OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Hp Mini 110-3000 Mic Not Working?

I've managed to install openSuse 11.4, and have also managed to get the sound working properly, but the mic doesn't seem to be working.
My system is a hp mini 110 3000 netbook which came pre installed with windows 7. I'd install ubuntu on this before switching to openSuse, and in ubuntu the mic was working.
Also, I can't get bluetooth and the sd card reader working. I've got the ath9k driver installed, and WLAN works perfectly on that, but bluetooth doesn't.
I recently installed openSUSE on a new Toshiba and i'm getting very choppy video while watching videos on ....., justin.tv, etc. The video is fine as long as I don't full screen. However, when I try to fullscreen a stream on justin.tv or a ..... video, it instantly becomes choppy and video is extremely delayed in relation to the sound. The sound still continues at it's regular pace, however the video lags behind and is just choppy in general.Also, not sure if this helps, but i'm running an i3 2310M.
i love linux, everything 'bout it, and i'll gladly switch to it, but I have only one little problem. On windows i usually watch tv on my computer (and i play my xbox 360 too ) using a LifeView 3000 TvTuner.
Video is ok, but never any sound. I went through and made sure the HDMI is selected as the audio device and I upgraded to the latest driver binary.
HDMI sound works without the ATI proprietary driver installed, but the needed resolution is not available and the picture overlaps the edges on my 32" LCD. At least I know it is not a hardware issue. ALSA is loaded and selected as the sound manager, but the volume controls don't appear in the ALSA slider console.
I tested the cable and display on another computer. I am using a new Gigabyte GA-MA78LM-SH2, it is the integrated video.
I have Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 with this card, its just works without any configuration but I have a big problem.
I start Kaffeine 1.0-svn3 and I can see the last dvb-T channel but when I want to change to other channel I can't see it, I have to restart Kaffeine, or wait to get the "Read error from:" error press Ok and select the channel.
Have very recently installed Open S on my PC. As it's all really new 2 me have been strugling a bit to get things to work @ first. Now it's much better but my bleeping scanner won't work for love or money, apparently the Linux driver ( or should I say backend) for the thing has not been created. Its CanoScan 3000 and I still have the discs with Windows setup. Is there any way to get that thing work under Linux or should I get another scanner? Obviously, me writing the backend, is not really a very realistic option.

Unfortunately, it looks like I need to type in these lines every time I restart skype. Is there a way to automate the process, so that when I start my computer it executes the code before starting skype?
What this code does? I find it difficult to run commands without knowing what they do. Do you have to be a programmer to know about these commands or should everyone who uses suse know about that.
I am trying to get the wireless lan to work on a Lenovo 3000 n100. Currently the light does not come on and the card does not work. Im running the latest Debian version, 6.0 on my Dell Mini 9.Webcam and sound work, but microphone is a no-go.In Alsamixer (1.0.23), I have Capture, Digital, and Mic settings all the way up. There are no options for adjusting "Front" mic settings. (May have been for older alsamixer versions?)In Sound Recorder, playback has loud noise/feedback? I'm not sure how to interpret the above, but I am just trying to offer as much relevant background information as I can.I've been scouring forums for the answer, but to no avail. after installing linuxmint lxde on my netbook the microphone wasnt working i followed the guide here [URL] and now nothing audio related is working, when i open alsa mixer it is completly blank, i dont even have the little speaker icon in the corner anymore. I would like to get all audio working with the microphone but priority right now would be getting back to were i started upon doing that modprobe command thingy the device does show up... also upon following that guide it made a folder in my home directory called soundtmp... and it wont let me delete it, how can i delete it?
I am having a hard time finding a descriptive solution on how to fix the sound on my HP Mini 110-3135DX. I just got it and put Ubuntu on it. "how to fix the sound for dummies".
Long term Fedora user, I have recently decided to set up a small shuttle computer as a media centre (using mythTV), data store/NAS (so all my data is centralized), mini web server, etc. After installing I had the fun of trying to get my audio working correctly (which I did eventually .. after finding out I unplugged the audio after the second reboot and solved it after somewhere). After this, I got internet video searching working through mythTV using adobe Flash. I then went to bed only to find the internet not working (can't telnet, can't traceroute, can't anything). This is both as the mythtv user I have set up and as root.
The setup I have is: PC -> router -> interweb 192.168.1.7 -> 192.168.1.1 -> interweb
I also have a laptop (F12) which is on 192.168.1.5. The laptop has access to the internet just fine (no problem at router / interweb). I have the only access to the router and disabled any ISP access (no changes in router). I have the only access to the PC (no changes in PC). I have set SElinux to permissive (no selinux issues). I have temporarily disabled iptables on the PC (not firewall issue).
So, I decided to look at the differences between my two machines on the network. Initially the PC was missing the route: 169.254.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.0.0 U 1002 0 0 eth0 I changed the services on startup so thet 'NetworkManager' was off, but 'network' started (exactly like my laptop). I turned off avahi-daemon, and any other network sort of daemon which doesn't match my laptop (which I have also customized).

