Ubuntu :: Open Port For Transmission Or Deluge To Use Torrents?

Apr 2, 2010

How to open port for transmission or deluge to use torrents, 'cause any of both programs can download any torrent. I've searched on the internet and only find about open ports on hardware router, and that's weird 'cause Deluge on windows works perfect just after installing it and there's no need to open any port on hardware router.

Ubuntu :: 'Error' For Torrents In Deluge Over 2Gb

Feb 2, 2011

I've just setup a virtual Ubuntu 10.10 machine on my server running Deluge and WebUI. The WebUI seems to work fine, but if I upload a torrent with a total size over 2Gb I just get an 'error' as soon as the torrent is run.The download folder is a CIFS share to a NAS (Acer Altos EasyStore) folder, I can download torrents that are less than 2Gb in total without any problems.I can read/write large files from the command line or Nautilus but any torrent uploaded to Deluge larger than 2Gb is flagged as 'error' as soon as it is run (with no actual error listed in the torrent details).

Ubuntu Servers :: Allow Deluge To Access Torrents Added To Samba Share

Jun 22, 2010

I'm trying to set up the following "server" system. (I say "server" because I'm really running ubuntu-desktop 10.04 LTS):

I have set up Samba and allowed guest access to my /media/Share/data using Windows 7. Everything works great, I can create folders, add files, etc. However I noticed that when I add files or folders via my mapped drive in Windows 7, it defaults to permissions that do not allow Deluge to access them. I realized that if I go back to the server and give it

Code:
sudo chmod 0777 /media/Share/data/(folder or file)

Deluge can now access the files. I don't want to have to modify permissions every time I add a new torrent to Deluge's watch folder which is /media/Share/data/Torrents.

How do I configure Samba (or linux, or windows) to give rwx permissions when I add a file or torrent via windows? And vice versa, if deluge downloads a file and moves it to completed downloads (which I haven't been able to get this far yet) will I be able to access it via Windows 7?

Ubuntu :: How To Auto Start / Add Transmission Torrents

Apr 3, 2011

I usually add torrents to transmission through my iPhone. I have Transmission watch the 'Attachments' folder in my Dropbox. I also have Transmission auto add the torrent and delete the torrent file when done. Thing is if I don't have Transmission running when I add the torrent to my dropbox folder. Transmission doesn't start up to download the torrent. Is there a script that can watch for torrent files in my Dropbox folder that I can run in Scheduled Tasks to run every 5 min or so. Also when I have it up and running and I do have auto add on. It auto adds it to transmission but then the popup dialog appears to ask if I just want to download one of the files from the torrent or all 10. Is there a way to bypass this?

Ubuntu :: Setup Transmission/Deluge To Do RSS Feed Downloading?

Jan 21, 2011

I'm trying to set up Transmission/Deluge to do RSS feed downloading. I've got the clients working when I drop a torrent into the folder just fine, but FlexGet is giving me some trouble. I'm using feeds from EZTV & EZRSS to get the torrents for a show. I've used the feeds for months for uTorrent in Windows, so I know they're good. Below is my ~/.flexget/config.yml file.

Code:
feeds:
The Daily Show:
rss: 'https://www.ezrss.it/search/index.php?show_name=The+Daily+Show&date=&quality=&release_group=&mode=rss'
series:
- The Daily Show

[Code]...

Error) download download Failed The Daily Show 2011-01-17 [HDTV - FQM] (URL Error) This happens for every torrent in the feed. I think it has something to do with it substituting %28 for [, %29 for ], and so on, but I'm not sure how to fix it (or if it's actually the problem).

4. Will creating a static ip and forwarding that port solve my problem of only being able to use the internet while Transmission is on?

Ubuntu Security :: Restrict Open Ports In Firestarter When Using Torrents?

Aug 19, 2010

I am trying to configure Bittorando and iptables using Firestarter. I have got it working but am concerned about security holes.

Let me explain.

AIUI, the Bittornado program contacts the "tracker" on various ports which (from the previously blocked connections in Firestarter) ranged from 4664 to 65532. Therefore, currently I have set this range to be open to allow downloads of the torrent.

However, this seems, IMHO, to devalue to point of having a restrictive exit policy for Firestarter since now virtually all ports are open. I can see nothing on the Bittornado client to restrict the outgoing ports although the "listening" (incoming) ports can be restricted.

I would prefer to have my system locked-down so that the minimal number of ports are open to initiate external connections so is there any way to achieve this with Bittornado?

I have just set up the transmission bittorrent client on my server (using the web interface), and am trying to get the port forwarding right. After noticing low download speeds (and rare uploading), I decided to check if a port needed to be forwarded.

I found many conflicting sites, mentioning both the ranges 6881-6999 and the port 51413 (as well as TCP and UDP versus just TCP). My current configuration is to forward TCP and UDP port 51413 to my server.

Server :: Open SMTP Port On Router (which Connects LAN To Internet) Also Needs To Open?

Apr 14, 2010

I have sendmail running on my centOS 4.6. My lamp server also runs on it. I want to send mail through php mail function. when i execute php page, which fires the mail function, it takes so much long tim1 say even 1 minute, and at last displays that message sent successfully. Suppose, destination address is [URL].... I did not get any mail there. My server is running in LAN. I checked the status of sendmail, it shows me that it ios running. when i issue "nmap localhost" it shows me that SMTP port 25 is open, but when i issue "nmap myserver" (192.168.1.20 myserver ( written in hostfile)), it does not show that SMTP port is open.

I checked the /var/log/maillog, one person in my previous post advice me to see that. There it shows that message is accepted for delivery...but i do not get any mail in my destination, even not in spam folder. One more confusion is that, in my case my server is in LAN and if I am at all enable to open the SMTP port on it, does i need to open SMTP port on my router (which connects my LAN to internet) also needs to open? I think no, because SMTP is application layer protocol, it will wrap my mail in IP packet, which router just need to forward. am i right?

Ubuntu Networking :: Cannot Open Port 80

May 23, 2010

I just installed apache. I didn't change the configuration files at all except add Quote: # added servername to avoid the could not determine fqdn error ServerName myname.homelinux.org to apache2.conf. Apache is working locally (I get the `it's working' screen at [URL]). However, I cannot access my computer from an external computer by going to [URL], which is equivalent to [URL] -- [IP address changed slightly for privacy] Here is a screenshot to my router settings. I disabled the filter for port 80 on the router. here shouldn't be a firewall, unless it's automatically installed with ubuntu 10.4. (sudo ufw status says `inactive'.)

I checked my ports from [URL] and indeed port 22 is open (ssh-ing into my computer externally is not a problem), whereas port 80 is closed. What step in opening up port 80 am I missing? (I also made sure my ISP isn't blocking port 80.)
