Debian :: Bluetooth Mouse Doesn't Work In Wheezy

Aug 3, 2011

I was in 2.6.38.-2-amd64 and it was upgraded to 2.6.39-2-amd64. After the upgrade, every reboot disables the bluetooth mouse. There is a message from the panel with a bluetooth icon
Bluetooth Device
Authorization request from Logitec mouse...
check authorization

I push the buttons on my mouse and the button on the dongle to try and get them to pair, but, the dongle does not work. It is not scanning when I push the connect button.I unplug the usb dongle, and plug it in again, and this time I am able to pair them, and the mouse works. But, I have to do this every time I reboot which is a pain. I found that in the previous kernel, The Bloothtooh package is 4.91-1, but it has been upgrade to 4.91-2. So, this is creating the problem.

Ubuntu / Apple :: Can't Connect Bluetooth Mouse And Keyboard - CD Drive Doesn't Mount Anything

Jan 14, 2010

I used a live CD burned onto a DVD-RW and it booted up and worked great. So I installed it using the entire hard drive, Ran Update manager, enabled the driver for the wifi card. Before I was using 10.5 with all recent updates done. A few things don't work. It fails whenever I try to connect my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, CD drive doesn't mount anything, I thought it would bring up the restricted nvidia driver but it doesn't so the video is slow and sketchy.

Ubuntu Networking :: Bluetooth On 10.04 Doesn't Work?

Dec 22, 2010

i have had my bluetooth keyboard and mouse working fine for a little while now, then one day.. seemingly out of the blue (no pun intended) it stopped. heres what i deduced:

Mouse works fine, always keyboard doesnt.

I'm using a logitech dinovo edge

and i can manually force the keyboard to connect by putting the keyboard into discoverable mode (press the button on the back of it) and using hidd:

Code:
hidd --connect XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
but who the heck wants to do that on every reboot or resume from sleep! yikes..
firstly, i noticed that bluetoothd was segfaulting alot:
Code:
ec 22 17:26:09 hostname kernel: [21329.811149] usb 2-6.2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 6

Debian Hardware :: Failure To Pair Bluetooth Mouse In Squeeze

May 9, 2011

I recently upgraded this machine from Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 to Debian Squeeze, x86_64, by wiping the root partition (I kept my backup and my home partitions). Everything has gone OK except this: for whatever reason I cannot pair my Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 with this machine any longer. In bluetooth-applet I can see the mouse when I go to pair it with the machine, but it simply times out and the pairing fails.

The target mouse definitely used to work in Ubuntu, so I doubt it's a problem in the physical layer. I tried another Bluetooth mouse (a Rocketfish/BestBuy POS), and it doesn't pair either. The Microsoft mouse I would like to use pairs just fine with my Debian squeeze laptop, but they're not using identical Bluetooth adapters as far as I can tell. lsusb reports that I've got a Broadcom BCM2210 in my workstation (the subject of this post), and lsusb on my laptop reports some kind of Broadcom Bluetooth adapter, but doesn't report its chipset.I'd really like to stay on squeeze if possible, but my googling for this has only led me to old documentation, or stuff that applies to wheezy or sid.

Debian Hardware :: Characters Randomly Written When Bluetooth Mouse Is Paired

Nov 16, 2014

I have an ASUS Zenbook UX31E with Debian testing and LXDE as a Desktop environment. I have a Logitech T630 Mouse that I connect through Bluetooth. When the mouse is paired I can use it properly but I get random keys typed in my desktop such as "1", "2" or "/".I am a regular user of Debian, and I have being using the system for several years now even worked as sysadmin for sometime. However I do not have much knowledge about Bluetooth devices management. I found no information on this issue on the internet and I do not know where too look for more info on my own system. Here is some info I got:

Code: Select all:~$ hciconfig -a hci0
hci0:   Type: BR/EDR  Bus: USB
BD Address: 74:2F:68:CC:5C:74  ACL MTU: 1022:8  SCO MTU: 183:5
        UP RUNNING PSCAN
        RX bytes:606 acl:0 sco:0 events:36 errors:0
        TX bytes:939 acl:0 sco:0 commands:36 errors:0

[code]....

I have tested "blueman-applet" and "bluedevil" as desktops applets and pairing through console gives same results, so it seems like a problem with the bluetooth communication.

Debian Hardware :: Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse System Hang When Pairing

Aug 1, 2015

Just picked up a Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Mouse.Whenever I try to pair it, my system hangs and I have to hard power it down. The mouse is Bluetooth 4.0, but my Bluetooth connectivity is provided by my Intel Wireless 3160 card which does support Bluetooth 4.0.I'm using Blueman as a front end, and one other thing of note is that it shows as "Unknown" after a scan.If I need to return it, I need to return it, but it seems like a good mouse and I'd like to keep it if I can make it work.

