Since I upgraded to openSUSE 11.3 the Encrypt option no longer shows up when I right click on a file. How do I get it back? GnuPG2 shows to be installed. I can decrypt files by double clicking on them and entering the passphrase.
I want to upgrade my ubuntu 9.10 to 10.04..i have downloaded .iso CD image of ubuntu 10.04 LTS and have mounted it using nautilus script to CD-ROM..Now i want to upgrade my ubuntu installation from that CD
I was transferring data from one computer to my laptop and crash error came up on my laptop...
Error 1:
Nautilus-2.32.0-1.fc14 Reason: Process/usr/bin/nautilus was killed by signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Error 2:
Openoffice.Org-Brand Crash
Reason: Process/usr/lib/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin was killed by signal (SIGABRT)
What could be the problem? Is it serious issue? I have been having security issues with Windows and are those issues begun once again? I have been under targeted attack since 2005.
Is it possible to change my current nautilus window to have sudo capabilities,? e.g. to delete locked files. It may be lazy but if it takes a lot of navigation then it would be handy to somehow activate sudo from the open window without the terminal command (gksudo nautilus) which always begins at root.
I attempted to install Nautilus Elementary...the results were not what I expected however. First of all, it doesn't seem to even have installed correctly, but thats not the main issue...after installing, Nautilus looks like this...
I've added a new Nautilus action and I'd like to use another icon that those provided in the nautilus item con list (see attachment).
But whatever image I try (some PNG or even SVG files) I can't get them to be displayed. It seems there is a very special format, size, type to match the Gnome/GTK+/Nautilus icon requirements...
Does anyone know how I can move the location bar in nautilus up by the toolbar, as shown by this pic: http://i39.tinypic.com/2qdsyll.jpg
I'd rather not have to download the source of nautilus and edit the code / compile it myself.
By the way, a guy on Ubuntu Forums thought this was a mockup. It's not. It's the regular version of Nautilus, only I removed some toolbar buttons through the /usr/share/nautilus/ui xml files.
I just want the location bar next to the toolbar to conserve screen space, and be a bit more like Finder.
There's an Ubuntu variant of Nautilus called Elementary Nautilus which aims for a tighter and sleeker Nautilus as opposed to the stock GNOME one.The modified one is really good, sleek and has RGBA (transparency support) through Metacity compositing enabled.I've created a set of RPMs and they should be building on OBS anytime now. Wanted to get the community's opinion on this modified nautilus build. Screenshots follow...
After running zypper dup, when i log into gnome i get an error.. I think it's because of nautilus, after i tryed to run it from kde i get this error code...
I mean, cmn, i just finished setting up everything the way i want to and wanted to upgrade to latest gnome and then this.. Any ideas how to fix it?
When i'm trying to open Nautilus as su (or by gksu nautilus or sudo nautilus) i'm getting an enormous sermon in the terminal window, nautilus then starts never the less but crashes immediately when i'm trying to change settings Some of the errors are:(nautilus:13324): Nautilus-GDU-WARNING **: unable to query info(nautilus:13387): Eel-WARNING **: GConf-FehlerAnd then i'm reading (translating here from german) that a cause for the GConf error might be there's something missing between TCP/IP and Orbit. Out of any idea for that as for the rest as well
I tried to search about this from google and opensuse forums but didn't find any help, so I'm starting this topic.I just updated to OpenSUSE 11.1 with newest gnome and default kernel. The problem is, I don't have video thumbnails any more in nautilus. If I recall correctly, in 11.0 I had them with totem-xine, but now I can't find it in any repos. Added some additional repositories, but still nothing.
If there is not totem-xine available, how to get video thumbnails, I mean like generating automatically every time I open a folder with video files in it.
I was wondering if there is a way to make Nautilus scroll up when opening folders. If I open a folder at the bottom of the page, the subfolders open below and I have to use the scroll bar to move down the page to see what's under the top folder. I would like to have it put the opened folder at the top of the page so I can see as many subfolders and files as possible without having to scroll. Something like the file roller when you are looking for a place to extract files. It does exactly what I'm looking for. Are there any settings I can change in Nautilus that would provide this function?
The reason why I'm asking help here is because I'm being continuously ignored in #opensuse-irc-channel in freenode. I updated from 11.2 to 11.3 couple of days ago. I have always used gnome and loved it. Update from 11.1 to 11.2 didn't bring any problems and neither did from 11.2 to 11.3. Update went fine, no errors whatsoever occurred. Of course I had some problems with nvidia drivers and it was hard to get dual screen to work, but I managed. After that I figured out that nautilus is missing, because my desktop was empty and no right clicks worked. So I tried to run it from command line to see what it prints out:
Code:
[03:39:33] peikko ~ $ nautilus
nautilus: symbol lookup error: nautilus: undefined symbol: nautilus_file_info_getter In irc they said me before that I have mixed packages or something. I don't know what's the case but my nautilus just won't work. I ran "zypper dup" and synced the packages, and after reboot I figured maybe nautilus from 11.2 would work, so I one-click-installed it from software.opensuse.org/search without adding the repo of course. And for some reason it worked, maybe because I had zypper dupped before.
