Fedora :: Webcam Does Not Work - Xawtv Package Error

Jun 18, 2010

I have a standard Fedora 13 system where it is runnign fine, there it uses the uvcvideo kernel module and gives me a picture in resolution 640x480. Then I have a second system, based on Fedora 8, stripped down to a minimum size (it is working as headless system) and with a self-made kernel 2.6.33.5 that has compiled in i2c-core, v4l1, v4l2 and uvcvideo. There the webcam does not work, as soon as I try to access it with "webcam" of xawtv package I get an error

[Code]....

Beside of that v4l-info tells me, that it can handle a resolution of 176x144 only (instead of 640x480). Beside the difference of the resolution the output of v4l-info is identical on both systems.

General :: Cannot Get Links To Work From Internal Webpage

Jun 6, 2011

I just setup my first Linux box using [URL] everything went along fine except now I have a problem that I cannot seem to solve. I've set up a webpage on the box for my company's intra-net for testing purposes but I cannot get the links to work. On the server itself all the links work but Firefox still ask me to authenticate with the Adobe Flashplayer (player10), but when I access the page from another computer I have the following issues:-

1. Even though hostname -f shows the a fully qualified domain name I have to use the IP Address eg. 192.168.100.100
2. I can access the page but the links leading to the other pages do not work I get "Webpage cannot be found or the HTTP 404 Not Found" Error Message
3. None of the embedded pictures show up I get the red X.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: No Sound In Xawtv

Feb 20, 2010

I have just purchased a PCHDTV 5500 TV card and am trying to get it working with XAWTV. the following is a list of my hardware. EVGA Nvidia Ge Force 9500gt video card Sound Blaster live platinum sound card Q9550 Pentium quad core CPU EP45-UD3R Gigabyte motherboard Sony DVD drive Sony DVD recorder 500 GB Seagate Barracuda sata hard drive

The TV card is hooked up to my Direct TV receiver using svidio and the included cables audio connector is plugged into the line in jack on the sound card. I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and Alasa for sound I down loaded Gnome Alasa mixer and the line in slider is not muted and turned all the way up. if I go into sound preferences to the hardware tab I get two devices the cx23880/1/2/3 pci video and audio decoder(audio port) 1 input analog stereo input and the SB Live! emu10k1 1output/1 input analog stereo duplex.

I am confused shouldn't the TV card be showing an output not a input but there is only the input and off choices in the property field. under the input tab the cx23880/1/2/3 pci video ans audio card has the spot in the radio button and under the output tab the radio button is marked for the SB Live stereo stereo. NOTE: when xawtv is started and the small window pops up there are green vertical bars on the screen with the picture but if I enlarge the window they go away.

Networking :: Sometimes Not All Of A Webpage Loads?

Apr 24, 2011

I suspect the network card but I could be wrong.

Sometimes it doesn't load all of a webpage. In Firefox this results in only some of the page being displayed. In konqueror I get the "Connection to host www.page.invalid is broken" error message. The computer was doing this when running Opensuse 11.3 and continues to do it when running a clean install of Opensuse 11.4. I haven't tried a live CD of Ubuntu or something but that might be worth a go.

OpenSUSE :: Getting A PDF Viewer To Open From A Webpage?

Jan 23, 2011

In December I finally filled up my root partition and broke Suse 11.1. I therefore resized my partitions and installed Suse 11.3 on /root. I didn't not touch my /home partition.

When I click on a PDF file from a webpage, it opens it with GIMP, seems rather excessive to me. How do I open the file with Okular. I haven't been able to Google this as I am not sure what it is called. Is this 'file association' or 'application association'?
