CentOS 5 Server :: Way To Allow Certain Email Address / Local Network To Send Out Without Authentication?
Mar 4, 2010
i have a small issue, to make our network more secure, i now require outgoing email to require authentication. Now the problem..i have a automated mailer that does not have the option to authenticate. is there a way to allow a certain email address or the local network to send out without authentication? If i cannot do this for a single email user to allow them through with authentication, how would i remove the authentication paramaters in the postfix smtp..
I've come across a strange issue where any email address that I email with mail returns an error "Bad Address"
Fairly new Centos 5.4 Install, sendmail is the MTA. Linux 2.6.18-164.el5 #1 SMP Thu Sep 3 03:28:30 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux DNS is working fine so there isn't a problem. [root@hn1 /]# host -t mx iol.co.za iol.co.za mail is handled by 10 mg1.iol.co.za. iol.co.za mail is handled by 10 mg2.iol.co.za. iol.co.za mail is handled by 30 vulpix.iol.co.za.
Yet when I try to use mail it fails: [root@hn1 /]# which mail /bin/mail [root@hn1 /]# ls -lrth /bin/mail -rwxr-xr-x 1 root mail 83K Jan 7 2007 /bin/mail [root@hn1 /]# mail -s "test" email@example.com Bad address Nothing in the maillog.
I'm trying to configure postfix so smart daemon can send out notifications emails. My system will need to send emails to a mail server that is on the same local network. I have not had much luck in getting this to work, and am confused on what I need to setup to do this and how to set it up. Does my system need to be apart of the same domain as the mail server? If so, how do I do this? Is there any restrictions sending emails from the command line as the root user? Do I need to configure a relayhost?
Basically all I need to do is send emails to a local mail server, i.e. a mail server on the same local network. I do not need to receive emails. I am rather clueless as to how to set this all up, and what I need for this basic email functionality. I have read and tried many postfix configuration tutorials, but when I try to send out a test email to a email address on the local network mail server I always get "Connection refused" to the server and deferred or bounced status on my test email.
How can I send email outside my LAN using postfix? Actually, I can received email from outside like yahoo. hotmail etc.. But when I am trying to send outside in my mail server here is the error I got..
Jun 2 21:19:51 microtontech postfix/smtp: connect to k.mx.mail.yahoo.com[184.108.40.206]: Connection timed out (port 25) Jun 2 21:20:10 microtontech postfix/smtp: connect to
I try to telnet yahoo.com and smtp.pldtdsl.net 25 here are the result, but when I try to telnet smtp.pldtdsl.net its showing trying only.. I checked if my ISP is blocking port 25 isn't. (I forgot what is the website I used to check if my ISP port 25 is block) I try already to used in my relayhost the [URL] but the email I sent still bouncing..But I remember last time when I was installed Hmailserver in my Win2K3 machine I sent email outside but I cannot received..
I'm not trying to setup a email server. ;) Firewall is set to disabled. SELinux is set to disabled.. How can i configure (which file?) the server to be able to send email out? When I try "mail -s testmail myemail@[URL]" and enter some text and then CTRL+D.. and return, I get command prompt again..
I'm trying to figure out how to access the local part and the domain part of an email address in postfix's main.cf. For example, firstname.lastname@example.org has myname as the local part and mydomain.net as the domain part.I get the whole email address with %s. I want to speed up the lookups by writing better database queries.I've had no luck finding this in the otherwise well documented postfix.
One of our client having issue with the qmail. The issue is if any one send email to email@example.com (firstname.lastname@example.org the email address which is not exist) it should send failure notification i.e."email does not exist" to the sender. The qmail server is not notifying that email address does not exist.
Debian 5, apache 2.2 I've got Apache up and hosting multiple sites. Each site will have a php contact me page that will simply dump an email to a fixed address. What program should i be using to accomplish this? I've used nullmailer before but that assumes you have a fixed smarthost somewhere which I don't.
Is there a way of allowing only certain domain to send e-mails to certain specific e-mail address. I am using Sendmail, and I have an alias which translate to certain members of staff within my organization. I don't expect e-mails from outside our domain to be sent to this alias e-mail address.
i have successfully done the setup of postfix and dovecot on this link [URL]I run Cent OS on top of window 7 via VM Player,i want to access mailbox from windows 7 using email client like Thunderbird and Outlook. What setting i need to do in my mail server ?
