i m planning to formatting my machine.and backuping everything.is there any way to back up catches lyrics. there are 2000 lyrics. and i cant afford to loose them all. so any thing that i can do about it ?
View 4 RepliesI installed the banshee-extension-lyrics addon from the repos and it doesn't seem to have any effect on Banshee. I've searched through Banshee's Preferences and the Lyrics option is already checked under the Extensions tab, but it doesn't work.
There is an option for the lyrics to be displayed is in the context pane, but it always says the same thing:

The problem, then, is that although the Lyrics option is available and does something, it doesn't display actual lyrics!
how to import, link, save and display the lyrics of the song being played? I am using VLC for all audio and video files. If VLC does not have this functionality any other media player will do.

This is getting really annoying, I tried changing my lyrics database and everything but it still shows just that. My ~/.ncmpcpp/config file:

For windows, I've lyrics plugin. Is there such plugin for Ubuntu 10.04? How to use?I had tried Amarok but it always shows connection to server failed while fetching lyrics but it never happens with windows. In windows I can always view the lyrics, why is it so?

Amarok 2 added a lyrics panel. Current version: Amarok 2.2 (kubuntu karmic).I have never been able to get any lyrics to display. Once in awhile, the lyrics panel displays "*/", but that's all I get. I tried very popular songs (e.g. More Than A Feeling - Boston) and even looked it up on lyricwiki and verified that it was there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure if this is a known issue or not, but I have a strange problem when I scroll through certain applications. For example, whenever I scroll through songbird's lyrics pane or add-ons pane (does not affect the main library pane), the bottom 1/5 scrolls while the top 4/5 stays static. The same applies scrolling up, the top 1/5 scrolls and the rest stays static (the middle never moves either way I scroll).
I've tried using arrow keys to scroll, but it is the same issue. I vaguely remember another app that had this problem (can't think of it at the moment), so I don't think it's a songbird glitch. Does anyone else have this problem or a solution to it?

Many things turn up with a web search, most of them being plug-in scripts for various music clients. I read this page, which got me started: [URL]. It has been the closest match to that for which I'm looking.Unfortunately it's kinda old. So I looked at the source code of ncmpcpp, a console MPD client that can retrieve lyrics. I have only a dial up internet connection and it's discouraging to start up the connection just for the lyrics to one or two songs. I've downloaded many already using the lyrics search feature I compiled ncmpcpp with.

I'm trying to back up one of my dvds to my hdd. My usual method is to copy the video_ts folder onto my hdd and convert it from there. I popped this dvd into my computer and nautilus is saying that there is 71.8gb of data on this disk. If I run df -h, here's what I see:

There are actually 65 of these 1gb files. why this is happening or how to get this backed up?
when i play a song in banshee, or a videos video, i get no sound at all. however, in banshee 1 3 minute song will appear to play in about 20 seconds (the progress bar speeds along), and videos videos play back in ultra-fast motion with no sound. weirdly, when i go to system settings -> multimedia, and click test on the default sound device, the kde login sound plays back fine. this worked when i first installed; does anyone know what's going on here? i think it may be a problem with gstreamer?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to find a good way to rip my dvd collection to .iso files so that i can back them up on my media server. my eventual goal is to be able to play these on my htpc over the network. note before anyone gets pissy: there is no piracy involved, I own all of the dvds that I will be ripping.anyway I've gotten as far as installing all the necessary codecs (i think) off of the medibuntu repos but brasero fails at 97% or so and while k3b does complete the rip, if i try using gnome mplayer, vlc or movieplayer to play the iso all i get is either the FBI warning or at most the dvd menu before the program crashes.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a problem with Banshee. When I boot up, it automatically starts up, which seems innocent enough. However, I opened up Exaile (because Banshee had this problem of not recognizing spaces in some of my songs' filenames, replacing them with '%20'), and closed Banshee from its notifications icon. It closed, but about 3-5 seconds later its window pops up again. I used Ctrl+Q to quit, but it still came back after a few seconds. I've tried opening up a terminal and typing "killall banshee-1", but still, Banshee keeps coming back. Even though I restart and not open Exaile, Banshee still keeps coming back when I try to kill it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to Mythbuntu 10.10 from 9.10 (clean install) on my combined front/backend I cannot get monitor (Dell 3007) to switch off from remote, I have been using simple script to DPMS force off for years with no problems, it still works, but some random time later the backlight comes back on. I have tryed the more complex scripts that stop and start the frontend and all of the acpi_osi options. Disabling screensaver has no effect. what causes this, or how to fix? Sysem is Abit IP35e (I suspect this board is the problem)

