Software :: Download Some Images From A Website - Single Column Of Links To The Images?

Jul 26, 2010

I am running Linux from a DVD, not installed. I am not good with installing software, but since the DVD cannot be corrupted, I am content to operate this way. Lately, I have been having problems that previously did not occur. When I try to click on the checkbox to get rid of emails, it doesn't register in most cases, or when it does, I am clicking multiple times so it registers twice, meaning it is unchecked again. Even more frustrating is some issues that are affecting my ability to update my business. I am trying to modify spreadsheets (text not calculations).

Whenever I try to click & drag to select something to change, it keeps jumping around to select only some of what I want, something else or some combination of the 2. When I try to copy and paste several fields from 1 column to another, everything from the several fields in the source column ends up together in the last field in the target column. I am also trying to download some images from a website. There is a single column of links to the images. I have to click on the link to get to the image in order to copy it, then back out to continue looking for more links to do the same.

My computer keeps jumping back 2 steps, then forward 2 steps, and sometimes I lose my place in that list. I could deal with it if it were a small number of links, but this is a list of probably close to 20,000 links. Again, i am operating off of a live DVD so this should not be corruptible, but this has just started happening, and has been an issue the last several sessions.

Ubuntu :: Archive Daily Images From Webcam-Server?

May 12, 2011

I was just wondering if there is a way (and seeing as how this is Linux we are talking about here, there probably is...) to make a fully functional webcam-server on Ubuntu 10.04.2 save images daily, or weekly? I have a perfectly installed webcam-server running on my website that you just refresh, and it gives you a current image, but I was wanting to have a daily type of archive thing with it, just because.

Debian Multimedia :: Images Of All Kinds Missing

Oct 31, 2015

I have a problem with my Debian 8 installation. This morning I was playing around with libvirt and virt-manager while I was routinely installing updates using apt-get. While doing that, my system crashed (probably because of the running Win8 VM). After resetting (in hardware), I got access to the emergency console where I tried executing "dpkg --configure -a" which worked.

After restarting, I first noticed that the login screen background (just the normal Jessie one on LXDM) was missing and the screen was black instead. After logging in, I saw that nearly every image/icon/whatever is missing. For example:

- the icons in lxpanel (I use LXDE)
- the copy and paste icons nearly everywhere
- the New Tab icon in Firefox
- many more icons
- the desktop and login background

A few images are still there:
- interestingly, the lxpanel icons are replaced by "icon missing" icons which still work
- most icons in Firefox except for New Tab
- all images of LibreOffices (so this problem might be Gtk+ only)

Some programs don't work (obviously because they can't load their menu icons and don't a fallback). An example for this would be Inkscape. It crashes at start:

Code: Select all(inkscape:2513): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'document-open' for stock: Format der Bilddatei unbekannt
(inkscape:2513): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'document-open' for stock: Format der Bilddatei unbekannt
(inkscape:2513): Gtk-WARNING **: Error loading theme icon 'document-open' for stock: Format der Bilddatei unbekannt

[Code] .....

Note: I use a German system. "Format der Bilddatei unbekannt" means something like "Format of image file is unknown", "Bildtyp 'xpm' wird nicht unterst├╝tzt" means "xpm image type is not supported".

Concerning the desktop background, I looked at /etc/alternatives/desktop-background and found a correct SVG image which was the one I had before.

How I could restore these images?

CentOS 5 :: Website Timeout Daily And Return A Nscd Not Found Error?

Feb 4, 2010

I was having a problem on my squid server whereby 1 website would timeout daily and return a nscd not found error: [url]....There may be other sites but this is the only one I know of. A selection of other sites still work correctly, which is the strange thing.I have found that by restarting the dns cache everything works again: /etc/init.d/nscd restart.I never know quite when this will timeout so it is not very good for people accessing that site on the server.

Debian :: Postscript Images - Openshot Not Working Due To Missing Dependencies

Mar 21, 2011

A day or two ago I saw a weird file in my downloads folder, and deleted it. I'm not sure why I deleted it rather than wondering why there was a weird file there, but anyway...another one has shown up.

name: datetime
type: PS document (application/postscript)

It's an image. The top part of the image shows what I was doing in a terminal last night. The bottom part shows a folder I was browsing in Nautilus. I believe the top and bottom parts are from different times. I'm a little weirded out, it's like something is taking screenshots of what I'm doing. Anyone happen to know what program created these or why?

OpenSUSE Network :: Some Website's CSS/images Won't Load?

