SUSE :: Webmin Virtual Hosts Not Working?
May 8, 2010I'm running vanilla SuSE 11.1 on a vanilla server with Webmin 1.51 and Apache 2.2.
For a month now, I've been trying to get virtual hosts to work with Webmin without success. When I browse for the second site, I continually come up with the default host site.
just forget Webmin and modify the httpd.conf file directly. That defeats the purpose of trying to use Webmin.
OpenSUSE Install :: 11.2 On Virtual Box 3.2 Installation?
May 19, 2010Having messed up my old 11.1 VM I decided to start anew with 11.2 on Virtual Box 3.2. First attempt to install resulted in a crashing (aborted) system after the first reboot (before automatic configuration). Second attempt to install resulted in a GNOME-based system with a weird-looking login screen.
I tried to configure my account for auto-login but was told by the help that GDM or KDM are required for that. So I tried to install GDM (since I was using GNOME) and couldn't find it. I installed KDM instead.
Then I rebooted and found myself at a text mode login prompt (but in runlevel 5). For some reason the system didn't start X and KDM. Otherwise the system seemed healthy:
I logged in and started X (startx) and everything worked perfectly. However, runlevel 5 is supposed to start X and isn't and KDM never showed up. And why couldn't I install GDM? And why is GDM or KDM not part of the default install?

Jul 21, 2010I use Linux with a lot of pleasure almost 6 years... after installing Ubuntu 10.04 Itried to install openSuSE on with Ubuntu prepared partitions, 20GB for / and 120 for /home. I have tried 4 times to install SuSE, but I have each time same problem. Suse installer shows instead 20 and 120GB partitions 16 and 104 GB and insallation was failed with message that PC probably was attacked. Before was installed excellent worked OpenSuSE 10.3. I have no idea. It's PC with AMD 3200 64-bit, 1GB DDR, Nvidia7300SE.

Aug 29, 2010I've installed SuSE 64 11.3 (with updates) as a new installation 4 times because of video driver problems. On the 3rd installation Firefox crashes. I had no difficulties with 11.2 with the same hardware. I followed CAF's suggestion to another user to add it to the repo list and run a zypper install. No difference. I've added no new hardware. I then re-installed SuSE and made no changes to any setting or driver, but again, no Firefox continues to crash.
HARDWARE:
Video card: ATI HD 5870 running I believe at 1920x1200
1366 CPU 2.8 GHz
MB: Asus P6X58D Premium
Ram: 6 gb

Sep 6, 2010Has anyone gotten XP Mode to work in Win 7- while Win 7 is running in VBox? Everything installs seemingly error free- XP Mode, and the two updates. I then start Win XP Mode. The computer goes through 25 minutes or so of setting up XP mode for 'first use'. At the end, a message appears: "Could not complete setup. Please try again". In Win7, I've removed XP Mode from Programs and Features, and reinstalled. No change.

Mar 12, 2011I've tried installing Graphite One under my new clean Suse 11.4 64-bit installation. graphite one apparently needs python 2.6 to install and suse 11.4 comes with 2.7. I hope I can just create symbolic links to satisfy the installer to run? I've tried to make 2.6 links under /usr/bin and /usr/lib64. I'm using

to create the links, but I've sort of lost track of all the python library�s (.so .so.1 .so.1.0 and so on). Furthermore I have no idea about how to verify if it is correct.

Aug 11, 2011i'm trying to create a database with the mysql that came with the suse installation, my problem is that i can't get mysqladmin to work it spits out this: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! So I'm stuck at square one php info() seems ok with the installation and the installed client connects to my remote DB ok. I checked the server with ps -ef | grep mysqld and I get the following:

Nov 18, 2009After successfull installation of Suse 11.2 and reboot i get a Blackscreen. When i try to start with "init 3" its still the same problem, Error Message in Bootlist
"Failed to get NUMA Memory Information from." Suse stops loading after "HAL DAEMON - DONE" and gets a blackscreen. If got a Nvidia Gforce 9400GT Graphic Card, and a Athlon 2 x2 Processor. I loaded the DVD with Bittorrent and Checksume and Burning are o.k/successfull. I also tried to reinstall with ext3 but still the same problem. Are there any known issues/solutions for this Problem?

