Oct 21, 2010I downloaded Amarok, but it won't play my MP3 songs. How to I get it to, is there a codec or something I need to download for this?

Jun 30, 2010when I try to play music on amarok it just won't play, it just loads lyrics and then, nothing. on rytmbox everthing works fine but amarok don't work.

May 29, 2010Just finished installing Kubuntu 10.04 and already got in trouble .. Amarok refuses to play any of my music ( the fun part is that it doesn't give me any messages, too .. it just skips the playlist entries, one by one till the end ).

Apr 29, 2010the problem is Amarok cant play these files so i dont have them in collection till i dont give here password, so amarok must again Scan all the files (about 6000 songs) and it takes long and i want to know any way to skip this.

Jun 18, 2011I'm having trouble trying to get Amarok to play CDs or play tracks from any Media Device.
When I insert a CD into my CD drive the Device Notifier widget gives me 2 options "Play Audio CD with Kaffeine" and "Play Audio CD with Amarok". Kaffeine can play the CD but Amarok doesn't see the device.
Also when I attach my iPod to my computer I can view the files in Dolphin but the device isn't shown in the Content Browser of Amarok.
In Amaroks configuration menu I have the plugins for both AudioCd Collection and iPod Collection

Igo to playlist at top then add media scroll to cd-rom on the lfet and pick a cda file but it wont play, what am i missing, i just went through mmcheck and added what i needed. is it suppose to play in amorok as well?
Software :: Amarok 2.3.0 Does Not Play / What To Do?
Jun 17, 2010Amarok 2.3.0 is mute. None of the music software installed works. FFMPEG, OGG, ALSA, XINE, Pulseaudio have all been installed but there is no sound coming from amarok.
amarok acts like it is playing but without sound emanating from it. Although I tried to unmute various programs on my computer.

Feb 19, 2010I have installed Amarok on clean Ubuntu 9.10 and when I tried to play some mp3 files it just skip them all and finish the play list. I don't know how to fix this, maybe I need something to be installed. On other programs the files works fine. I have some Intel efault sound card.

May 11, 2010I've been a Ubuntu user for the last 7 days and just switched from Vista.I've been loving it so far except for this tiny problem.
Amarok does not play media files at all.The pre-installed Rhythmbox with 10.04 works great.In Amarok,it isn't that I don't get sound. It just won't play. If I click a file, then click play it quickly goes through an amount of songs and then it tries to play all the songs in the playlist unsuccessfully.
I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx and Amarok 2.3.0(KDE 4.4.2) in a 32 bit system.

Aug 17, 2011im brand new to kubuntu and ived never used amarok before and its kinda confusing me. i have all my songs imported and they all show up, but they wont play. double clicking them doesnt do anything, though at the bottom right of the amarok window it says "now playing [song title]". ive gotten a few songs to play but not most of them.

Feb 16, 2010I have just installed opensuse 11.2 and I am trying to get Amarok to work. I click on Coolstreams, click on my favourite station.
The toolbar tells me the music is playing (confirms the name of the song and other of its details) but there is no sound nor timer count.
Could a music playing plugin be missing ?
If so what is it?

Apr 12, 2010I'm having a problem playing music in Amarok 2.3, although it worked fine in Amarok 2.0 and still works fine in Amarok 1.4 which I can still run.
Firstly, when I start Amarok 2.3, it displays an error message saying that no support for MP3 files is installed, and asks if I would like to install it now. It then says that support for MP3 has been successfully installed. But when I try to play a track, nothing happens, nothing. It doesn't even try to play it.
I have another thread here, regarding multimedia settings: Multimedia - Cannot load library /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_phonon.so - openSUSE Forums, but not sure if it is related.

Aug 7, 2010I've just installed suse 11.3 and installed the necessary mp3/ogg etc packages for Amarok. But amarok just keeps crashing when i try to play an audio cd, mp3 or radio stream. something about segmentation fault, but not enough data for a bug report. Kaffeine plays audio like a charm, but amarok seems only able to crash. I really hate any not working programs on my computer, so what can i do to solve this?
solving meaning:
1) get rid of amarok, but keep kaffeine playing every format.
2) fix amarok so it plays audio.
I am really a noob to linux and not a big fan of the terminal.

Why this problem. I'm using the gstreamer backend. I tried changing it to xine but then nothing would play. I really like Amarok and want to use it as my main player, so this issue is a little irritating.

May 17, 2010For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting.
