View 1 RepliesHow do I clear the ALT+F2 'run a command' history that appears in Ubuntu Natty? The Terminal command I used to use in 10.10 to clear the history no longer works in the new Unity command launcher. I've tried searching within files on my hard drive to see if I can find where the data is stored, but no such luck.

Is there a way to clear the history, maybe disable it altogether or at the very least limit the amount of history it retains?
This is actually for my router, but it's linux based, Anyway, I currently have a router running tomato linux firmware and at 30 minute intervals I have it send a log file of bandwidth usage to a network drive.
From there, a program calculates the bandwidth used by each IP by adding up all the totals recorded in the log files. The log files are the output of the router running the command:
Code:
iptables -L traffic_in -vn
What doesn't happen though, which I'd prefer, is that the bandwidth counts inside the router get cleared upon writing each log file. This way, I don't end up counting the same bandwidth use multiple times. So my question is, is there a way to erase/reset the data count in the iptables?
a few days ago i set my FoxyProxy settings to tor. I needed it to make a few raid boards on 4chan and those can get you banned if you post.
So anyways, i go on this forum about a phone and i accidentally refreshed the page, but i haven't switched from proxy to my default settings and so all of a sudden a message appeared "Sorry, ###### you are banned from this forum."
I tried clearing cache, cookies and whatnot through firefox' options but still i get that message, i installed Midori for a quick test and it seems to work there (I'm not banned) but never on firefox, even rebooted and still nothing.
I really hate the ads with Midori as i use Adblock for firefox.
After several site:centos.org searches on Google and not finding anything remotely related to this question, I ask, how do I update Firefox 3.0 to Firefox 3.5 without losing any of my settings, history, bookmarks ,etc.?

I continue to try and get the back the Firefox I grew to love prior to the 3.0 release. My latest endeavor is to clean-up the Awesome Bar history. I don't understand the reasoning behind the well established "Clear Private Data" tool and the fact that nothing seems to work to clear the Awesome Bar history. Why have the tool if it isn't going to clean the Awesome Bar also. I don't want to get into the merits of the Awesome Bar I just want to clear it when I want to. I have done a lot of searching on this and there doesn't seem to be a real solution. There are many sudo solutions that don't actually clear what the Awesome Bar keeps track of as to merely hide it from view. The most common are the Firefox 2 history bar reincarnations.

OS: Ubuntu 10.4 I performed a routine "apt-get update", which apparently upgraded firefox to 3.6.14. If I start FF from the root account, everything works just fine. However, if I start FF from any normal user account, I get the error message: "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem" Running FF from root does not give the error (but then, who runs FF as root?). I looked at link at [URL] And renamed the places.sqlite to places.sqlite.old as instructed. Same error. So I quit FF and completely wiped out the .mozilla folder.
FF dutifully created a new .mozilla folder, then promptly gave me the exact same error message again. This STRONGLY indicates that it is not a permissions issue (besides, I looked at the permissions and everything in the .mozilla folder is owned by the user with at least rwx------ permissions... Now I give up on this version of FF (3.6.14pre (Namoroka)) and apt-get remove it, then issue apt-get install firefox-3.5. It re-installed apt-get install firefox-3.5... (the /etc/apt/sources.list file is attached).
Is it possible to locate the Firefox file that retains "Search" history (not particularly "Browser" history)?I have lost a hardcopy list of authors and titles of books/ebooks that I search the web for. However, most of the time when I would enter a name or title a drop down list would have that entry I wanted, and I could just click on it. That drop down list is what I am calling "Search" history.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAll of a sudden, Firefox no longer remembers login information. For example, I log into Facebook and tell it to remember me. Then I close Firefox and come back a few hours later and I get prompted to log in again. It's not just Facebook. It happens with this forum, My Yahoo, and others. In Firefox preferences, I have Remember History and Remember Passwords checked. I have not run any kind of cleanup program or cleared my browsing history. This just started happening within the past couple of days.

Code:

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do I get rid of the information that Ubuntu stores for connecting to wireless networks?
I'm asking because I have two wireless networks nearby: my personal network and my school's network. I tried one time to connect to the school's network using the standard prompts but none of them worked - however I could connect to my personal network just fine. The problem is that Ubuntu remembered the incorrect information I entered for my school's network and keeps trying to connect to it.
It's annoying because whenever I'm in range of both networks I keep having to manually tell it to stop connecting to my school's network and to connect to my personal one instead.
Is there any way to clear the list of recent folders when you click Move or Copy on an image in gThumb? It's gotten way too big, so now it's not really helpful at all, with folders I don't even use.
