I'm looking for a way to copy and archive 10 years worth of message history from a Yahoo Group. With some changes in the yahoo group format coming in the future my group has concerns. I can copy a page at a time but it is not practical. how to go about it. I'm nearly clueless and am told that it can't be done.

However, when I deleted the Twitter account from Gwibber, the messages I previously downloaded are still in the main window. I've checked for ".gwibber" in the home folder, but there's not one. So, I did a search on the machine for all Gwibber folders, and none had any message history in it.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been having a problem with K9 Copy whenever I try to convert a DVD to MPEG files using the method without encoding, but for some reason lately it seems to be splitting each episode I am trying to rip into about 6 or 7 pieces instead of just one.
I never usually have a problem with this, but for some reason it seems to be doing this whenever I try to rip something. I am running on Obuntu 9.10 and have K9Copy version 2.3.0 installed. I have tried installing several other versions, but it does the same thing with each.
Is it possible to use the keyboard in order to select some text in the terminal windows that is not in the currently edited line? (for example, in order to copy part of previous command output).

Unfortunately the installation progress stops in 88% and the message error says "error copy live image to the disk". I have burn two different cd but the result is always the same.Is it a hardware problem or the cd is not correct?I had the 11.2 version in the same pc without any problem for a long time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there a method at the command line to copy files from one location to another and retain the source files group and user?I'm migrating some MySQL files from one machine to another.I want to back-up the original files in the directory presently. They have owner:group of mysql, some have owner:group root:mysql and so on. To copy them under cli or Nautilus everything changes to root for I execute sudo cp or gksudo nautilus and copy via gui.
Since it is MySQL data I could simply do a dump of the database and restore it on the other machine. But there's about 20 db's and I want to do this via a copy for it will be faster - at least that is what I think.
I'm rearranging a bunch of disks on my server at home and I find myself in the position of wanting to move a bunch of LVM logical volumes to another volume group. Is there a simple way to do this? I saw mention of a cplv command but this seems to be either old or not something that was ever available for linux.

The problem is when they are trying to copy any files and directories they are getting the following error: "Message reported from the file system: FTP copy not supported,use move instead"
I've checked all the permissions and they are all OK. I don't know why this is happening. they can create and move files and folders but can't copy files and folders.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 11.4 firefox and flash to get rid of an apparent flash problem. Before the packman online upgrade, the event pulldown on yahoo finance didn't work. It behaves the same after the upgrade. I noticed on this site, I couldn't click the cursor into the simple search window. So from openSuse, firefox is third party, adobe is fourth party and yahoo is fifth party. Who owns this problem? The rest of my system is KDE 4.6.0 on HW 686 - 32 bit.

I just heard about the newly developed input method IBUS (ibus - Project Hosting on Google Code) the other day. Supposedly, it fixes a number of problems of SCIM (which, unfortunately, is pretty much dead upstream), and both Ubuntu and Fedora are moving toward making IBUS the standard input on their systems.
Interestingly, there's nothing on the openSUSE forums yet, so this thread is supposed to fill the void and become, eventually, a how-to guide for running IBUS on openSUSE 11.2. I've tried to get IBUS running the past few days, but without succcess so far. Perhaps some of you how got it up and running already can help me out?

The IBUS website also mentions the repository Index of /repositories/home:/swyear for openSUSE, but as far as I can see, the IBUS files don't exist there anymore.
updating 10.2 to 11.1 method?
This is the dual booting IBM lap top with windows XP and has been working well for over 4 years.
I would like to install 11.1 as 10.2 is not supported and I have two other machines using 11.1.
I have all the data on suse 10.2 backed up, so it is just the procedure of installation without loosing XP
I have been trying to figure out how to keep my company's email from being treated as junk mail by Hotmail, Yahoo & Gmail for over a year.
When I acquired the company its email was hosted by sina.com as its in China. It was being run under a windows server and had issues sending & receiving.
I moved it to a linux server system in Hong Kong that has a US co-host site in Chicago area thinking its got to better than whats running in China.
We are still having problems sending emails to hotmail, yahoo and gmail.
My entire company is about ready to redmond our company email and use their personal webmail accounts.
Make sure you have the Sun VirtualBox repository installed and enabled.
If not, you can download this file [URL] and copy it in the directory /etc/zypp/repos.d on your system.
refresh this repository (only needed if autorefresh is turned off for this repo)

upgrade to the latest Sun VirtualBox

I just switched back from Mint 10, and while setting to work different input method apps like SCIM and Ibus, bumped into a problem(welcome back to SUSE). After installing Scim, my chinese input works only on one application (Goldendict), it doesn't work in any other app. So I tried Ibus, same result. SO far nothing helped me to make them work. What I 'm trying to find out. Is where I can setup language input method in SUSE, I haven't found such an option anywhere in KDE, yast. WHile in Mint there is such an option, where you can change your inpud method either to scim, xim, scim-bridge or ibus. I tried qtconfig, there I found it, P.S. Warning rage words!: I feel like I should say it. But my previous SUSE experience and overall usage history proves that there is no better distro than Ubuntu nowadays, this is sad indeed, cause I used to start from SUSE. But its true, SUSE is a real pain in the ***, when it comes to getting things done. It seems like whenever u try to setup something there is always a bad feeling of failure. Don't know, but again I'm been consecutively annoyed but its numbness. I'm sorry, cause I feel like I disregard ppl's hard work and support.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am currently considering migrating an openSUSE X86-64 system from 11.3 to 11.4. There seem to be 2 possibilities, upgrade or reinstall. Opinion seems to be divided on the process of upgrading from the DVD.I have not been able to find any reasonable guide to using either method to migrate an 11.3 system to 11.4 and have the 11.4 system in the same working state as the 11.3 system was. What I have found for the reinstall method is trivial. for the upgrade method I have seen a reference to running rcrpmconfigcheck but I have been unable to find a man page for it on my 11.3 system or via google.
Does such a guide exist? It should be created by the openSUSE project for each release.If it works the upgrade process looks to be the best method. The last 2 migrations were via the install method. 10 to 11 but also 32 to 64 bit and then 11.1 to 11.3 onto a new machine before moving the data across. Both rebuilds took many days.I have seen many posts saying that it is very quick to rebuild the system. As little as 2 hours has been quoted. I have not yet seen an explanation of how they do it. I suspect that they rebuild systems regularly and have it all scripted or their systems are very simple. An explanation of how it is done would be interesting.Given that I do migrations once or twice a year, building and testing a script to do the migration is probably not worth the effort especially as the only test machine is very old and slow

I have a text file that currently has around 150 000 usernames in it. I need to somehow group them into smaller groups of 1000 and then add that value into the DB. for example user xzy group 1 (hopefully the groups will be digits incrementing)
