CentOS 5 Server :: Apache Works But Website Has "page Load Error"?

May 16, 2009

I am using following software on my web server:

RedHat 2.6.18-92.1.10.el5
Coldfusion 8

My webserver accesses a backend mySQL server using CentOS5

The last week, I have been getting a "page Load Error" on my web server whilst others told me they are getting a "broken link" error when they try to access my web site. It has been working fine for the last 12 months until last week.

ADSL, modem and router okay according to service provider (verizon)

I can ping my IP address and my domain name.

# netstat -tap

shows http and https both processes running.

# service httpd restart
no issues

I shut down firewall and tried again, but got the same "page load error".

CentOS 5 :: SMTP Test Fails During Qmailrocks Install CentOS 5.5?

Oct 2, 2010

I am trying to run though the qmailrocks setup on a centos 5.5 and I am running into an issue when trying to telnet to port 25:

telnet localhost 25
Connected to localhost.localdomain (
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

Everything else seems to be working (telnet to 110), and I turned off the firewall entirely, but I still cannot telnet to port 25. I also get a blank error within squirrelmail when attempting to send mail out (ERROR:Message not sent. Server replied: ). I apologize for not going directly to the qmailrocks forum, but they are currently closed down (due to lack of funds). I also am a newbie, so I apologize for the lack of needed information. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know what information you would need.

CentOS 5 :: Apache Not Working With New Centos 5 Installation?

Jul 5, 2009

U have spent 4 days trying to configure my router thinking that it is my router that is not working but when I go to my dynamic dns or my static ip address it takes me to my admin router on the local computers.when I type httpd it says it cannot bind to port i checked it is set up to listen to port 80 this is really confusing me i am beginning to think the people who built my server did not set it up properly if i go to localhost or it goes to the apache default page fine.I have not changed anything since it wad installed except the centos 5 updates any ideas? When i login my password is root and the password is the default I have changed nothing else on the system as I still have no clue about it.Just to clarify on my router I have port 80 and port 443 set to my static ip address is this correct or should it be the eth0 Bcast ip address? Can anyone give me an idea of what i need to check? On my router I have set up port 80 and port 443 and dynamic dns and static ip address.Sorry I am totally new to linux never used it before would be nice if anyone has any ideas how i can proceed with this.

CentOS 5 Hardware :: Disks Switched Place In 2 Different RAID5 Arrays?

Feb 21, 2011

We have CentOS on an HP proliant g5 server and attached to it is an DAS with 3 branches of disks so 5 - 5 - 5 drives. Now what we had so far there is that every branch was on raid 5 and totaling 3 mounted drives each with 4TB (disks are 1Tb each). But a couple days ago something happened while i was replacing older drives with some bad sectors with new one. What I did is to remove old drive, put in new one, initialize and attach to array and rebuild starts. Now somehow 2 drievs ( as i was rebuilding 2 arrays at once) switched place.so disk on 1_1_5 and disk on 1_3_5 switched place. There coul dbe possibility that I made mistake and assigned them to different arrays when initializing but that is really hardly as i replaced one then later another so...

Anyway to the to the point. Is there painless option to remove 1 disk from array and then assign it to other array and then let raid rebuild everything normally?I;ve made backup of everything there so there is no fear of loosing anything...By the way at the same time when that switch happens a partition from 1 raid array completely dis speared and there is only unallocated space on that one right now.

Debian Configuration :: Bad Superblock On Ext4 Filesystem - Everytime - Computer Powered Off - Clock Resets To 1999

Jan 15, 2010

I added an ext4dev filesystem to my hard drive as /dev/sda3 and mounted at /share with the goal of putting all of my multimedia files on it and sharing it through NFS. I followed this guide: [url]

Of course, this was from lenny (hence the -dev). The partition was fine, and I mounted it numerous times. I also performed a dist-upgrade to squeeze. I shutdown that computer with the usual 'shutdown -h now' and disconnected the AC power cord from it, because I wasn't planning on using that machine for awhile. As far as I could determine, everything was fine before I unplugged it.

Every time that computer is powered off, the clock resets to 1999 because the battery is bad. So I am used to getting the "last mount time is in the future" error.

Three weeks after halting, I powered the computer back on. It was unplugged until this point. I got an error message when it attempted to mount /dev/sda3

I then removed its line from /etc/fstab, rebooted. and tried to check it, but I just keep getting the same error-- even with the '-b 8193' option.

The machine is still using the 2.6.26 kernel from lenny. I am building a new one right now (2.6.30), hoping that the problem is caused by the ext4dev/ext4 module. Otherwise I don't know what to do.

Software :: CD-R Test Suite For CentOS 4/5?

Jan 28, 2010

We've been having lots of problems with burning CD-Rs on our Dell PowerEdge and T300 servers. We've had the CD recorders replaced frequently, and that often fixes the problem, but then we'll start having problems again. Usually it is the CD refuses to write, or it gets written but can't be read. Often, if I re-run the burn with the same blank CD, it will be fine.

I'd like to test some CD-Rs and compare error rates so I can recommend what CD-R media we should be using. Currently we are using Memorex and Verbatim CD-Rs. Is there a good cd recording/testing suite for Linux that I could use to do this?

Hardware :: Test Memory During Centos/RHEL Installation?

Apr 8, 2011

I have been battling an issue for a couple of days and I have it down to 2 possibilities. Memory or mobo. A server in the DC is being very sketchy. Sometimes it will boot fine, sometimes it will boot but will not show all the memory, and sometimes it will hang before it even posts. I have replaced just about everything inside the system except for the memory and the mobo.

I would like to test the memory before replacing either because both are a few hundred dollars. The problem is, the memory doesn't log any errors and running a memory test with ubcd doesn't work because it's ecc memory. I thought I remembered hearing that there is a way to run a memory test during a Centos or RHEL installation, but I can't figure out how.

The memory is

CentOS 5 :: Browser Gives Error As For Non Existing Page

Sep 24, 2009

I've installed CentOS 5.3+ xampp 1.7.2 (apache, proftpd and php5) +postgresql 8.4. And some strange errors appear from time to time, but can't reproduce it by wish. For example client opens a webpage on CentOS, the page can be open many times, but in some moment browser gives error as for non-existing page and when I check lampp's logs, there is only a record in error_log "[notice] child pid NNNN exit signal Segmentation fault (11)".

Or another example: client opens ssh-connection and ftp-connection. When ftp-connection got timed out and server closes it, ssh-connection unexpectedly gets closed the same moment without any errors in logs. And again it happens not everytime, but cannot be related to physical network because the same server on the same network with Fedora never had such errors. Possibly xampp-1.7.2 is not too compatible with CentOS 5.3? How to get more info from system in this case?

1) Set the Directory options to FollowSymLinks
2) Verified all directory and file permissions are at 755
3) Set permissions temporarily to 777 and received same error so I am assuming the issue is in a config file somewhere
4) in hhtpd.conf verified <Files ~ "^.ht"> is correct
5) verified the "default" directory is correct (/var/www/html)

I have read and tried several ideas in posts listed on the web but to no avail and am at a loss as to what to look for next..
