenshots? i know i can use regular hotmail but want to know how to use default ubuntu programs.
I still can't find a spot for password. options are, login, set preferences and a remember password checkbox but nowhere to enter a password
I opened a thread about this issue over two months ago, I opened thread at the Gnome board for the same issue but that board is dead. I never received a reply of any sort. Well Evolution used to work for me but after some updates it stopped working. A few weeks after that another update fixed it then another update came along and of course screwed it all up. Since then I am hoping some new update will fix it but no can do.Since my trouble started Evolution was even updated to a new version 2.30.2. Evolution does not connect to my mail POP server, as a matter of fact "send & receive" and the little icon bottom left on the status bar are grayed out. I have removed gnome and evolution and reinstalled with no results.
I switched to Icedove but when I forward emails Icedove gives me a header that is 10 times longer than the contain of the email itself. I could live with that if I only send emails to family and friends but I also send professional emails. I ended up installing a copy of MS Outlook for now but I really don't like it.
After installing Epiphany and Evolution, I am unable to paste any text into Evolution compose box and gnome-terminal. Neither Ctrl+V nor Rightclick>>Paste work. However, middle-mouse button click pastes text.
I am on Debian Squeeze.
PS: I am sure Ctrl+V doesn't work in gnome-terminal, but rightclick>>paste should work. And in evolution compose box both Ctrl+V and rightclick>>paste should work.
I've been running the Evolution mail system under Fedora-15/KDE for about a month now, and it has some very serious problems. I just noticed that it is available for SUSE, and figured that since KDE is the principal desktop supported by KDE the SUSE version may be fixed. Before I go through the very tedious process of getting the SUSE version to compile on Fedora, I'd like to know whether anyone has seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution:It ignores font control from the KDE Settings->Applications Appearance window, both KDE font control and GTK+ font control, also its own internal font control window.
It has trouble sending messages to an SMTP server, sometimes taking a l-o-n-g time, sometimes timing out. This can be temporarily cured by restarting it It crashes when a filter attempts to refile an outgoing message. It often asks if I want to recover messages that have never been lost. It often locks up receiving mail from a remote POP3 server. I can live with these, except for items 1 and 2, since I have workarounds. If you are fairly sure that you have not seen these problems with the SUSE version of Evolution
I've been searching this forum and the rest of the web for days now for a good software for a CLI Debian installation that will take links to file sharing sites such as Rapidshare, Megaupload, Uploading, DepositFiles etc and download them when possible (wait for timer to run out and so on).The only thing i've found so far is Slimrat but i dont seem to get it working with WWW::Mechanize even after trying to update it through CPAN
I have set up postfix and dovecot as per the Ubuntu anual and appear to have a functioning mail server.Using the sendmail command I can send mail and I receive mail in ~/Maildir. Using Thunderbird I can read any mails received but I can't send any mail from Thunderbird. I have tried with both STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and whilst I get the prompt for a password I keep getting the message my password for my server is wrong.I have ports 25, 465, 587 and 993. Is that all the right ports? When I ping my domain name it resolves to my router name whereas I believe it should resolve to my IP. Could there be a problem with my host file? I've had a play but to no avail. Here's the error in mail.log.
After running Pine remotely to view some mail on the server, I can no longer access those emails remotely with Evolution or Outlook Express. I know the mail is still there on the server someplace, because it still appears in Pine's "INBOX" folder. But that is clearly not the same as the "Inbox" folder for that account which appears in Evolution and Outlook Express, which is now empty. How can I configure Evolution to re-access those emails?
Ubuntu 10.04. I want to change the startup sound and the mail alert sound (incoming mail) for Evolution Mail Client. I go to System > Preferences > Sound, and all I get are themes preset. I do not have option to browse to wav files. I also do not see a browse option in Email Settings. Do I have to change an actual file?
