Software :: Reverse VNC Connection To :0.1 On Port 6900?

Jul 14, 2010

I have a RHEL5 box with dual-heads (X displays :0.0 and :0.1). I have the X11 vnc module loaded properly in xorg.conf and it's serving both displays out on port 5900 and 6900 respectively. I want to be able to "send" either screen to another machine running vncviewer -listen, but I can only manage to send the primary display.

I'm using, for example: vncconfig -connect remoteviewer:5500 to initiate the reverse connection, which (understandably) makes the primary display appear on the remote listening display. However, I would expect that vncconfig -display :0.1 -connect remoteviewer:5500 would send the secondary display, but that doesn't happen, I get the primary display again. I don't see a way to manually specify the local port to tell the remote viewer to connect to, am I missing something? How do I tell the remote listening viewer to connect to port 6900 instead of 5900?

Server :: Reverse Proxy On Squid To Port 8080?

Apr 25, 2011

I have got a reverse proxy that is working just fine, it accepts requests on port 443 and port 80 and ONLY sends traffic upstream to port 80 to the apache server listening on localhost. I use the following config:

https_port 10.14.1.72:443 cert=/etc/squid/self_certs/site.crt key=/etc/squid/self_certs/site.key defaultsite=site vhost
cache_peer 127.0.0.1 parent 443 80 no-query originserver login=PASS
http_port 10.14.1.72:80 vhost

My problem is the following : The site should act differently in some occasions based on whether http or https was requested. So my idea is to setup second http vhost on apache listening to port 8080 and on that vhost I would server the https code. So is it possible to use SQUID to :

Send traffic destined for port 443 to localhost:8080
and
Send traffic destined for port 80 to localhost:80 ?

Networking :: Reverse SSH Connection Super Slow?

Dec 3, 2009

I am have setup a temporary ssh server to reverse ssh to remote clients. When a client has an issue I have them reverse ssh to my server and then from my laptop or workststation connect to there workstation. The problem that I am having is when I connect to them from behind my firewall from my laptop the connection is really slow but when I connect to them from the firewall it is fast. I am using Firestarter which is simply a GUI for iptables. I am trying to figure out what iptables rule is causing the connection to slow down behind the firewall.

Networking :: Vhost With Reverse DNS On ADSL2 Connection Not Binding

Mar 22, 2010

I'm working on an ADSL2 connection that connects via PPPoE and it is assigned a static IP. On top of the static, the ISP has assigned a small block of 6 useable IP addresses.

- The primary static IP is on the interface ppp0
- The other 6 IPs are configured as eth0:1, eth0:2, eth0:3 etc.

With the above setup all IPs are reachable and useable on the internet.

- The revers DNS has been updated for a few of these and resolves with no problems. ie: eth0:1 has the 123.123.123.123 IP and resolves to blah.host.com and blah.host.com resolves to the IP address.

- To test this I have tried a program like BNC to bind to the IP address on eth0:1 but for some reason when connecting externally the host address is coming up with the FQDN on ppp0 interface IP, not the vhost IP.

Questions is, is this the normal behaviour since its a PPPoE connection and would only work if the ISP supported a bridged connection? something on the ISP end not allowing this to work?

Red Hat / Fedora :: Netcat / Port Redirection - When A Connection Is Received On A Port Say 123?

Apr 6, 2010

i am running ncat (netcat's new version from nmap) on centos . I am listening on different ports. My question is , is it possible that when a connection is received on a port say 123, i redirect this connection to a different port and use the 123 port again for listening connections. ncat has an option -k which u can add with -l , it will force fully listen on the port. It can accept multiple connections on a single port but i want that once a client connects on to 123 port, he is forwarded to some other port and no longer on 123.

Networking :: Ethernet Port Connection With An E1/T1 Port

Aug 30, 2010

i have an embbeded hardware that uses bootp for booting from a Network Managemnt Host (NMH)on the same ethernet. The embedded hardware has both kind of ports i.e ethernet as well as E1/T1. I would like ask, what do i require to establish a communication-link between the embedded hardware and the NMH throuh E1/T1 ports of embedded hardware, so as to make it boot through from E1/T1. Further, NMH possesses only ethernet port. Just to refine my questions i'd like to know what additions do i need to do on my NMH , like may be i have to put an E1/T1 port or is it possible that the E1/T1 port can be directly connected to an ethernet port on the other host.

pardon me if i am not making absolute sense here as my knowledge is limited on Layer 1 and layer 2.

Server :: Setup Reverse Proxy With Proxy_mod To Port 443 On IIS Server

Aug 30, 2010

We currently have a SUSE Apache2 reverse proxy server setup to reverse proxy (proxy_mod) our GroupWise Web Access server. Our SUSE box is located at www.domain.com. Our GroupWise Web Access server is located internally and is called GWMail. We are in the process of migrating from Novell to Windows, so we will have an exchange server with OWA access running on a Windows Server 2008 IIS7 box. That one will be called EXMail internally. Right now when someone goes to www.domain.com/gw/webacc it goes to the GWMail internal server from the outside world. This was all set up by previous techs who used Linux more.