I'm using CentOS 5.5 as a media server to stream media content over my local network. Currently i'm having problem while installing last.fm scrobbler.
Here is a sample output: yum localinstall xmms-scrobbler-0.4.0-7.fc11.i586.rpm Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, priorities Setting up Local Package Process Examining xmms-scrobbler-0.4.0-7.fc11.i586.rpm: xmms-scrobbler-0.4.0-7.fc11.i586 Marking xmms-scrobbler-0.4.0-7.fc11.i586.rpm to be installed Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile .....
The program package-cleanup is found in the yum-utils package. Upon searching my hard disk this is what i get: find / -mount -name libcurl* /usr/share/man/man3/libcurl-easy.3.gz /usr/share/man/man3/libcurl-tutorial.3.gz /usr/share/man/man3/libcurl-share.3.gz /usr/share/man/man3/libcurl-errors.3.gz /usr/share/man/man3/libcurl-multi.3.gz /usr/share/man/man3/libcurl.3.gz /usr/lib/libcurl.so.3 /usr/lib/libcurl.a /usr/lib/libcurl.so.3.0.0 /usr/lib/pkgconfig/libcurl.pc /usr/lib/libcurl.so
So it tells me that I need libcurl.so.4, but I couldn't find any suitable rpm binaries for it. The only rpm that i found was for Suse and Mandrake. How to set this up, so that i can get a fully functional media server.
I'm setting up my server under CentOS 5.5 (text mode) and I installed cherokee server but I couldn't reach it with the ip given by ifconfig. So I figured it might be an problem within cherokee. I also wanted to install webmin so I did that to see if I could reach that one. But also the webmin server is not reachable (I know the port number should be behind the ip ). So if I look up ifconfig I see the server has got an local ip (192.168.1.42) but I can't reach it from another computer in the same local network.
can't send or recieve E-mail. Running postfix , thunderbird squirrel mail. I seen a post mentioning port 25 : 587 for squirrellmail but I do not have exim.conf to update daemon_smtp_ports= 25 : 587 is this located in another file for suse 11.2?

I installed the Centos 5.5 and after the Xen. After I put a virtual machine named VM01.Initially it worked properly, I tried everything and it worked. When rebooted, I had problems with the network.I have two network cards eth0 and eth1, but eth1 does not have any ip and I use only eth0.The error that appears is:
vif0.0: received packet with own address the source address
I have been trying to wirelessly connect to my network for weeks now. My netgear dongle is fully working. I have installed the driver using ndiswrapper. I can see my network and signal is excellent; everything is working perfectly. When I try to connect it thinks about it but never connects. The password is fine; it works great with other computers. decided to have a go with wicd, so got rid of the Gnome network manager and installed wicd. Adaptor and wicd appear to be working brilliantly EXCEPT I cannot connect. wicd tells me its a bad password. Password fine because it works brilliantly with every other device I connect to my network. If I remove security from network, it tells me it cannot get address, even though it sailed passed that with no problem when there was security. I have searched the internet for a solution to this problem time and time again. Lots of people seem to be having this problem, but no one knows the solution. Is there a solution? It happens with both Ubuntu 10.04 LTS v1 v2 and Ubuntu 11.04. What the heck is going on. This happens with WPA WEP and anything else I try to use
this seems silly but I am changing ISPs and need to change my notification email address (for here). Under User Menu -> Edit account it shows my email but does not allow me to change my email. Since I am able to post I assume I am logged in correctly. So what did I miss?
I have users [URL] unable to send email to [URL]. [URL] user also unable to send email to [URL]. But both email addresses are fine as they can receive email from others or from [URL] and [URL]. I able to telnet mail server 110 and 25, no problem. Version: ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.10

I've got Samba up and running with the correct workgroup information, and I can access files on my network share, but I can't figure out a way to point Thunderbird to a network folder to import my old local folders. Is there any way to do this? Do I need to some how map the location so Thunderbird thinks it is physically on the local machine? If so, how would one do that?
