I have no problem connecting it manually but when I tried to connect automatically upon booting up the multimedia I have to wait for the wireless to be connected before attempting to mount the NFS file system on the media box.Now I am sure that this can be easily implemented using a script however I do not have much experience with that. I am not sure about the syntax for the loop statement. I know what is required for the mount and other stuff. Is the use of the ping a good idea. It takes about 2 second for the ping to return when fails so after 40 to 60 sec it should stop.

There is guidance provided here, on how openSUSE-11.2 users will be able to add the option of the KDE-3.5.10 desktop to their openSUSE-11.2: KDE3 - openSUSE (after 11.2 is installed). Presumeably this is intended for openSUSE-11.2 KDE-4.3.1 users (as opposed to Gnome users? - I don't know). Also, as noted in that wiki, the KDE:KDE3 repository is currently unmaintained and may not even update and build correctly. SuSE-GmbH also do not accept any bugreports for it. Use at your own risk. They are also looking for volunteers in (helping) maintaining the KDE3 repository for openSUSE.

I have a new install of an OpenSuse 11.3 server and I do not see the IPSec Support option when I use Yast to set that I up. I have the firewall setup with 2 interfaces, one external and one internal and that is all working fine. When I connect via my laptop and connect in via a Cisco IPSec VPN, I get connected, but no traffic goes through.
I did search through the forums, but I don't see any hits related to the issue I'm facing. I installed the ipsec-tools, but I am still not seeing the IPSec Support in the firewall section of Yast that I see noted on many Google Searches. Is there a package or something configuration that is needed to get IPSec Support for VPN setup?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a KDE fan, but I installed GNOME 3 to give it a test drive. I like some aspects, but I don't care for all the clutter in the menu, in the form of KDE apps that duplicate the functions of native GNOME apps. So I just opened alacarte and un-checked all those KDE apps. Simple, cleaned up the menu beautifully. Then I booted into my main environment, right-clicked on my launcher to open its editor and delete the GNOME apps. All of my KDE apps were gone!
Deleting GNOME apps from KDE works fine: They stay gone in KDE but they're still present in GNOME. The reverse is not true. Is there a better way than what I tried? Besides installing a GNOME distro in a vbox; I tried that and found it too sluggish. I could also replicate a menu structure on a dock (Cairo), but I thought I'd check with the experts first in case there's a less clunky approach.

Kmail is crashing on me when trying to create a new filter. Both ways it crashes:
1) Right click on message -> Create Filter -> Filter on From
2) Settings -> Configure Filters.

I'm running Thunderbird 3.0.6 on openSUSE 11.2 (x86_64). When I add a message filter rule, it disappears upon restart. This behavior is reproducible at all times. I suspected a write permission issue, but I checked permissions for the file msgFilterRules.dat and it is rwx for the owner.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt my work, we have an ISP that provides us with 2 connections with different IP addresses but at the moment they don't switch automatically if one fails, and can only work for outbound traffic.I tried to automate this with floating routing table on a CISCO 1711 router but then switching to the second link only happens when there's no longer a signal on the cable that's plugged into the router's interface directly -- and the failure most often happens somewhere in the middle. And that also does not make us available from outside.
Can anyone suggest a better way? Maybe an outside DNS server can have a second IP address recorded for our domain name?I found somewhere suggestions that a loadbalancer could solve that but these appliances are way too expensive.I also thought about using BGP but my router's RAM (128MB) is too small for the global routing table that BGP requires. And I also need an ISP (or better 2 ISPs) that provide BGP service. Before trying to convince others that we need to invest more into this, I'd like to know whether there are no easier ways.

When I try to ping with the terminal to check a website's availability, it always just keeps going on and on and on... How do I get it to stop after a set amount of pings? Is there some type of command?

View 3 Replies View Relateddoes Network Manager in Fedora 15 support bridging and if so, can you configure the bridge using your wireless interface? All of the information I've come across so far said that you can NOT create a bridge using a wireless interface, and that Network Manager doesn't support bridging, but this info was also from Fedora 12 and below, so I don't know if it's still relevant for Fedora 15. I would certainly hope that by now you can make a bridge from a wireless interface. Even the lowly VMware Player offers this option.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy work uses a proxy server to mediate connections to the internet. However, changing the proxy settings in NetworkManager seems to have no effect. When I change the proxy settings in firefox from "use system proxy" to the actual proxy settings then it connects fine - but I would much rather be able to change the system proxy so that it works with all applications.
This is not confined to firefox - I have the same problem trying to use wget in gnome shell. However ftp works fine. I have just looked at the environment variables and it appears that NetworkManager is not setting the http_proxy variable (it is however setting ftp_proxy and https_proxy).