We would like to set up reverse proxy to be able to reverse proxy to the Exchange Server from the outside world. Unfortunately the snag we are running into is that Exchange needs to run on port 443, and forwarding to port 443 has been a little tricky. I've read elsewhere we need to implement a generic TCP proxy, such as IPtables. what we need to do to get our SUSU Apache2 server to be able to reverse proxy to our Exchange server on port 443. For the save of argument lets call our SUSE server ExtranetServer. Below is our default-configuration.conf file's configuration:

Ubuntu :: Catalyst 11.1 And Radeon HD 6900 Series?

Jan 29, 2011

First problem is that there does not seem to be any Catalyst Control Center available for this driver. Is there one anywhere for Linux for this driver? The graphics card appears to be constantly at 99% usage at all times when simply sitting at the desktop. Is there a way to bring this down to virtually no usage like it should be at?

The display area on my monitor does not extend to the edges. In Windows, I can simply scale it to 0% to overscan in order to completely fill the screen inside the Catalyst Control Center; in Linux, I have been unable to do so with a monitor. Is there any way to scale the display area to completely fill my screen?

Ubuntu Networking :: Port 22:connection Refused With SSH

Dec 21, 2010

having a port 22:connection refused problem with SSH. None of what I have read has been what I have been experiencing, so I figured I would post here. The worst that could happen is this gets completely ignored, or I am told that there is already a solution, that I missed it, and directed to it. Here is my problem:

Just learned how to ssh into my machine a few days ago. Everything has been running smoothly until I ran into a little problem: all of a sudden I can't connect anymore. I have sshd-server installed and updated. I have sshd turned on

Code:
/sbin/service sshd start
And I even ran:

Code:
/etc/init.d/sshd start
Because I was told that it would start ssh from boot. Nothing has changed from today and yesterday and I haven't been having problems with port 22 being blocked.

I have also tried to ssh into the machine by the machine itself:

Code:
ssh <IP of machine>
with the same error.

CentOS 5 :: Ssh: Connect To Host 111.222.33.44 Port 22: Connection Refused

Sep 12, 2010

I have become convinced that rsync for CentOS 5 is broken. I'm trying to set up automatic backups between 2 servers in 2 different countries using rsync under CentOS 5.I can get manual backups to work between the 2 servers by doing two things I shouldn't need to do, but automatic backups fail and I see no solution. Here are the problems I am encountering: According to the instructions I've read everywhere, I am to set up two configuration files:

/etc/rsyncd.conf
/etc/rsyncd.secrets

When I run rsync from root, it apparently just totally ignores these two files. No custom greeting, no log, no password used.
Even when I specify --password-file=/etc/rsyncd.secrets in the command line, it still ignores it. I am prompted and I must enter the password manually. Let me back up a moment. After first installing rsync, when I ran any command to access the root server, I get this error:

ssh: connect to host 111.222.33.44 port 22: Connection refused
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [sender]
rsync error: unexplained error (code 255) at io.c(463) [sender=2.6.8]

I read everywhere that rsync uses port 873, not port 22 which is used for SSH. Why is rsync on CentOS trying to use port 22?I have SSH switched from port 22 to another port (let's call it 5432 here) and block port 22.So, I have added this to the command line:

--rsh='ssh -p5432'

Then I get a connection ...

... but it prompts me for my password. It doesn't matter that I have my username and password, same one, in /etc/rsyncd.secrets on both servers. It still asks. And it rejects my password! The only way I can get it to connect is by creating an SSH user on the remote server for this.Even then, rsync STILL prompts me for a password, even though:

1. the username and password are specified in the /etc/rsyncd.secrets files on both servers

2. I've added the command line parameter --password-file=/etc/rsyncd.secrets Therefore, it is totally impossible to use an any cron job or other automatic synchronization, under CentOS 5.

rsync -av --password-file=/etc/rsyncd.secrets --rsh='ssh -p5432' sourcefiles* rsyncusername@111.222.33.44:httpdocs/rsync
rsync -av --password-file=/etc/rsyncd.secrets --rsh='ssh -p5432' sourcefiles* 111.222.33.44:httpdocs/rsync
rsync -av --verbose --progress --stats --password-file=/etc/rsyncd.secrets --rsh='ssh -p5432' sourcefiles* rsyncusername@111.222.33.44:httpdocs/rsync

Yes, I have made sure that I have the latest rsync. I have run yum update for everything.Yes, I have double checked, triple checked, and quadruple checked my config files.

Fedora Networking :: Ssh: Connect To Host 192.168.1.100 Port 22: Connection Refused

Nov 27, 2010

I have my desktop computer (running F13) configured to accept ssh over port 22 via the firewall configuration tool. If I type ifconfig -a, this computer, which is running on my wireless network, tells me:

Code:

inet addr:192.168.1.100 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

However, if I go to my laptop computer (also running F13) and try and ssh into the desktop, i.e. ssh icthy@192.168.1.100, I get this response:

Code:

ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.100 port 22: Connection refused.

I guess I am confused to what is blocking the connection? Is there another means on F13 other than the default Firewall? I haven't really messed with the network at all. For what it's worth, I am hoping to set things up so I can just ssh into the computer name, (ssh icthy@desktop) eventually, but want to start with the IP. So, can anyone offer a hint as to what I can look for that is blocking port 22?