I've took this out of syslog:

Debian Hardware :: Wheezy Doesn't Properly Support Proprietary Firmware For Wireless Card

Mar 17, 2015

I recently installed the XFCE spin of Debian (amd64) on my Lenovo L440. I tried installing it before, but apparently the 3.2 kernel that ships with Wheezy doesn't properly support the proprietary firmware for the wireless card, blah blah. So I wound up using Windows 8.1 for a bit, and then Fedora (boo). Anyway, with the wheezy-backports kernel (3.16.7-ckt4-3~bpo70+1) everything works like a charm. Everything, that is, apart from the sound card — the entire system is completely mute. Well, apart from the system beeper. I searched the forum and found another thread, but that guy was (for some reason) just running dwm — I figured XFCE might feature a more complete sound system. But maybe the output he gave will be useful in my case as well:

Code: Select alleirik@gerhardsen:~$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: HDMI [HDA Intel HDMI], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]

[code]...

I also tried running alsactl init (as root), which doesn't appear to have made any difference.

Debian Installation :: Fresh RAID1 Wheezy Install - GRUB Just Does Not Work

Jul 26, 2014

I have a VIA Epia M 5000 system with 2 western digital 1TB NAS SATA drives connected through SATA<->IDE adapter. Everything installs and writes as expected except... grub. It never boots, after a message 'Grub loading' I always get 'error: no such disk'. I've tried numerous times and has been attemping to fix the issue for the past 2 days.

/dev/sda
0.999TB 0xfd linux raid autodetect partition
1GB 0xfd linux raid autodetect, logical partition

/dev/sdb exactly the same
0.999TB 0xfd linux raid autodetect partition
1GB 0xfd linux raid autodetect

/dev/md0
RAID1 of /dev/sda1 and /dev/sdb1
marked as ext4, boot point /

/dev/md1
RAID1 of /dev/sda5 and /dev/sdb5
marked as swap

update-grub2 in rescue mode generates grub.cfg with SET root=/mduuid/UUID_OF_SDA1
then after that there's search --no-floppy etc --set root=/mduuid/UUID_OF_MD0

I'm writing this from memory but simply the two uuids are different. Is this correct? I get those UUIDs to compare from blkid. All partitions are marked as bootable. grub-install /dev/sda and grub-install /dev/sdb produces no errors. grub-install /dev/md0 does not work, complains about superblocks or something similar.

Grub.cfg file contains insmod raid mdraid1x and similar lines, so that should be ok. Grub drops to rescue mode with message error: no such disk. Not device, but disk. Google finds many results for 'no such device' error, but I am not getting that error. 'ls' produces
(hd0) (hd0,msdos1) (hd1) (hd1,msdos1) ls ANY_VALID_PATH produces empty newline being printed, nothing more.

setting prefixes manually does not work, with error message 'error: file not found'. ls (hd0,msdos1)/boot/grub also produces empty line being printed. Rescue CD and auto-assemble of md0 and md1 works, the files are there, everything okay, except grub.

Ubuntu :: Mouse Caught In Firefox Even Alt-tab Doesn't Work?

Oct 31, 2010

When I start firefox the mouse seems captured by it.I can use the mouse inside the firefox screen (change tabs, use menu, select/paste) but not anywhere else. Even if a popup appears (site wants to register a cookie) then I can only use the keyboard to "ok" it. alt-tab to another window is not possible.Using the mouse in the gome-panel won't work.I can get the mouse pointer anywhere on the screen but mouse clicks don't seem to register. I've had this problem before on 10.04 and the only thing that worked then was to create a new useraccount (a lot of hassle).

edit: The window manager also won't react to the mouse so closing the firefox window is not possible using the windowmanager buttons(X - 0)It's also not limited to Firefox, after I closed firefox via it's menu and then started a gnome-terminal the mouse was caught in that. After closing the gnome-terminal and restarting firefox it degraded even further in that the mouse would'nt even work in the window itself anymore.Only a reboor would reset the problem.

Software :: Quake 2 Mouse Doesn't Work When Not In Softx?

Jun 24, 2010

Im running debian lenny amd_64, but I have another machine here that also runs the 32 bit os, also have a friend who is trying to get this to work to o on ubuntu amd_64. Long story short wed like to play some quake 2, I tried to run it under wine with no success, and why run it with emulation(or the likes) when it was ported to linux. Anyway with some painstaking effort I have got it to run if I run it with the software X11 rendering it runs but the graphics are squished, and only take up the left half of the screen but the MOUSE DOES WORK just fine.

I am able to run it now in the other rendering glx, soft, but when I run it everything works graphics look great, but the MOUSE DOES NOT WORK at all. Ive seen some things saying that gpm maybe locking it and I need to shut it down, that being said I cant find out how to shut it down for debian or ubuntu or evidence that its even running in the processes of my system, I've tried killing the gnome manager but I still have the same problem.

I've also tried the icculus port, and the installers, but both seem to FUBAR quake 2, and were a pain in the ass to even compile. I've been able to get the id version running just fine with other than this hiccup.

Ive also heard I may need to chmod the mouse device file if so where is it?

How do I stop GPM on a debian/ubuntu system? If you know this is not the problem, what do I need to do to get the mouse to work?
Wheres the mouse device file so I can Chmod it? If all else fails how do I get the gfx to not screw up when using softx?