Feb 2, 2009

Ever since switching to openSUSE 11.1, I have been having problems with certain websites (using the version of Firefox that came with openSUSE 11.1). Some website's CSS code won't load until repeated reloads - for example, wachovia.com. I'll visit the website and it will be all distorted because the stylesheets did not load, and I will have to refresh a number of times before it becomes usable. Other website's images won't load until multiple refreshes, like facebook.

Is this an openSUSE issue? An openSUSE interaction with Firefox issue? I've never had this problem on XP or Ubuntu.

I have a weird problem I am experiencing with my Apache 2.2 w/ ISPConfig 3 running on Debian 5.0.4. It is not a website html issue.***PROBLEM***Images are not beind displayed, javascripts are not being run, however when the site is viewed from a local source as a file(like on a USB Flash Drive) they work fine and display properly. Here is the website URL:I have removed a lot of the images and content or changed it in order to troubleshoot it myself, so the site is stripped pretty bare. There is supposed to be a logo inside the "header" <div>, which is set in the CSS file "style.css". There are supposed to be images for navigation, but they show up as red "x"'s. I removed the javascript elements and just trying to work with barebone html/css and can't seem to get it to display properly.

Debian Installation :: Daily Netinst Iso Can't Be Read For Boot On Virtualbox

Sep 17, 2010

I am trying to build a test VM with VirtualBox 3.2.8, hosted on Ubuntu 10.04 amd64. I am trying to install Debian Squeeze from the daily build (specifically, from the following URL):

[URL]

(I've also tried the netinst ISO in the same directory.) The sha1sums are correct for each image.

When I start the VM, it refuses to boot, giving me the message "FATAL: No bootable medium found! System halted."

I would like to note that I've used VirtualBox for several years now, and GNU/Linux since 1995. So I have some experience in the field. (Of course experience is not much guard against brown-bag mistakes.) I've tried this same VM with an Ubuntu ISO (simply switching the attached ISO in the config), and it boots and installs OK.

Is there a known problem with the daily builds vs. VirtualBox?

Debian Multimedia :: Screen Settings (resolution) Reset To Auto Daily

Sep 3, 2015

I'm a relatively new Debian user, having come from Ubuntu. I recently bought a Dell micro-server to function as my Kodi media player. I installed an nVidia GeForce 210 to output to my Pioneer home theatre amplifier. The amp takes all my inputs (eg. Satellite set-top decoder, PS3, Kodi etc) and outputs to the TV. I installed XFCE as my desktop environment so that I could still interact with it via VNC.

Everything is working great except for one exceptionally annoying problem! Every day, I find that I am having to VNC into the desktop, load up nVidia X Settings, and change my screen resolution from Auto to 1920x1080 because it has lost the display configuration and the screen is blank. I presume this happens when the amplifier switches from one input to the next. It doesn't matter if I save the configuration to my X11.conf file or not - it still resets itself.

Before, this setup would run for months without any intervention (Same amplifier + HP microserver + Ubuntu + LXDE + ATI video card), so I'm pretty confident that the issue is either Debian, XFCE, or the nVidia card.

OpenSUSE Install :: Custom Build From Suse Studio|missing "initrd-2.6.34.7-0.5-default" File?

Dec 2, 2010

If you can access Suse Studio here is thlink to the buildLFS Host - SUSE GalleryGoogle hasn't been friendly and neither has a search on these forums, I don't know which man to read so a finger in the right dirrection (preferably not the middle) would be nice as far as that goesRight now the yast live installer trips up at %84 while saving the boot loader configuration and displays a popup that says ´┐ŻAn error occurred during initrd creation. /sbin/mkinitrd: illegal optionI then press enter to acknowledge the message and the installation continues without a hitch.

When I go to boot up (no other os installed) grub says it cant find the file initrd-2.6.34.7-0.5-defaultIf you boot the live cd again you can mount the boot partition and you´┐Żll find a broken symlink called initrd that islooking for the missing file above.Like I said above, if it an obvious fix, all I need is some direction, I don't mind reading. (been doing that all day)If you need more specifics Id be happy to supply, I'm just not sure whats relevant and don't want to bloat the post.

General :: Replace DVD / CD Install Images With USB Images

Sep 21, 2009

I am just spent half an hour hunting for a thing that should be totally available already:USB install images of Ubuntu, knoppix and all the others. And, the only good way are so far complicated tutorials where you extract the stuff from an CD image. Why??Hasn't everybody notices that CDs/DVDs are vanishing big time? That more and more systems don't have the readers anymore? Instead of following a 10 point instruction list, it would be nice to just be able to download a Ubuntu 8.10 or whatever USB image and be able to beam that DIRECTLY to a USB stick with a dd command.

Or am a missing something here? Does this exist? It should by no means be mariginal, considering how important USB stick in specific and flash memory in general have become.
