View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyway my actual problem is to change my pictures, download and music folders, since my files are in another HDD partition; I can make it with Ubuntu Tweak, but at the first reboot folders are resetted. Which is the problem? Does this application conflicts with another one (as "compiz fusion icon")?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI used ubuntu tweak to change where my default folders are (im dual booted with windows 7 and most of my data is still in them folders), but now after logging back in and going to my home folder ("dan"), all of the original folders have gone, and appeared strangely on the desktop.
I dont know if i accidently messed with some other settings but is there any way I can restore this all back to how it was then have another go at the "tweaking"?
I have a computer running 8.04.4. After a large number of updates, I can no longer run ubuntu-tweak correctly. The program states "This feature is only available in Gnome Desktop Environment" on most of the items.I am POSITIVE that I am running the Gnome desktop. Also, when I reload the repositories I receive the following error:Code:W: GPG error: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available NO_PUBKEY (then a hexadecimal number)

Check if you are currently running another software management tool, e.g. Synaptic or aptitude. Only one tool is allowed to make changes at a time.
I would like to be able to do what the package cleaner does in Ubuntu Tweak. What sort of command line magic is needed to clear unused config files, old kernels, cache and packages?

I have ubuntu 11.04 installed with gnome3. Some days ago (after a regular update) I notice some applications not running.
Here is an example of the error message:

If u are usibg debaian or its derivative we can tweak out the terminal prompt. For example:

If you are interested in tweaking. open up the .bashrc file in your home directory and add these lines

replace this with :-) or any other thingy u can think of. 34 represents colour, in our case it is red. The result will be

This was seen in a book i read. if u have any doubt at all please post. i'm stll thinking of how i can remove the line saying "ubuntu@ubuntu" and just have "~$" at the prompt.
i have just done something silly. I have Xubuntu installed and i opened Window Desktop Tweak i think and stupidly i enabled Composting and slid all the sliders the wrong way and now i cant see any of my windows .
What do i do or how can i correct this as i cant see anything ?
I need to move the 'notifications' that are displayed to the bottom right corner and also reduce its display timeCan't find where they are controlled from and they are pretty annoying (most of the time)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Swat 4 (legally) as well as wine, using all defaults I hoped it would work. (yeah right) After installing using wine, which worked great, I get an error when I try to play the game. Wine is trying to load the game from the Cd drive yet it's installed.
EDIT: forgot to mention that wine does recognize that I have installed the program to its virtual c drive.
Installed Jessie and added the Nvidia Proprietary drivers. All looks good.
When I open the Gnome Tweak Tool it appears to be working fine but won't change anything. If I click on a check box the check appears for a split second and then disappears. Tried re-starting a few times, same. Haven't found anything relevant on the net yet.
I've been working with Macs nowadays and noticed that programs load like "instantly" once it has been open and closed.
I don't know if MAC is pre-fetching them to somewhere but it is good to start Firefox right after you closed it.
what MAC actually does and how this could be implemented ? I have 6gb of ram on my laptop. Running Kubuntu 10.04 RC1.
[URL]... Anyone got this going on slackware? I've a single cpu and twincore here and the videos of the original patch were impressive. I tried it and I don't have /sys/fs/cgroup anything. So I added the cgroup scheduler in 2.6.35, but no dice. Do I have to go to git or 2.6.37??
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just installed F15 over the weekend, and since then I've been having stability issues - primarily it seems to be related to gnome 3 (I've used fedora since its early days, and have never had such stability issues in the prior versions). Basically, when I use gnome-tweak-tool to make a modification, the system crashes; and I have to completely shut off the unit (unplug it) for it to even boot up properly. Today, I tried to change one of the options from its default, and now the very top (black bar) won't show.
I'm in the "File Manager" mode and can see the "Computer", "home" and "Trash" icons. I can move them about; and click on any of them to open. But once they're open nothing else works (clicking on any of the directories, etc, has no effect). I can ctl-alt-F2; but that's the extent. I deleted the .gconf and .gconfd directories (suggested in a different thread on a similar issue), but that didn't change anything. How do I bring back the default gnome 3 bar at the top?
I rebuilt my user account from scratch (that was the fastest approach for me). Nevertheless, gnome-tweak-tool does crash (for example, each time I turn on "File Manager"). This is clearly a bug. I'm using nvidia GTX 480; the problem might somehow be related to the card/driver. I definitely spoke too early I logged out of my account; logged back in, and the top bar is gone again and I'm left with having to deal with this again.
Today I updated using yum there was a update to something called control- center (2 updates for this) It said it was for changing fonts backgrounds, themes etc... is this just a update for systems settings or tweak tool or a new program? I know I cant change themes in System Settings so what is this...Anyone download this today? I cant find a new application.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've changed the theme in tweak to 'dust and sand' but I don't get the window frames changing. There's a blue surround that didn't change with the theme change. Also I'm assuming the button layout will revert once the window frames do....Like the gnome3 interface better than unity though.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using gnome shell 3.4.2.1 from the stable debian repository. 2 problems with the gnome-tweak-tool:
1) The extensions list is empty, even when the gnome-shell-extensions package is installed
2) in the non-classic mode only, setting made in the tool have no effect: e.g. Shell->Show date in clock does not toggle the date in the clock.