Mar 17, 2009I have a quad cpu with 8gb ram running SUSE 10 sp2 on a raid 5 XEN host server. I have created a 250 gb partition GWMAIL in the extended partition to be the disk space for the first virtual machine OES sp1 with groupwise 8.0. I have downloaded the OS .iso's to the desktop of the host server to use for installation. When I begin to install, it hangs for 5 to 10 minutes then gives me an out of space error.

Jan 22, 2010I did an installation of SUSE 11.2 on a new SCSI hard drive. Keeping the old hard drive separate. I remembered there was some info on the old hard drive I wanted.
I added this to the system and mounted a partition. I then copied the data over. Then I umounted the partition rebooted the machine and removed the hard drive. However the machine will now not boot without this hard drive even though its not mounted. Not sure what the error message im given means I think it could be trying to fchk it.Do I need to do something more like remove /dev/sdd ?

Jun 8, 2010i have windows 7 installed on my laptop and working fine..i want to install Open Suse 11.2 along side. I tried installing by booting with DVD for Suse. But it gave me warning to delete the windows partition.I would like to keep the partition intact with windows 7 and install Suse. Any suggestions ?I can create partition on my laptop but i do not want to modify the current windows structure.

OpenSUSE Install :: Cannot Start Windows Vista After Failed Suse Installation
Feb 7, 2010I wanted to try openSuse alongside with Windows Vista and Ubuntu. During the installation Suse wanted to delete my Windows partition. Of course I denied and stopped this installation, but now when starting my computer, the boot menu gives Vista, Ubuntu and Suse as a choice, but if I choose Vista, the Suse installation process is starting instead of Windows, there is no way to get Windows started (fortunately Ubuntu is working so that I can write this message).How can I get Windows starting?

When I try to boot from the DVD it just logs in to Win2008 though boot from CD/DVD is enabled in the boot sequence. So i tried to mount the ISO and run from Windows ! BUT I get an error before installation starts telling that Win2008 R2 is not supported in open suse installer! Is there anything I can do to overcome this and install/retain both OS? In fact I am even trying to c hange my win2008 from R2 to Enterprise to see if I can overcome the problem!

Jan 10, 2011I am trying to install a 11.3 virtual machine through Xen on a 11.3 installation. I am trying to install from the opensuse DVD. I get to this point, setting up everything (I can only do paravirtualization) Then the DVD spins for a little while and after that I am returned this error message "device 0 vif could not be connected opensuse....."
I tried a bunch of different settings in the previous screen and I always end up with this error I googled around and it seem to be a problem in different distros but I could not spot a solution at all

Aug 23, 2009I have spent considerable hours searching forums and googling. I have yet to find out what "lm-sensors acpitz-virtual-0 Adapter: Virtual device temp1:" is actually looking at. I have an Abit IP35 motherboard with Ubuntu 9.04 installed.
Here is the output from sensors:
Virtual Device Temp 1 keeps going up to 121 degrees and the computer shuts down. None of the others overheat. Also, my bios does not show my voltages to be set like it lists above. The bios in the motherboard is the latest from Abit.

Aug 25, 2009When I create virtual ethernet interface and do a ping -I <v_int> <host> the outgoing address is the one of the physical interface and NOT the virtual interface.Is there no chance that trafic will go out with virtual interface address??Incoming trafic is done well i.e. responds to the virtual interface have the virtual address.
My problem is that I have 2 modems and want to check both default gw behind the modems.
If I do a "normal" ping both are reachable over default route even the modem which is not the default route will not work because ping goes over the working modem.So I have 2 routing tables and want to route the virtual interface to one modem the other to the other modem