I've had sound problems for a very long time with Ubuntu. It once worked fine. Then it got distorted, but I used headfones so that solved that. But now it seems its completely disfunctional. The sound doesn't work at all.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Evolution 2.28.3. I have Evolution configured to use my gmail contacts. When composing a message, entering addresses does not automatically resolve in any way. In order to use an address from my contacts, I need to click on the To: button and select contacts from the list. The list itself is fine - all my contacts are present. Is there any way to have Evolution automatically resolve email addresses as I type?
I have a simple question.i am using ubuntu 9.10 on my acer aspire one.i have a hotmail account with folders in it.i can setup evolution to download the mails from my inbox but it wont download the mails from my folders.I want to mirror my folders that are setup on hotmail server.c

I am currently using 2.6.32-22-generic #36-Ubuntu, The last part of the O/P from gdb evolution --ex r --ex "t a a bt" --ex q [New Thread 0xadaafb70 (LWP 16877)] [New Thread 0xad1c2b70 (LWP 1687] [New Thread 0xac5ffb70 (LWP 16879)]
Basically I messed up setting up Evolution with my Hotmail account, and I want to start again...however I can't do that. I have uninstalled it from the software centre, but when I reinstalled it, Evolution has remembered all my settings
is there anyway to have mail go to a diffrent folder in evolution.. here is what i mean... i have my main email go to inbox.. i would like other accounts to go to another folder i have a seprate email address for facebook cause it gets bogged down, it would be nice to have this go to my Facebook folder by default instead of filling my inbox..
I am new to this forum and essentially new to Linux, (I used unix between 95 and 99) but the cobwebs are still very thick. I installed Ubuntu 10.10 on an extra PC. I have it pretty much as I would like it now, except for email. I am trying to use Evolution and it is sending mail fine. I cannot receive email. I believe this is because my DSL provider, Windstream.net, says they support only Outlook and Windows Live mail. I could be way off base, but it seems that it should be able to work. When I mentioned Linux, it basically shutdown their help. I have email through them on Windows 7 on another PC. Is there some way around this so I can use the email address firstname.lastname@example.org ? Oh, they use pop3 and require authentication, which is what I have configured. I do not get any error messages, just never get the email. Perhaps another email package?
I'm using Debian 5.0.4 with shell access only, exim4 and mutt. I would like 'all' outgoing mail sent by any/all users to be auto'ed CC (not BCC) to a specified e-mail account for auditing purposes. I do have it working for BCC using 'unseen', but I really want it be CC. I have spent hours of searching/reading/testing and have not been able to find out how. I have seen it done on other shells I've been on as a user; any mail that I sent out, I did not see it was being CC'd but once the recipient received it was also addressed 'email@example.com').
It's not practical to add an alias for every user on the system (/etc/aliases) and to remember to do so each time adding a user. If I set in etc/profile alias mail= mail toaddr Users can still find ways around that.
I have just upgraded to F11 (from F9) and most things work pretty well. I can't read DVDs or CDs but I see there is another thread open on that, and VMWare-player has a few problems but otherwise I an a reasonably happy camper. The "new mail notification" in Evolution won't play my sound. Other sound apps work OK (mplayer, amarok etc) and I can play the .wav file in question simply by hovering the mouse over it in Nautilus - so I know it's not a general sound problem (and besides - I have followed Silpheed2k's guide here). In the Evolution plugins dialogue the sound file is selected, but the test button doesn't play it and when new mail arrives the other notification methods (pop up message + blinking icon) work just fine. It worked in F9 with the same sound file.
I had a problem with my OpenSUSE with Tumbleweed repository enabled that required me to do a hard power off of my ASUS N61JV-X2 notebook PC. I had Evolution running at the time. When I did a cold boot of my laptop and I ran Evolution again, it does not display my e-mail messages anymore. In fact, I had to install Mozilla Thunderbird with the Enigmail extension so that I can read and write e-mail messages.
How do I fix Evolution so that it will retrieve and display my e-mail messages and I can write new ones using this software package?
