View 8 RepliesRegarding the use of lifecam VX-3000 with skype. In this thread Microsoft lifecam Vx-3000 webcam - HELP
I found a set of commands that allow me to use my webcam within skype by running the following Code:
Unfortunately, it looks like I need to type in these lines every time I restart skype. Is there a way to automate the process, so that when I start my computer it executes the code before starting skype?
What this code does? I find it difficult to run commands without knowing what they do. Do you have to be a programmer to know about these commands or should everyone who uses suse know about that.
I switched from windows not long ago.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've seen several posts about adjusting the brightness on webcams within Ubuntu going through /sys/module/... /parameters/ however, I need directions for the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema specifically. It runs well with Skype but during the day the image is way too bright so I look like a ghost on cam. I'm running with UBUNTU 10.04 LTS *Lucid Lynx* on a DELL D620 laptop.
View 8 Replies View RelatedGot to say first off, I have LOVED the 10.10 release, absolutely adore it. Only problem that I have noticed thus far, is that when I use any of the non standard buttons, it causes my left clicking to stop working.
It's not a big deal but something that does come in handy every once in a while =/
I'm trying to configure my Microsoft Intellimouse 3000 in Ubuntu 10.04 and am not really having any luck. Basically all I want is to have the thumb button set as my back command. And of course if that's easy then I would want to assign commands to all buttons.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the webcam model Microsoft LifeCam NX-6000 running on my Toshiba Satellite laptop with Debian Sid and kernel 2.6.32.8. I am able to get the program GUCView to work without any problems, but I can not get my webcam to work with either aMSN or Skype (2.1 Beta for Linux). I don't know what to do next, or what my options are at this time. All of my friends/family use MSN and/or Skype with MS Windows or Mac. I am able to get sound/voice to work but no visuals.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed the gspca2 driver for my webcam, but in kopete, I still get only a wierd multi colored/scrambled thick line across the top of the webcam screen and the rest remains blank. This is in Kopete. In Kopete, under video, under device, under input, it shows "sonixj" and the device is "USB camera". I know the webcam works in Win7/Vista/XP, but I am trying to get away from using those OSs.
I had tried the 1 click SuSE install of the gspca2 driver but it wouldn't complete the install. Doing it in YaST directly seemed to work but I still get the same bad screen when using the webcam, which has it's LED light up.
I plugged my Microsoft VX5000 Lifecam into my Ubuntu 10.10 system and expected it to fire up and work like a charm. Well I had high hopes for the new year but I see it's not going to be easy. I tried to use Skype and Camorama. It just does not see the web cam. When I plug it in, I see the little blue light come on for a second then go off.

I want to use my camera with Skype under OpenSuse 11.1. The camera is listed in the yast2 hardware configuration.
I tried to test the camera with luvcview.
I only get an error message:

A way to get this very popular webcam working on his linux PC? If not, which camera is the perfect "LINUX" webcam?
After having fixed the video on my webcam to use it with Skype I want to use the microphone as well...
Skype offers two microphones that seem to be related to the USB webcam. I have tried both of them and with different settings in kmix where I see a tab called "usb camera" with a microphone slider and a tick box. There is also an option to use "audio gain control". no success with all possible combinations.
Then I tried to use the microphone with a small software called "flrec", no success either.
My VX3000 webcam seems to be recognized by skype and kopete, however the image is terrible (green screen with some colour-ful dots at the top).
Here is some output that might shed some light on the issue:
This is what I have installed

However the output at runtime of Kopete might give a hint to the problem:

Okay, I've got a small webcam for my laptop that doesn't come with Linux drivers, only Windows drivers. Any linux-based drivers that came with Ubuntu 9.04 that might work don't. How do I make the Windows drivers for the webcam work with the hardware so I can use the webcam?
View 9 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.10 installed no problems. Like what i see so far But how do I install drivers etc for Webcam (Logitech Quickcam STX) Printer (Cannon MP600). I've never had a webcam on linux before and would like to get it to work with skype and what not.
I would like to install Ubuntu 10 on my Thinkpad T400, but would like feedback from other T400 users that have Ubuntu running on their laptops. First, will it recognize all my hardware? I hear most Thinkpad users had issues with video and webcam drivers, but that was with an earlier version of Ubuntu 8 through 9. So my plan is to have Ubuntu 10 as my primary OS on the T400 and use Win7 within VMware.
