Programming :: Change Directory In System With Java?

I am trying to run the configure command to install a package in linux with Java. Now my workspace location of Eclipse project is /home/user/Workspace/projectx. The source package say zebra is located in /project/test/zebra. Now there is a configure script which I want to run using java and all the outout files will also be created in /project/test/zebra.
Now in Java the code I am using runs the configure command but all the files it creates in current workspace of project which is in /home/user/Workspace/projectx directory.
Now as I tried to do 'cd' command but as it's internal command of linux so it doesn't work and I don't know how to make it work. code...

I am trying to ptrace a process and when the system call is 'cd' change directory,
the ptrace process is able to trap it by comparing it against "__NR__open" system call. When I try to read the name of the directory from ebx register using peek_data I am getting ".message" and not the directory name.
The same thing works fine when I am tracing a file open system call.

I want to modify the source of cd (the 'change directory' command) to do a little extra for me, but I can't seem to find the source code anywhere.. maybe I didn't look for it well enough, and googling "source code cd" and variants of that doesn't exactly help... I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find the src?

Directories(-entries) are in a EXT2 file system
managed in a singly linked list.
Delete files in the directory causes Gaps or holes to appear in
the linked list of the directory. How does a C-source code look like,
which would reorganize this list and remove the gaps or Holes.

due to an exercise in Operating Systems I have to do the following: There are 6 users, user1, user2 ... user6 with home directories /users/user1 ... users/user6. User1 to user3 belong to group1, user4 to user6 belong to group2. The System Administrator wants to change the privilege* only to users 1, 2 and 3 to execute the file /bin/xxx. Which are the commands he has to type in order to achieve the previous?*I'm not sure if this is the right translation. What I have come till now is: Code: $ chgrp group1 <name_of_file> but it seems too simple to be right.

tasks of an administrative level that we can use Shell Script to automate them. It's a kind of homework for me to figure out how to automate those tasks. Using PHP and Shell Script design and develop a Web Interface to change or set the IP Address and Subnet Mask of the UNIX / Linux System. The related services must be restarted automatically for the new IP Address and Subnet Mask to take effect. No user name and password should be asked for when using that Web Interface. How would you do it?

I am trying to use "find" but I can't quite get all of the switches right for it to work. I have a folder that contains many folders. Let's call that original folder "MyFiles". The subfolders contain java files (and those subfolders possibly contain subfolders that contain java files). Here is what I want to have happen:
0. Create a file to print to, call it "output.ps"
1. Find all of the Java files in the MyFiles tree.
2. For each java file that is found, append it to output.ps along with it's absolute path name.
So far I have:
find . -iname *.java
and this finds all of the java files for me. But then I can't get the files to print to a file using exec.

see the released of Mozilla Firefox 3.6. However, it seems that Firefox 3.6 does not like current OpenJDK Java plugin installed by Fedora 12. (IT SUPPORTS NOW SEE SOLUTION BELOW) A little google turned out that in this release Firefox dropped the old Open Java Integration mechanism, which is currently being used by OpenJDK Java plugin. [Code] Now I have to manually install the JRE from Sun to get Java plugin in Firefox 3.6.
Is there any plan for OpenJDK to catch up with this change of Java plugin? I hope the Firefox 3.6 shipped with Fedora 13 could have OpenJDK Java plugin support.
Yes, OpenJDK did have plan for the new java plugin. Actually it arrived with IcedTea B17 (Alpha version, of course). However, the new plugin support is only enabled in Fedora 13 build config. Now our task is simple, upgrade the OpenJDK to Fedora 13 build in rawhide, like what we have done to Firefox.
[Code]....
Reboot your Firefox 3.6 and it's done. I have tested with Citrix java client and RuneScape. Citix works fine, but the RuneScape crashed with my Compiz. Switch off Compiz and the RuneScape works fine, too. It is not a big deal for me since I do not play RuneScape. So basically it WORKS.

I have set up an HP 5M networked printer. The test page works fine, and the defaults are all set correctly. But when I try to print from my own java programs, the paper size is set to letter, and the margins are all set to 2.54 mm. I can change the paper size to A4 (but I have to do it EVERY time). And the margins won't even let me change them. I type in 0, click in the next field, and the value changes straight back to 2.54. It has been this way for at least the last two releases of Ubuntu.

The code listed below is an excerpt from a script that I am writing. The goal is to verify that a directory on a remote server is available to the local system. If that is not the case, a log file is written, and all filesystems that were previous unmounted, are remounted on the local system.
Code:
# # Unmount all NFS mounts prior to the archive process.
umount -a -t nfs
# Mount the remote directory (NFS) prior to running the make_net_recovery script.
# Make sure there is a <remote server> folder located in the /mnt directory. If it is
# not already there, create one.
mount <remote server>:/<local system> /mnt/<remote server>
# Verify the remote directory (NFS) is available. This directory is needed
# as it is the destination for the iso images. If it is not available, stop
# here, and write the results to a log file.
df |grep <remote server> > /dev/null
RC=$?
echo $RC
if [ ${RC} -eq 0 ]
then
echo successful
else
echo not successful >> /tmp/make_net_backup.log && mount -a
exit
fi
Is the syntax shown above correct?

Situation: this semester I took an class called Introduction to Software Design with Java.It was my first intro to programming. The class had a very odd structure:1. The text was extremely high level. The first few chapters were all about object oriented programming, how objects interact, all about specification, etc (without ever talking about implementation).2. The lecture simply followed (directly) the text. And as a result was rather uninteresting.3. While highly theoretical (in that it was very high level approach), we never talked about how the computer was dealing with the information, etc.as all very "hand waving/magic" approach.
Okay so enough of the complaints:Question: This summer I'd like to dive a bit more into a language mainly out of frustration and lack of a good book. I'm thinking perhaps a lower level language.1. Would C++ be a good second language? Or should I give Java more time?2. If I am going to go with something else, is C++ sufficiently different, or should I go with C
