Ubuntu Servers :: View Cannot Be Shown Because It Uses An Invalid Or Unsupported Form Of Compression"

I'm successfully hosting an https site on my single available public facing IP address - but I want to expose a couple of internal web sites. Essentially, I have:[URL]..I get most of the way there by using mod_proxy and the directive:
I run a small home/hobby server. I attempted to upgrade it this morning. It was previously using 8.04 lts. I followed the instructions found here, [URL].. Upgrade for Ubuntu Servers (Recommended) I followed the on-screen instructions. After the installation was complete, I rebooted the server. On start up, I was greeted by this message "error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format." I have since tried booting into every 10.04 kernel listed. However, the results are the same. I have attempted to find a solution via web search, but have had difficulty finding a solution that is appropriate for my situation.
I've searched all over the internet and have found numerous threads on this topic, none of which have helped me fix the problem. I'll post as much info I can about my setup.I have 3 hard drives... one is for ubuntu (9.10), one is for my data, and one is for Windows7. It looks like this:
1st drive (hda) = ubuntu 2nd drive (hdb) = data 3rd drive (hdc) = windows
I've been googling all afternoon to fix this error I get. The situation is as follows: I have multiple harddrives (3x320gb and 1x160gb) all on the SATA interface. One of these drives contains Windows, and the rest I use for programs and downloads. I've installed Ubuntu 9.04 from a USB-stick using the installer's partitioner to make some room for Ubuntu (Ext4 filesystem). I've tried Ubuntu and SUSE in the past.
2.6.38-10-generic-pae ===> Error 16: Incosistent filesystem structure 2.6.38-10-generic-pae (recovery mode) ===> Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format 2.6.38-10-generic ===> Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format

b08e48b7-1194-49c1-a743-91e7ee90334e is a link to /dev/dm-2 which is my root partition on nvidia raid
PS: At first it did not boot at all dropping out to grub shell, but I managed to boot it with gparted live usb stick and chroot to Ubuntu and re-install grub, but now 2.6.38-8 kernel works and 2.6.38-10 is not
A few days ago I booted up my computer as normal and loaded vista. It loaded fine, but then froze at the login window. I restarted my computer but this time when I tried to load vista I got the "Error 13" message. Ubuntu still loads up fine however.
I'm fairly certain that I'm using Grub - Legacy, and since most posts that I see post the contents of the menu.lst file, I will too
Code: # menu.lst - See: grub(8), info grub, update-grub(8) # grub-install(8), grub-floppy(8), # grub-md5-crypt, /usr/share/doc/grub # and /usr/share/doc/grub-doc/.

Reluctantly I made a temporary install of XP as follows Remove linux drive and install a wiped drive.format ntfs & install windows xp (w/sp3)shift ntfs drive to slave, replace linux drive as master and xp drive as slave. Add it to grub as follows:
Code: # boot=/dev/sda1 default=1 timeout=5 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz titlem$ Windows XP code....
I was installing opensuse on the c partition and it gave errors so i aborted it now i click on windows and it says invalid or unsupported executable format chainloader +1 so then i proceeded to try and fix this by changing the menu.lst to this:
And now it tells me that disk isnt found so i need to know what to put in the menu.lst to load the actual windows partition and then fix the original error.
On my Laptop is an 80 GB HD. I installed Windows XP first (at this point it worked perfectly) then installed on the same HD, but on other partitions Archlinux.
The whole thing looks like this now:
/dev/sda1 <--- Windows xp /dev/sda2 <--- arch linux (/, etc, etc^^) /dev/sda3 <--- homes /dev/sda4 <--- boot partition (grub)
(I got no SWAP partition, I got 4gb RAM (well can only use 3, since my system doesn't support 64bit), and my friend told me there's no absolute need for a a swap :>)
Arch Linux is booting perfectly (and very fast), but Windows XP doesn't want to boot anymore :> (Just if it's from any importance: In the partition program I took the "bootable" flag away from my XP Partition and set it to sda4 - I thought I need to do that, but now I'm not so sure anymore :P )
My entry in the file /boot/grub/menu.lst looks like this (I also tried various others)
title Windows root (hd0,1) makeactive chainloader +1
When I boot and choose the Windows XP in the GRUB boot menu, the following message appears:
error 13: invalid or unsupported executable format
When I set root(hd0,1) to root(hd0,0) (what seemed the most logical to me) and boot again selecting the windows xp, then the GRUB cosole appears.
So what did I do wrong - or better said: what should I do now?
