I have tried downloading including the launchpad ppa and wanted to install shotwell, but get the following error:
libgexiv2-0: Depends: libexiv2-6 but it is not installable

Depends: sqlite3 (>= 3.5.9) but it is not installable
Depends: libraw-dev (>= 0.9.0) but it is not going to be installed
Is anyone else having trouble...I'm getting a ton of "Failed to fetch..." errors while updating.The site itself is working fine. No news here [URL]. Normally I wouldn't be concerned, however this happened right when I modified my sources so I'm hoping I didn't mess something up.

its not related to the mint packages because i installed the keyring for that and since the error i have unchecked the linux mint repo. i have tried reinstalling the ubuntu-keyring package with no luck.

Shotwell keeps on crashing when importing either from a folder or my iPhone. I am using it on an S10 netbook. I tried several versions but keeps on getting the same problem. I am thinking of cleaning everything from Shotwell and reinstall. I am running Ubuntu on an iMac via vbox (with less resource) and do not get the problem.
I tried searching but have not gotten any solid answer to resolve it.
I need make the copy of my images system on the second PC. But I can`t transfer its data. It seems that the way to images is stored absolutly, for example /home/john/images/holiday. If the second user`s name is Marry, the way will be /home/marry/images/holiday and Shotwell don`t accept this.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running ubuntu 10.04 on one computer, 10.10 on another two and kubuntu 10.04 on a 4th computer.
I'd like to get the latest version of shotwell installed on each of those computers. That way I can share libraries among the computers and keep my pictures in sync with tags and events.
How would I go about doing that other than upgrading all the computers to 10.10. Is this something ubuntu can do or is this a downside of ubuntu?
If i start shotwell i get this message.shotwell: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libgee.so.2: undefined symbol: g_malloc0_n

I'm a desktop user and I rely heavily on Debian and shotwell to organize my images. I also use shotwell to publish images to a popular social networking site, Facebook. Recently I wasn't able to make shotwell publish into Facebook.
I was still on Debian Wheezy and decided it was time to dist-upgrade to Debian Jessie and hope that this would sort things out. It wasn't easy for me to upgrade - but I think I made a fairly satisfying one as I can normally use what I use my desktop for (work and entertainment).
I still cannot use shotwell to publish into Facebook.
is there a way to import video in shotwell photo manager? i had that option with Gthumb but can't find it in shotwell?

Connected Camera. Imported photos to Shotwell.Shotwell asked whether to keep or erase photo from camera. I chose to erase.Started viewing the imported photos. After sometime Shotwell froze.Checked my photos folder, the photos haven't been copied there yet. Checked the camera; It's empty.There were 2 sqlite databases (.tmp files) in /tmp. Copied. I couldn't find those photos in either /tmp or ~/.shotwell or anywhere else.

I'm using Debian testing but I want Shotwell (and nothing else) from experimental. I also like to be notified when there is an update to Shotwell in experimental. Will that be achieved if I add experimental to sources.conf and the following to preferences?

I'm on Debian Wheezy using Shotwell 0.12.3. I have a bunch of .MOV videos that I want to import to Shotwell. I choose import from folder and select copy pictures. The import proceeds and shotwell tells med the .MOV (and some .jpg:s) are imported. The pictures are imported with no problem and placed in an event 2014-10-19 as expected. But videos are placed in an event dated 2004-01-01 and not in 2014-10-19 where they belong. Obviously, Shotwell does not use the files last edit date. I though maybe there was some bad dates in the metadata and opened the files in both Totem and VLC player but concluded there is no such metadata available (as far as I can tell).So how does Shotwell determine the date for .MOV files? Where does 2004-01-01 come from? Seems random.
Then, I tried dragging all movies in Shotwell to the event where it really belongs. That is, where the recently imported photos got placed 2014-10-19. But instead of the videos beeing moved into that correct event, now all photos appears in the 2004-01-01 event.Undo that last step and close Shotwell. Then, instead I manually (in nautilus) copy the .mov files to the 2014-10-19 folder where the picures resides. Open Shotwell again which detects something happened and starts import the videos again. Unfortunatley they still show up in the 2004-01-01 event
Another wierd thing is if I manually (in nautilus) move the Shotwell 2004-01-01 folder away from the Pictures folder (out of reach for Shotwell). Then when I re-open Shotwell the event does not appear anymore - as expected. But If I try to once again import the videos, Shotwell tells me all videos are duplicates and does not import them!?! In other words, manually removing a folder from Shotwell mess up the database. And that database is obviously not used to populate the events tree in the gui.How do I get my video to appear in the correct event? Alternatively; is there a photo/video library in Debian that actually works?

