View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to build an RPM today and the compilation errored out because the file glibconfig.h couldn't be found. I managed to track it down to the package glib2-devel.The problem is that I couldn't find a way to do this via zypper. In Mandriva I would've just done 'urpmf glibconfig.h' and it would've told me that it's provided by the package glib2-devel.
Is there equivalent functionality in zypper? (glibconfig.h is an easy pick as being related to glib, but some header file names might be more obscure for example)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI stopped using ubuntu for a while at 9.04 (went to mint and came back) because it was not installing properly. I thought it had aptitude in it then, but I did not have it after installing 10.10 (installed it twice it is not on either). I am just wondering why, even debian includes aptitude.
View 3 Replies View Relatedafter looking at this thread [URL]... i found out that my printer is no longer working with the latest CUPS package (in -Current). I tried to delete the printer and re-adding it again with the same driver, but it failed with an error message: Bad device-uri "cnij_usb:/dev/usb/lp0"! I have tried to use the driver provided by Canon or by the automatic detection by CUPS, but it ended with the same results

Up until recently I have had no problem playing all kinds of video in Ubuntu. I recently upgraded to Lucid and I can't remember if I was able to play videos after that, but yesterday I found that I am unable to play flv or MP4 videos in either totem or vlc. Converting them to ogv using ffmpeg allows them to play just fine, and I can edit the flv and mp4 in Avidemux, so there is nothing wrong with the files themselves. Not sure what I've done, can't seem to find a bug in launchpad for this, so I am assuming it is a problem with my setup somehow.

View 4 Replies View RelatedOn my 32-bit 10.04 system, I'm trying to run a tcl script that uses tk ("package require Tk") but I'm always getting this error:
can't find package Tk
while executing
"package require Tk"
tcl version is 8.5 whilst tk is 8.4.16-2 and tklib is 0.5-2. It seems that tcl is not able to find tklib so I wonder if there is a way to tell tll where to find the package.
It's been awhile since last dealt with Debian.

I am not able to find following packages:
1.libc6-dev-i386
2.lib32ncurses-dev
3.ia32-libs
4.lib32z-dev
5.lib32readlines-dev
Does any one know if package names have been changed?
I couldn't find an amd64 version of the package I wanted, so I forced the architecture on the i386 version I found. (The package in question is xinput-calibrator, so that I can finally get my touchscreen to work.) I later found and added the repository that has the 64 version and tried to install it. It won't install the 64 version because I already have the i386 version. But it also won't let me remove the i386 version.