I've been playing around with trying to assemble a bare-bones Linux system on a disk.img file through a loop device. I compiled the most recent stable kernel and then copied it onto the root partition in the image. When I try to boot up into the image using qemu, grub gives me this:
Code: Booting 'tiny' root (hd0,0) Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83 kernel /boot/vmlinux Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
Press any key to continue... I am confused because I compiled the kernel with 'make bzImage', and the architecture hasn't changed (qemu on the same machine used to build the kernel). So it should be bzImage format. Is that what this Error 13 means, or could it means something else is wrong...?
i have just discoverd i can't enter my windows 7 via grub boot menu i get error 13 Invalid or unsupported executable format what can i do? # This entry automatically added by the Debian installer for a non-linux OS # on /dev/sdb1
I have a weird problem with one of my servers (normal PC hardware). I was connected remotely using Putty, doing some stuff, and all of the sudden some commands, like "ls" stopped working, giving a "file or command not found" type of message. I restarted the ssh session, only to find out I couldn't log on any more (access denied). When I got home and rebooted the system, I was greeted with this:Booting 'CentOS (2.6.18-194.el5xen)'root (hd0,0)Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83kernel /boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5Error 15: File not foundPress any key to continue...Then I searched about this, found out that the files in /boot/grub/menu.lst did not exist at the specified location (/boot/xen.gz-2.6. 18-194.el5). Somehow I managed to find them in another place, copied them in place, and now I get:Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format
I have 4 partitions in my system, out of which two(sda1, sda2) have windows on them. I have installed RHEL 4 32 - bit on sda3 and after that , installed installed RHEL 64-bit on to a partition sda 5. Now i am unable to boot into RHEL 32-bit. The error i am getting is Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.
when i want run "ltsp-build-client" command i get this error: ERROR: fc14 is unsupported i want know there is any plan for ltsp 5.2 support in fedora 14 and how i can solve this problem for use ltsp in fedora 14.
I have several forms created on my server. I'm running Ubuntu server 10.04.
I was running Ubuntu server 10.10 up until Tuesday Night. I decided to go to Ubuntu Server 10.04 in favor of the long term support of it.
While running Ubuntu server 10.10 all my forms worked and would send the form data to my email without issue.
Now after transfer the site to Ubuntu 10.04 I'm not getting any of the email messages. I have verified my email works by sending a test email directly to the account.
I've already tried Seamonkey to create a web page but can find no way to create a web form in which I want to create form fields. Before moving to Ubuntu I used Microsoft FrontPage to create web pages with form fields. This was easy to do. what is available to do the same in Ubuntu?
i want to start a home server in which i can log on to the same account form 2 or three different machines running ubuntu server. is it possible and if so, how?
Is there a way to build a form so an admin can enter and add values to a database: Example Code: use squid insert into passwd values('testuser','test',1,'Test User','for testing purpose'); Is there a free software or an easy to configure script?
I am running Ubuntu 10.04LTS on a server. I am trying to make an e-mail contact form. When I hit submit, it says the message was sent. I check my e-mail and I don't see it. Does it not work with gmail? or do I need to use a system username@mydomain.net? This is the PHP mailer.
Code: <?php if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { $to = "myemail@mydomain"; #This is set to my gmail.com e-mail. $subject = "Unserv Form"; $name_field = $_POST['name']; $email_field = $_POST['email']; $message = $_POST['message'];
echo "Message was sent!"; mail($to, $subject, $body); } else { echo "Error, it did not work! Please mention this to admin@unserv.net!"; } ?>
This is a snip of HTML from the contact site: Code: <form method="POST" action="sndmsg.php"> Name: <input type="text" name="name" size="19"><br> <br> E-Mail: <input type="text" name="email" size="19"><br> <br> Message:<br><textarea rows="20" name="message" cols="50">
I have a server 192.168.1.14 (I will call it 14) it runs Ubuntu server 10.04 and I have my Ubuntu Laptop 192.168.1.3 ( I will call it 3) that runs Ubuntu 10.10. I need to find a way to add users from my Laptop (user X) or a Windows machine user (Y). What I am trying to accomplish is to have file permissions some for Y only and some for X only and some for a group that contains X and Y. Now I have a Dir, on the server 14, with the owner Z (server user) and I gave it permission 760. Now my user X, from Laptop 3, (they have the same name in real life) is not able to access those files on a NFS share.
I would like to have the 760 perm and be able to access those files without doing a 777. I am thinking to add all users (XYZ)to a group and give read permissions for the group. My dilemma comes when the users are on different machines. I already created equal users on server with the same name but it does not do the trick. When connecting to server from 3 I can't access files that are owner by the group where user Z belongs (even if user X has the same name and password). I am thinking there has to be a deeper way of identifying users.
I have Ubuntu server 11.04 (LAMP, SAMBA) installed with the ubuntu-desktop interface (I am not yet experienced enough to run without it).My problem is I am trying to share the www directory through samba so I can edit the site, but no matter what I do I get errors when I try and access the directory form the other machine.I did add it to the smb.conf file, and it does show up fine on teh network, however, when I try and open or change the contents of the directory it says I am unauthorized.I tried:
Code: sudo chown <sambausername> /var/www even tried
home web server (running on port 21333). i'm running fedora 10 w/ LAMP and I can't get my php contact form on my website to send out mail. it looks like it sends but it doesn't (and I know the form works because it's the same one from my hosted web server). I've tried everything I can think of, disabled selinux, added apache to trusted mail users, changed the port to 2025 in case comcast blocks 25 (at least i think i did), added the port to the iptables and i have no idea where to go from here.