I have some cds that have tracks that run right into each other (ie one finishes and seamlessly moves into the next one without pause). How can I backup my cds retaining their original sound?Prior to Ubuntu days, I used to just rip in mediaplayer in windows and then use then use that playlist to burn to a cd.

I was able to open a short movie I have uploaded onto my pc from my digital camera. Edit -> Multitrack mode seems to be where multiple movies can be placed. I do not seem to be able to place the still images on here. Maybe I can and they just don't show up on the timeline well.

I have a problem with Transmission. After using it for over six months without a single problem, it suddenly stopped downloading. In the torrents that do no get downloaded, I get an error message Tracker responded: Unknown error (0) in the info window, tracker tab. But there are torrents with the same tracker that don'thave a problem and get downloaded fineThe logs don't give a clue about whats wrong either.I tried downloading those torrents with Vuze and I had the same problem. View 3 Replies View RelatedJust bought a sony HDR-XR150 high def handycam. Thought since it had a USB connection (no firewire) that it would just mount as a drive and I'd be able to download the videos no problem. Well, it turns out it's a big problem... all the apps capable of talking to video cameras seem to only be able to use firewire. The camera does indeed mount as a drive but none of the video files I found seem to work... I get some video on some of the files from vlc but no sound and nothing seems to be able to transcribe the video. I'm currently on kubuntu 9.10 64 bit (2.6.31-20-generic)
Update: Found a series of .mts files on the camcorder. Nothing would read them properly except kdenlive -- seems to be the only thing that works!
I have a Firefox addon called Download Helper that lets me download many of the videos I see on the internet. Sometimes, I run into something I can't. I'd like to know exactly how to download these files: [URL]. It seems they are encoded with their own player, but mousing over them also brings up Adobe Flash Player 10.0. Download helper normally gets this stuff. Is there a Firefox extension or a program that would let me capture these videos? Or, for that matter, one that could succinctly tell me upon mousing over a video exactly what kind of file it is?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI wanted to listen to some of my MP3's to see if they worked. So I double-clicked on one of them and got a message saying "search for suitable plugin?"
I clicked on "search." It then searches plugin packages and tells me to select the packages for installation. The available packages are:
gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly
I checked off all of them and then clicked "install." I then get a window to "confirm installation of restricted software." I click on confirm and then get a window saying "authenticate to install or remove software, you need to authenticate" and it asks for a password. I'm assuming they mean my login password. I enter my password and click "authenticate" but then nothing happens. The password entry space goes away but the authenticate window remains. I don't know if I'm supposed to manually close it after clicking authenticate. But I tried that. What happens when I close the "authenticate" window is that another window appears saying "applying changes" but then I get a message saying "requires installation of untrusted packages. The action would require the installation of packages from not authenticated sources." In Win7, am gettingg a download speed of 102Mb/s whereas in Ubuntu only 40 Mb/s...
Do i need to configure something..

Is there a way to have bash identify the file that prompts the error and writes its name to the same file as the error (in my case, frencherrors.TX)?I've tried a painfully simple syntax that does something identical to a 2>&1 'suffix", namely frenchgentsfinder.sh 2 $file>>frencherrors.TX. It makes sense to me as written, but I'd like to know why I'm getting nothing on screen and everything directed to the file when what I want to see in the latter are the filenames causing the errors along with the text of the errors.
Is there another level one has to bore down into before they can garner this kind of output? If so, what is it and how does one invoke it in bash?
I got a problem while updating KDE from 4.1.2 to 4.2. In our college we can't download more than 20MB officially. So I'm unable to get kdegames which is 32MB from Konsole so I downlaoded it using proxy and I copied it into the /var/cache/yum/updates/packages/ folder and now using this command (yum groupinstall 'KDE (K Desktop Environment)').
I tried to update to KDE 4.2 using Konsole but it is showing:

And even by double-clicking the KDEgames rpm file I'm unable to install it is saying GPG (I'm not sure GPG or not, start with G i think) Key missing so it is taking too much time and not doing anything.
I've downloaded the DVD version of Fedora 12 with a torrent so it shouldn't be corruped - checked the hash anyway and it wasn't - and I burnt it at a low speed and has my burning program verify that it did indeed burn what it was supposed to. I tested the disc for errors and every time it shows up that around the 70% mark that the DVD has an error.
