I just have used ubuntu for few day and i have a problem. 2 day ago, the firefox icon when i minimize was at the cairo dock but now it is at the notification area i not sure what i did?
View 2 RepliesI made the upgrade to 10.10 the other day, and it's pretty functional. The few problem that keep erking me are as follows: 1. Often when I boot up the gnome-panel is buggy, I run Code:
gnome-panel --replace to fix this, which it does. I'd just like it to look normal at boot up.
2. The GDM (or compiz) doesn't boot up correct all of the time. Every now and then I'll open a program after booting and will have no minimize/restore/exit buttons. I fix this buy just turning compiz on using the compiz-switch icon which I put up in my panel. 3. Why doesn't rhythmbox minimize to the notification area. I like the mini player in sound menu, but I hate that if you want it out of your system tray it has to be closed.
I am having a problem with the Cairo-Dock wifi applet. I can activate the applet and configure it, but I can't get it to display an icon. [URL]. I've tried everything on the above page (I think), no go. How to proceed with this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince I updated twice to the two newest versions (currently, Cairo Dock 2.1.3 beta) it every hour or so it randomly restarts which causes 50% tray icons to go bye bye (especially those of Wine programs). If I want to get them back, I have to restart the computer or at least the program with missing tray icon.Anyone knows why CD restarts or how to get back my missing icons after it does?

With this code cairo-dock 2.2.0-4 use libpng to load png icon and after build the texture with mipmap. FEATURES ADDED: I've added others modification that allow you to move the height of the icons on the panel and allow the dock to go out of the screen when grow up. You find them in control panel -> behaviour -> position.

On my small screen, the extra horizontal spacing/padding between the icons in the notification area takes up far, far too much space.Is there a way to reduce the spacing/padding. Preferably, I would put it back to what it was in Karmic which I think was about half the current spacing/padding.

I was able to rearrange all of them by right-click > Unlock from panel > Move except for the wireless icon which doesn't have a "Lock to panel" option when I right click it. Last night I upgraded to the 10.04 development release, and I am pleased with what I see so far. I ran into a problem, however, with the power manager.I am using an MSI Wind U100.
First, I have lost my battery icon from the notification area. It reappears if I plug in, or unplug my AC adapter.
Second, under, "Power Management Preferences" I have lost my "On Battery Power" tab, leaving only, "On AC Power" and "General"
If I wait about seven minutes, the battery icon will appear in the notification area, but the tab remains lost.The problem is due to update. I have confirmed by installing a fresh 9.10 and upgrading again to 10.04 without making any other changes to system.
While my wifi still is working just fine (I'm here aren't I), the Network Manager has disappeared from the Notification Area on my panel upon reboot.Have all current patches, so have no clue what to do. Most likely is a bug.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHi. I have Ubuntu 10.04, nm-applet is running in the background, my battery icon and sound icon are showing but my network icon has been missing for the past 2 days. It was working fine before but now it's not. How can I fix this issue if I don't have an ethernet cord? Is there a way to roll back the recent updates or do I need to reinstall my network manager?
I've tried restarting the system and I've tried killing nm-applet and reloading it using Alt F2. I get some Debug error.
When I try to run nm-applet --sm-disable
It says an instance is already running and then gives me a warning.
I tried removing "iface eth0 inet dhcp" from /etc/network/interfaces and then tried restarting by "sudo /etc/initi.d/networking restart"

The Linux version doesn't, but running the MS version via WINE it does this.I'm using Fedora 10 with Gnome desktop, the software is an enhanced chat client that is linked to the phone system called MXIE.It isn't really make r break, but I'd really like to be able to resolve it. Is there anything I could be doing to fix this? Or is it something that is in the rpm that I've installed? As an aside,n't know it it's important, but the Linux version had no icon, and I have to manually add this to my main menu icon list.

I have removed it from synaptic and also removed it by doing this sudo apt-get remove cairo-dock cairo-dock-plug-ins in the terminal
But each time i restart, it loads up every time.
I am running Ubuntu 10.04 with Cairo-Dock and having a problem with the GMenu add on. I have GMenu set to show the application Icons, but that feature does not work. GMenu is coming up with a list of my applications without the Icons. Any suggestion on how to fix that?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn cairo-dock when I hover over the 'shortcuts' applet it shows me what's in my 'places' menu, but I have to click twice on any object to open it, and then it opens two instances of whatever I opened. As in I click once, could wait up to an hour probably, then click again and finally it opens up but twice.

I have tried launching it with cairo-dock --keep-above and cairo-dock -a but to I have had no success. Even editing the settings from the configure to be "always on top" does not work.It was working before where it would appear above when I put the cursor at the bottom of the screen, but it isn't anymore, for whatever reason.

There is only a box on the left end of where it used to appear at the bottom of my desktop.There is no icons and no ability to do anything with it. It was perfectly fine yesterday, which is what I do not understand.
I installed some gstreamer updates, but that was after it was messed up and the updates didn't change anything.I am using the latest version of nVidia driver 260.19.29At first I tried purging compiz, cairo-dock and all the plugins, extras, etc, CCSM as well as Simple CCSM. Then I reinstalled everything fresh and nothing changed.I even tried removing the kernel 2.6.35-24-generic and reinstalling it and still no bueno!
When I try to even open Simple CCSM via System > Preferences, the cursor indicates activity for a while and then nothing.Right clicking on the desktop and attempting to change visual effects to any thing but None yields some weird stuff and then a message "Desktop effects could not be enabled".
Like I said it was fine yesterday and has been fine since installation until today. It cannot be the video driver or any of the obvious solutions as I have had this driver for quite a while and everything was perfect until now.And please don't say try Docky or AWN. Been there and done that and I prefer Cairo-dock open GL.
