A few months ago I decided to install ubuntu as a separate partition on my laptop which already had Windows 7. I am finally ready to remove it because I need the extra hard drive space. So: I have downloaded G-Parted and boot from the disk. When i select all the default settings, I am getting a "fatal server error no screens". Anyone have any ideas what to do? Ideally I want to remove the unbuntu partition and give Windows 7 all the HD space.

I have a computer which I upgraded to Windows 7. But when I upgraded it, I forgot about the Ubuntu Install Inside Windows partition I had, and when my disc was formatted, it deleted Ubuntu but not the partition. The partition isn't recognized by Windows AT ALL, but when I start it up the boot menu still gives me an option to boot into Ubuntu.

I recently installed Ubuntu 10.10 (to make me do more work by taking away the distractions of Windows games etc) but for some reason it decided to install on a really small partition even though I left everything as default and so after about 1 day of using it and installing some programs it keeps warning me "There is only 11mb free space!" etc. and everything runs really slow because of this.
So I am wanting to uninstall ubuntu and grub so I can reinstall them but I don't know how to uninstall. In win7 if I go into Computer>Manage>Storage>Disk Management, there is no Ubuntu partition, just the 1TB partition that win7 is on, so I can't go about the "deleting the partition" method that people have given as a solution on this and other forums.

About 3-4 years ago I installed a new harddrive in my computer (XP Pro) and moved the old system disk drive to be secondary. I installed Grub and partitioned it in half. I installed Fedora on one partition and installed XP on the other. Now I want to keep the XP and replace the Fedora with another Linux like Ubuntu or Mint to try them out. I am not sure what I need to do to replace the Fedora and keep XP. Could someone give some idea how this would be done? I don't remember exactly how I did it at the time or what tools I had used or what I will need.

I'm multi-booting with Windows 7 x64 and (at least) Linux Mint. Because I hadn't yet made a backup of my MBR, when I installed Linux Mint on a logical partition, I told the installer to put GRUB on the partition instead of in the MBR. This turned out to be useless, as I need to use GRUB from a boot disk to get into the GRUB I installed. Before installing it in the MBR, I'd like to get it out of the partition, preferably without wiping and reinstalling Linux. I don't relish the prospect of going through two layers of GRUB when I want to boot Linux. How do I get it out, or what other options are available to me?

So I recently installed openSUSE KDE (latest build, don't know the number?). total linux noob, been a windows user all my life. right now i'm dual-booting between win 7 and opensuse KDE. i originally alotted for a parsley 10gb only to use as a backup whenever my windows inevitably starts having problems and i have no access or means to repair it/ use as a secure place to scan my windows partition and external drives for viruses. i want to expand my opensuse partition.
so my problem is this: i have a 200gb windows partition, a 15 gb partition (U) i set up to do file swapping cross-os (which i couldnt figure out how to work, btw. formatted it in FAT32). and my 10 gb suse partition (O). i tried using the built-in KDE partition manager to shrink or completely do away with U, and expand the suse partition. the problem is my suse partition is ecapsulated by an extended partition, whatever that is, and suse has its own 1.5 gb "swap" partition. after shrinking U i tried expanding O, but it said i was already at max size. tried expanding extended, also didnt work, same goes for the 1.5 gb suse swap partition.
i read in another post that i could do the resizing via some sort of bootable disc, the only problem is that i have no access to cd or dvd blanks, and i have no usb thumb drives just 2 external hd's - 1tb and 250gb. so how can i go about expanding my opensuse partition? the easiest way i could think of is to just reformat/repartition from windows, and reinstall opensuse from my boot dvd. only problem with that is i cant SEE my suse partition from windows...
i imagine i could also just boot from the dvd and run the installer again, and use the partitioner built into the installer, but i didn't really feel comfortable with it the first time around. im know my way around a computer but all of a sudden it blindsided me with a ton of options i know nothing about, it was a little too complicated.

I cannot uninstall Firefox, nor can I uninstall Chromium; one always stays if the other is uninstalled. For example, if I remove Firefox, Chromium will appear in its place and vice versa. This has got to be one of the weirdest bugs I've ever seen on Ubuntu! So, how can I uninstall both web browsers?

the upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 has proved to be an unmitigated disaster for my netbook. I have no menus! Nothing at the top (i.e. the usual Gnome desktop with "Browse and run installed applications," "Applications," "Places," "System") and no Unity buttons available wherever I put the cursor.Plus, when the system goes to sleep and I press the power button to revive it, it reboots! I don't understand how v. 11.04 is an improvement over v. 10.10.
how I can uninstall v 11.04 -- bearing in mind I have no menus -- so I can reinstall v. 10.10?

I am having a bit of a problem with Wine as I cannot remove any of the programs that I have installed in it, namely Steam. Even if I try to uninstall wine via "sudo apt-get remove wine" I can still navigate to Steam through Applications - Wine - Programs - Steam. I don't know what to do. I've even tried the "Uninstall Wine Software" option to get rid of Steam but that has also failed.

I installed the latest updates last night (It came up automatically on the screen and I clicked the Update). Now I am having problems mainly my wireless network keeps connecting/disconnecting then sometimes asks for the password/key for the router etc.The system also got hung today and had to hard boot.
I am pretty sure one or some of the updates is responsible for this rather annoying problem, but I do not know how to undo the latest updates? The original install could not even pick up the wireless bcs it is a RealTek RTL8191SE NIC and this particular NIC had problems with Linux drivers! It started to work by itself after the 2nd or 3rd update.

Ok, so I tried to run the .deb package to install the Facebook chat plugin for Pidgin, and something got all messed up with that, and now nothing will install or uninstall. Synaptics won't run, Update Manager tells me to try a termianl command that doesn't work, and the Software center doesn't work either. I've attached screenshots of the problems. I've tried to download and reinstall the .deb file, and it still doesn't work.
I wanted to upload one more picture, but it only allows five. The last picture was of the terminal window. Here's what it said.
"Sudo apt-get install f
reading package lists... done
building dependency tree
reading state information... done
E: The package pidgin-facebookchat needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it"

The package system is broken If you are using third party repositories then disable them, since they are a common source of problems. Now run the following command in a terminal: apt-get install -f