Being happily using my computers couple of days I noticed video thumbnails don't work any longer, so I killed nautilus. And duh, it didn't start again. I reinstalled nautilus from 11.2, and it looked like this:[URL] I decided to update it back, and live without nautilus until I find the solution. This is also my server, so reinstalling the system is not an option because I have all those confs and I don't have hard drive for backuping. I also tried again zypper dup from official repo with no joy. I also tried zypper dup & reboot from couple of other repos, like gnome latest for opensuse 11.3, but nothing changed.
openSUSE 11.3 with GNOME. Every time I try to open up the trash, it gives me an "operation not supported" error, and starting nautilus from the terminal doesn't give me any output. I've tried removing the ~/.local/share/Trash and ~/.nautilus folders for both my main user and root and restarting nautilus, all to no avail.
Also, nothing in nautilus that starts with protocol:// works, like network or burn (or trash).
My only lead so far is that I messed up something in the glib runtime, since I've been working on a project that depends on a lot of GNOME and glib libraries, and have compiled a few from source. But since I can't find any sort of log from nautilus, I have no idea what the cause actually is.
I am using OpenSUSE 11.3 with GNOME "attached". My problem is that Nautilus has become a burden for me and my simple needs. I often encounter a slow responsiveness (lag) and a slow speed browsing throughout folders/files. I have installed Dolphin and i wish to set it up as my default File Manager.
I am not able to run nautilus as a root userA error message saying - Could not parse arguments. Cannot open displayHow do i find which version is my gnome??
I'm using openSUSE 11.2 with GNOME dual-booted with Windows 7, been installed from scratch for like a week. The bottom line is: Nautilus displays a series of matrices, "x"s and other symbols instead of characters in Hebrew.
Screenshot:
Now, it worked fine at the beginning but once I started installing updates it went. I installed a whole bunch of updates and programs so I don't know what changed it. The weird part is (as you can see in the screenshot) that the shortcut to the left of a Hebrew-named folder shows up correctly only the first time Nautilus opens after starting. So as soon as I closed the Nautilus window after taking the screenshot and reopened it, it also displayed like the others. The screenshot is of my ntfs Windows drive, however the problem occurs in my home folder as well.
trying to set permissions on all subfolders by right clicking the top folder, permissions, setting the desired values, and then clicking the "Apply permissions to the enclosed files. It takes on the top Folder but not on any of the subfolders or their files. How can I set the permissions for all files and subfolders under a top level folder?
I close Nautilus and it pops open again and always to the folder "media". The only thing I had in the media was a CDROM, which I unmounted and that made no difference. I then removed the CD from the CDROM drive and that made no difference. Any ideas why opensuse 11.2 would insist on keeping a Nautilus window open all the time -- defaulting the "/media" folder on initial opening?
Like with OS 11.3 I used Yast software manager to install "nautilus-search-tool" extension to put "search for files" on the context menu of folders. But nothing works, extension doesn't appear on context menu. Is it a bug to be resolved or is there any special issue about?
I would like to know i can i have my partitions shown in Nautilus and gnome-panel. In openSuse 11.3 they appear automatically but now in 11.4 they don't...
i want to upgrade to 11.2, however, i am very cautious about losing my files. there are files on this system which i absolutely can not afford to lose, and they are only on this system. which method of upgrade will be the best, best as in safest.
today I've tried to activate nautilus-converter-image package. due to some package's requirement I've thougth download last release about glib, pango and nautilus... trying install them I've got some errors (here, I've also give an ldconfig command) so at the end I've resigned and decided didn't install nautilus-converter-image. Thinking about replace original package I've reinstall the original. but after reboot when I clik "computer" o "network" icons in nautilus I get an error message like this.(translating) <Nautilus can't handle place "Computer" or "network">
Also I've seen when insert a media usb storage, I can't see in nautilus that device mounted, and also in /media is not present...Ok I know I has been too much superficial... but now It's really annoying problem..
I put a cd or dvd in and i get this error message "Unable to mount ..... Authentication is required" What's going on? i used to be able to do this no problems
I have recently disabled nautilus from showing up on my desktop. Now I can't seem to start nautilus. Starting it from gnome-terminal doesn't display anything, and it never shows, and it never terminates. The way I disabled nautilus from showing up on my desktop was by following Xmonad/Using xmonad in Gnome - HaskellWiki