I just reinstalled Ubuntu Lucid Lynx and an old problem has come back. For some reason I couldn't fix it even in my previous installation. The problem is the top gnome panel. See the photo below: As you can see, the network icon is not shown properly while the Me menu is being shown twice. I can't even restart or log out or shut down at this situation without pressing the keystroke to turn the power off.
We are using several printers on our Linux RH network to print customer invoices and receipts. Receipts are short forms of just 21 or 22 lines. Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings.
Today when I logged into my fileserver it told me there were 20 updates available. I went ahead and installed them, one was a new kernel. After reboot, I cannot see that machine when I browse the network. It still has the same static IP and I can still map to the shared drives, so Samba is working. When I browse the network from Windows or my WDTV Live media play it no longer shows the server by name. The smb.conf file is still intact and I restarted Samba. Not really sure where to start troubleshooting why I can't browse to it.
I use .htaccess to deny all ip addresses except certain to an internal wiki on a subdomain.
Code:
If access is denied to the homepage users are shown the Fedora test page instead of my own custom 403 error page. When I go to a page - not home - I see a standard 403 error page.
Code:
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache/2.0.54 (Fedora) Server at wiki.domain.com Port 80. What am I missing here? Seems like my ErrorDocument is not being reached..
I'm trying to set up an OpenLDAP server on a clean install of 10.04 server (AMD64). Following the server guide [URL] I get down to the "Setting up ACL" step: $ ldapsearch -xLLL -b cn=config -D cn=admin,cn=config -W oldDatabase=hdb oldAccess This command fails with "ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)"
When I replace the dn with what it seems like it should be: $ ldapsearch -xLLL -b cn=config -D cn=admin,dc=example,dc=com -W oldDatabase=hdb oldAccess I get "No such object (32)" I have a feeling this is because 10.04 no longer asks you for the admin username and password during the initial debconf (nor does dpkg-reconfigure).
I can continue through the guide using this form of the commands (which were used earlier in the Guide): $ sudo ldapsearch -Y EXTERNAL -H ldapi:/// -b cn=config olcDatabase=hdb olcAccess But I'm a little concerned that I'm not able to properly use the admin user to make LDAP changes to the configuration. It also seems like the Server Guide ought to use the 'sudo ... -Y EXTERNAL' form of the commands throughout if cn=admin,cn=config isn't going to work.
I've recently been trying to secure my Apache2 server running suPHP on an Ubuntu 10.10 box. My ideal solutions are to
1) Specify a specific php.ini on a per virtualhost basis. I have tried using the PHPINIDir directive inside a virtualhost block in my 'sites-available/default' file, but the parser throws an error
Invalid command 'PHPINIDir', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configurations I have figured out that the reason this directive is not recognized is because my server is running mod suPHP instead of mod php5. The default site on the server requires suPHP to perform certain administrative functions. First question would be, is there some other way to specify a specific php.ini besides using PHPINIDir, or does anyone have any ideas of how to get PHPINIDir to be understood under the current configuration?
2) Activate/Deactivate php5 on a per virtualhost basis. This will allow me to use PHPINIDir to specify a specific and secure php.ini. I know that I have php5 installed, as 'a2enmod php5' with a restart will activate php5 and override suPHP. Does anybody know what the commands would look like to load the php5 modules from inside a virtualhost block? I have looked around on the internet and found these two lines of code to add that will supposedly activate php5 under a virtualhost
LoadModule php5-module modules/libphp5.so AddHandler php5-script php I do not have a 'modules' directory in my /etc/apache2 folder, so I did a search for libphp5.so and found the only copy on my machine located in /usr/lib/apache2/modules. Naturally, I tried LoadModule php5-module /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so AddHandler php5-script php but received an error apache2: Syntax error ...: Can't locate API module structure 'php5-module' in file /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so
Surely I can't be the only one who's needed to specify different php.ini files for different virtualhost's while using suPHP, and I'd also have to assume I'm not the first one who's tried to integrate suPHP and php5 on a per virtualhost basis. Anyone have any ideas? I'm completely stuck, and that's the worst kind of stuck. The Apache2, suPHP, and php5 installations on my machine are standard for Ubuntu 10.10
I just reinstalled my server with Ubuntu 11.04 and I am now trying to put my websites back in place. The problem is that the configuration directive AssignUserId is no longer working. I simply get this:
Code: root@silvertejp:/etc/apache2/sites-available# service apache2 startStarting web server apache2 Syntax error on line 12 of /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/finn:
Invalid command 'AssignUserId', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration This worked fine on Ubuntu 10.04. Should I install some module? How?
