I'm able to use the following to remove the target directory and recursively all of its subdirectories and contents. find '/target/directory/' -type d -name '*' -print0 | xargs -0 rm -rf
However, I do not want the target directory to be removed. How can I remove just the files in the target, the subdirectories, and their contents?
I've found several posts discussing how to do this in with the terminal, but none exactly fit what I am trying to do. And since I'm still very new, I was hoping for some help.
I have a parent directory called "Music." The subdirectories all start with "artist", some go further as in "artist/album/cd1". So right now the structure varies in the following ways code...

I've got the Apache2 server up and running through yast, and everything works fine as long as I try to point it to the /www/htdocs folder. However, I want to point it at another folder, which is on another partition. This partition is formatted as NTFS, if that matters at all (here's some background on some permissions issues I had with the NTFS partitions recently).
When I change the "Directory" setting in the Yast http server configuration utility to the directory on the NTFS partition I wish to use, attempting to access the server results in the following error:
Code: Access Forbidden: You don't have permission to access the requested directory. There is either no index document or the directory is read-protected. If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

I'm trying to do a sync of the root home directory to a folder call backup and excluding some files.
This is wat i executed:
rsync -a /root/ --exclude-from '/root/rules.txt' /root/backup/
My rules.txt is as below:

Somehow it doesnt read the rules.txt and it will always include the anaconda-ks.cfg file.

It copies all the files over correctly and deletes any files in the "docs" directory that aren't in the sending directory, but it also deletes any files we put in the target directory's parent folder (..dashtdocs or other subfolders like ..dashtdocsimages) even though they've been excluded in the .rsync-filter file.
Here's our current rsync .sh:

So for example server A has ..dashtdocsdocs and ..dashtdocsimages. Server B has ..dashtdocsdocs but if I manually copy the images folder over to ..dashtdocsimages, the images folder gets deleted from the target directory every time rsync runs.
A: ..dashtdocsdocs
..dashtdocsimages
B: ..dashtdocsdocs
..dashtdocsimages (<-- gets deleted everytime rsync runs)
I'd like to keep just the docs directory synched and update other folders manually, but they keep getting deleted. It looks to me like it's running a delete-excluded option, but that option wasn't used.
i have created on folder in my server to upload some regular states. I want that user can modify or upload already stored files. but, should not upload any unwanted files orfolders.for that i want to use "rm" command as auto scheduler (putting this in cron tab.so that all files will be removed except some required files / folders for which this upload facility is activated. users are using secure-shell for uploading data.

My main interest is to find out which files have been changed, and not what the actual changes are, and since a lot of files has been changed, it would be a lot easier to view the file names only. I have .jpg files in many subdirectories from where I need to copy all the images from all the sub directories and paste them to a specific directory.I have used `cp -rf *.jpg media/sik/` which only copies the .jpg files of the directory in which I was working.