I have 2 remote frontends both upgraded OK. I have tryed installing 10.10 on a 'scrap' P4 machine, DPMS off works fine on it. I would try another install and/or another MoBo but its the only TV system in the house now.
I upgraded directly from 10.04 (Lucid), and now have TWO problems. I thought I was upgrading to 10.10. Surprise! I now have 11.04, and the following Web site is broken:

(1) How do I get that to play? What is the format/requirement?

After running system update my dual monitor (twinview) setup stopped working.I believe this change ruined it: nvidia-current(260.19.29-0ubuntu1~xup-lucid4, 270.18-0ubuntu1~lucid~xup1)I've tried reworking NVIDEA X Server Settings with no success. I've tried some manual manipulation of xorg.conf with no success.I can't seem to figure out how to downgrade back to nvidia-current(260.19.29-0ubuntu1~xup-lucid4).
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a long time I had a problem with my geforce 6200 with instable signal and where the monitor all of a sudden would say 'no signal'. Moving the connector on the video card would get it back for a while. Bad contact was the conclusion but I found that I could still switch to a console and had a stable signal (so much for that conclusion). Decided to replace it with another nvidia based card (Leadtek Winfast PX8400GS) as that seemed the easiest. Installed it and started the system. After selecting Ubuntu in grub the system starts more or less (I get the walking dots) and (I guess) when the desktop should appear the I get a 'cable not connected' from the monitor; could also not switch to a console
Put old card back, and got similar issues (not being able to switch to console) Booted into recovery mode and disabled the driver; rebooted again and I ended with 1280x1024 resolution (lower resolution was expected); still instable video. Replaced the old card with the new one and it works (stable video, now on 800x600) Checked restricted drivers and they were in use ( ); wanted to 'disable' them but removed them and I don't see a way to get them back. Sorry for this long intro, but tried to be as complete as possible.
So first question: how do I get the restricted drivers back; references on the internet refer the (Synaptic) package manager but I don't see it there; probably blind Other questions might follow as I don't expect it to solve the issue. Any tips in advance are welcome as well (tried to do some research but did not quite find it yet) PS ASUS Motherboard, AMD Athlon 3000, 1GB RAM; running Ubuntu 10.04/64
Just upgraded to 11.4 and am at bottom of learning curve again. With previous system (11.2) vlc was default application for videos.Now it is Kaffeine.How can I set default back to VLC please?

Well, I had recently removed every single file regarding banshee, and when I reinstalled it, the tray icon turned into this (I pressume I removed the tray icon as well and it didn't "return after" reinstalling banshee): How can I fix this and bring the tray icon back? I've tried reinstalling it, even installing newer (sometimes unstable) versions, and it didn't work.

When I try to record something through the laptops mic, usb webcam mic or with desktop recorders audio record feature all playback is too fast (sounds a bit like alvin and the chipmunks :L ) Is anybody else having this problem, or even better know how to fix it ?

I have accidentally deleted the soundmenu in the panel that comes with the new ubuntu 10.10. After going through various posts all I can see, is that the solutions provided only provide the applet for sound control and does not have any integration with any of the music players (in my case Rhythmbox).I really want that menu back as it made listening to music while using multiple desktops very easy.
