I was wondering how you change the open, close and minimize effects using ccsm in ubuntu 11.04. I have been try to use the check boxes but it has no effect.

I installed opera 10.6 today. first thing I did was remove the title bar(using the window decorations item in compiz) and now im wondering if there is a way to add buttons to opera that maximize, minimize, and close a window?

I got my lost icon. But again when I tried to use the visual effect Extra the minimize, maximize and close icon got lost . If I don't use Extra visual effect the icons are restored. Now how can I use the Extra Visual effect and compiz without the removable of minimize, maximize and close icon

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just gotten back into Ubuntu and installed 11.04. However I happen to see alot of issues with this. Trying to run compiz and all bejesus is breaking loose on me here. The biggest frustrating one is this new desktop, after searching I found how to go back to old school way I use to use it.So, now I get into this desktop, start compiz after the other desktop totally barfed on me, this one is doing the same as well.I lost all of my little boxs at top to close minimize and expand the windows.
Seriously, they took something and turned it into this just so ppl quit complaining about moving from windows to this. I for one dont like it and it doesnt work right with nothing,(Sounds like windows ughh) very hard to navigate, where you think one thing is suppose to be and they totally moved it, took me half of yesterday to get my wifi working but only after I went back to old desktop, video wasnt working properly, only after I went back to old desktop.
i don't know what i did but the minimize exit and expand buttons that are usually on the top left or right of windows just dissapeared, it's getting really irritating =/ Anyway to restore them?

I tryed to write ?sudo aptitude purge ubuntu-desktop && sudo aptitude clean && sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop && sudo /etc/init.d/gdm? in terminal, and then restarted my laptop. There is still no effect I wrote ?metacity? in terminal and I got this message ?Window manager warning: Screen 0 on display ":0.0" already has a window manager; try using the --replace option to replace the current window manager. So how should I fix this problem.

Having decided that I didnt like it, I chose to revert, by uninstalling those packagesMy problem now is that on every application I execute, the icons that are usually found on top right of the screen (minimize, maximize and close) cannot be seen and, if I want to shut an application down I must do it via control q or control w depending of the application. I looked around on the forums and i didn't see any other posts about this problem. I'm sorry if i might have over looked one though. Anyways, the buttons are not on the left or the right, they just don't show up. I tried messing with the theme settings and I also tried some of the things that were recommended on the main sticky about bugs with Lucid, and i still don't have them. Then, when I came back, all my windows open now in the top left of the screen, and the close, minimize and maximize icons are gone. I cannot even see the top bar of a window to move it.

I dont want the buttons at the right side, as in windows, I liked them at the left, but when I choose GTK in compiz fusion, they go to the right side as in windows, they only work at the left side using emerald, but no with GTK, someone can help me to keep the buttons at the left?, I dont know why they have changed to right side.

Most of these threads relate to missing buttons or moving them to the right side. However, I'd like to know whether it is possible to get the buttons to show normally on the title bar instead of the panel? I think having the buttons on the panel is butt ugly and fairly inconvenient.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using compiz in Kubuntu and I have run across an interesting problem. Occasionally when I reboot and login kubuntu will load but there is no window manager (ie no minimize, maximize, or close) and compiz doesn't actually load (no effects work). Like I said this only happens occasionally. I can fix the problem by using the following command:compiz --replaceOnce I type this command compiz loads and the window manager finishes loading as well. Other times when I reboot Kubuntu will load just find as well as compiz automatically with no problems. The problem is really intermittent. Any ideas on how to fix the problem?I installed the program through the adept-manager and I enabled it through the kubuntu menu->system->desktop effectsI didn't modify any file to make it load automatically it just did it by itself. I also do not have any nvidia card installed and once compiz is loaded it runs flawlessly.