I even have inter-communication working fine (I can SSH between the two servers no problems - 192.168.1.7 <-> 192.168.1.5). I can do DNS queries from both just fine (nslookup google.com returns fine). I just can't get any information back from the net. Would it be work me doing a tcpdump or wireshark dump etc ('tcpdump > file' would be easier for me)?
I set up my Mac Mini to dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu. I started with Windows only, and allowed it to rewrite the partition table (GPT/MBR). When I tried to install Ubuntu, it didn't see Windows until I used Gdisk to delete the GPT portion. Then it recognized the Windows partition and installed Ubuntu as per normal. Now when I boot, I get GRUB and the option to boot Ubuntu or Windows 7. The only problem is that the USB keyboard (Aluminum or standard PC keyboard) doesn't work until an OS is loaded.
Is this an EFI problem? I'm starting to think that EFI is required for USB keyboard support at bootup since it replaces the BIOS functionality. Is this even remotely accurate? Did I mess things up by not going the rEFIt route? I'm not sure what I can do at this juncture as I can only boot into Ubuntu.
I could install OS X, rEFIt, then Windows and Ubuntu, keeping rEFIt as the boot loader, but if there's an easy solution I'd like to avoid that. More importantly, I'd like to understand what's going on.
I bought a Rock Mini keyboard with touchpad MSZ-KBTP. The touchpad is working with fedora 14 but some of the keys are not what they should be. I tried changing the keyboard layout under gnome keyboard settings but the keyboard is not listed.
I just recently installed Ubuntu on the HP Mini 1000 and the drivers for the WiFi aren't working correctly. Is there a place where I can download the Drivers for WiFi and get them to install.
New user to Linux. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to a mini-laptop, but the built-in wireless card/chip is not working. It worked under the previous OS, XP. There is a switch on the case frame that enables it, but the active light did not turn on during installation. I installed a second time and manually flicked the switch every one second to see if it needed human intervention, but to no avail.
My next step was to try to update Ubuntu to see if it would help, so I inserted a Belkin USB wireless, but the connection was intermittent at best. I believe the device is faulty. A wired connection is impossible as I am sharing with my neighbor. What should I do to help Ubuntu the internal wireless device?
It works under Windoze but in Linux the integrated mouse doesn't work. Whilst it's forced me to learn some keyboard shortcuts, the mouse would help a lot.
This is my media PC. I run currently run Mandriva 2008 & use Kafiene to watch/record etc TV.
I am brand new to linux and i am finding it really frustrating cause i always thought i had quite a knack for computers. ive looked online and searched a bunch of stuff but because im so new to linux i am having a hard time even understand some of the stuff. i really want to get comfortable/fluent with linux and unix and what not.

When i first installed mint, it said that i needed non-free drivers?
The ethernet cable instantly gave me connection and i was able to run updates but the wifi still doesnt work i think the updates only updated the free ones and not the non-free ones cause i dont remember ever specifying to download the non free ones how do i manually specify to download all available updates?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop using Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-card (This is what Windows Vista says I have). I have installed Ubuntu as dual boot with existing Windows Vista. Wireless is not working in Ubuntu but working flawlessly in Windows.

just got this netbook like 2 days and tried out windows 7 which it came with but hated it so i switched to ubuntu netbook remix but i noticed i cant use skype on it which is pretty important for me. i basically just reinstalled it and or osme reason it worked this time
I have Ubuntu 11.04 on a Dell Studio XPS 1640 with ATI graphics and the fglrx driver. It's a powerful machine and I've had no problem what so ever to watch full hd videos on windows 7 but all videos, no matter the resolution, has a very small stutter which is annoying but not making the videos unviewable. But I'd prefer not having it at all. I have tried setting the VLC video output to x11 but there is no difference. It's a screen tearing problem, that was fixed by setting the option "Tear Free" on in ATI Catalyst Control Center.
I am trying to get the Asus "My Cinema-U3100 Mini plus" DVB-T USB stick to work on my lucid 32bit with 2.6.32-27 kernel - with no great success so far. And this despite searching through forums and following the instructions given on [URL].
The USBID is in fact Code: ID 0b05:1779 ASUSTek Computer, Inc. Which is exactly the one shown in the list of supported devices on LinuxTV. I have implemented all modifications and corrections to the source files as outlined in the above LinuxTVWiki instructions.
I also added the boot option Code: usbhid.quirks=0x0b05:0x1779:0x0004 to grub2 in order to overcome the (initial) problem of the tuner being recognised as a HID device.

My knowledge is limited and I have no idea why I am getting all these warnings and finally the error message. Also, is there a way to tell when (or if at all) driver support for this device will be implemented in the Linux kernel?
I'm trying to run Wammu with sony ericsson xperia x10 mini (usb cable), the SD card inside the phone appears but I can't get something like /dev/ttyACM to communicate with the phone.
(It's ubuntu, generic kernel with all stuffs and I had had a samsunng phone working in the past)
I am stuck in 800x576 resolution and don't know how to escape. I've tried changing xorg.conf but that caused my machine to grind to a halt and I had to copy the original .conf file back over before I could launch GNOME again. I've run lspci | grep VGA, and this is what I get:

I'm trying to install Photran for Eclipse 3.6. I've managed to get 3.6 and it works but the next step involves choosing a package that I just can't see because my screen resolution is too small.
I've installed Debian using the boot.img.gz file onto the jump drive, as well as Linux mint and crunchbang with unetbootin all to no avail; pressing F9 at bios startup refuses to show the jump drive. Booting from the drive is enabled (as far as I can see) in the BIOS.
I've been goign nuts trying to find the source of this niggling problem I've had since upgrading to Maverick. Whenever I'm watching anything I will get these short freezes of about half a second before he file continues playing. It will happen on average 3-4 times per hour on a video file.
For MP3 playback it's even worse, I'll get a stutter every couple of minutes, sometimes several in the same song. I reformatted completely and installed Maverick from scratch. For about a day I thought I had it sorted but then it started happening again.
I checked dmesg and there are a number of worrying lines like this:

The thing is that this problem occurs on all three of my hard drives (2 SATA, one IDE) so it's extremely unlikely all three have become damaged on the day I updated. Could this be a kernel problem of some sort? On an unrelated note all but one of my USB ports fails to recognise any portable music players.
